Incredible how such an eloquent and important speech about NZ is relegated to a small corner of the internet where most won't see it. There is more truth in this 30 minute speech than the entire reporting from our state funded media in the last 7 years.
Should be prime time viewing to wake the entire population up! Hopefully all media commentators promotes this, - as it's not an ACT party political - its bordering on a State of the Nation address for US ALL! Well done, Paul.
"We have become a sad little country who would prefer to squabble amongst themselves than stand with their face to the world with a united pride and ambition"
True. But I would replace squabble with buy and sell houses to each other, thinking that property is a good investment. The IQ is sure in decline here.
David, if you want to see your party increase in the polls, find a way to get this speech noticed on a larger scale. This is what the people need to hear 👏
large scale - what scale are you talking about. Henry and likeminded are already in the realm of the trumpet concept. The USA is where Henry spend much of his listening time.
Polies are led by the majority and if the majority have their head up their butts, the you don’t get a say and thats why intelligent people know it’s useless to go into politics.
Paul🤦The Māori Party are only "separatists" because of the anti-Māori Hate and anti-Māori race-baiting DOG-WHISTLE TACTICS used by ACT and National Parties 😢
These are speeches only, if they came to power they would be more than present ine.. whenever they are bot in power only than they gave good speeches...
I never heard of you Paul Henry, but as a broadcaster you know how to get your message across. Bravo. All I can say mate, as an Australian, I completely understand your frustration. We are living through the same crap here in Australia. More strength to you Paul. Come over to Australia, you'll find plenty of support. The UK and US are basket cases and our bureaucrats are following them into the abyss.

Best political speech I’ve ever heard for NZ in the current context. I hope Paul is prepared to stand as a member given his wonderful ability to communicate the truth.
He won't stand if he's bright. Socrates explained why. "A person who is true to his morals will reach conflict in public service because there is no such thing as a politician who is not morally compromised." I don't believe Paul Henry would agree to sell his soul just to make cowardly people feel better about themselves when it's not merited.
for god sake listen to this guy, he is 100% correct, stop being politicians and start using your brains, ears and eyes, Whether you like him or not, Paul Henry is so right.
Agreed. These people running the country are so out of touch, they do not have a clue what it is like for everyday New Zealanders ! These people may have all of the credentials, but they are so dumb! Ask the people, ask us for help and get together and listen to what the people have to say, listen to what it’s like for the people and maybe listen to them and value their opinions and think outside your regimented thinking. This country is a mess. As a nurse I am embarrassed at our health care system and this is one of the major problems we need to work on! Change this ridiculous health system structure, invest in more education, more front line services, early diagnostic labs and imaging, nipping disease in the bud before people get really sick, suffer and end up costing the country more money due to more surgical, rehab, treatments needed, bug if we worked on early diagnoses, prevention and park the ambulance at the top of the cliff instead of the bottom .
I have never had a high opinion of Paul Henry - this speech has changed me completely - Thank You ACT for enlightening me. Thank you Paul for the entertainment and the message.
What a fantastic speech, thank you Mr. Paul henry. Give the man a knighthood for his honesty and erudite, forthright speech and humour! Get up NZ! We are Great
@StGammon77 not any more they don't, ask the Crusaders. We are too too too politically correct for such things. And so an entire rugby franchise was rebranded.
Outstanding Paul. You called out the uncomfortable truths that see NZ heading to hell in a hand basket. I applaud your moral courage! I'm thinking you would make a great PM. Well done.
Great speech! Prior to 2020 when Ardern referred to "creating jobs" by using taxpayers money to simply make new jobs that was indicative of their mentality and concerning. One other was the vote buying first year uni free, can we at least get that changed to last year uni free when students have proven their commitment to succeed. Two example of tax wastage out of many.
You are my New Hero Sir. What you say makes absolute sense. I am from Australia, and many of us love New Zealand and Kiwi's and hope you stay genuine and strong. May God Bless you Sir, and all Kiwi's.
@@MK-oc4gt live the delusion if you like. It’s what I do. But if you think they are going to turn this ship around you are the delusion. The course is set
thanks Paul Henry best speech for 2024 . i encourage all kiwis to take hed of what you have just witnessed yes we are at crossroads of the old and new New Zealand ...lets be great again ...all of us .
Finally, a speech with guts and determination to make NZ great again. I'm an electrical engineer and have wanted to move back home but can't afford to live there, waiting for the time when we can
Gosh that was a good listen. Looks like we need Paul Henry in politics. I hope that ACT take every word he says seriously and encourage their coalition partners to do the same.
All the pioneers today are stopped at the Council desk waiting for a consent papers followed by endless inspections... Go pioneering NZ! Just don't forget to make sure you have the approval for whatever you are about to do first.
Absolutely the best speech I have ever heard from Parliament. A comedy speech makes it worth listening to, it's not boring and it makes the ugly parts more interesting and a bit easier to listen to. We need more like Paul, so thank you David for getting Paul to speak.
Agree. I'm a lawyer and my husband is an engineer. We have two kids. We moved to Aussie last year and aren't looking back. We were living in the slums in NZ and are living so well here. The difference is unbelievable.
@@BigBird1584 no aussie has shit loads of natural resources, the country is bloody rich. Can't be compared to nz. I moved from nz and just became an Aussie citizen last month. Quality of life here is on another level.
Same situation here in your next door neighbour Australia. Don't listen no more, don't engage no more, don't vote no more! Don't care no more!....Lost me!
That's exactly what neo-liberalism does. It doesn't care, it leaves everything to the markets, it destroys regulations, the very means to protect the powerless. Markets have no conscience and neither do the wealthy which support the neo-liberal internationally discredited theory.
Sometimes Paul Henry can be a bit of a dick. This was not one of those times. An exceptional speech that, clearly articulates the annoyances, frustations,a nd the issue at that every New Zealander is thinking. Paul delivered this clearly, concisely, with flair, and good humour. You can hear how engaged the audience is.
🇦🇺 This is the speech only a person with clear morals, ethics and courage can give, unlike the propagandists and opportunistic political power seekers. Best wishes from 🇦🇺
Have always liked Paul Henry he isnt afraid to call a spade a spade and tough who he puts the boot into. Hes a great entertainer and extremely intelligent. He needs to be encoured to stand next election.
Sure, 1 pm is perfect, that's when only retirees are at home to watch. Some can't see...others can't hear...then there are those who just fall asleep in front of the telly! Good call! 😂
@@MK-oc4gt 1pm is a call flash back to the times when Cindy made a 1pm updates and announcements about announcements.. But then again all Act supporters would be at work while all Labour supporters would be on the benefit looking for more hand outs from the government
I hope “safe hands Luxon” is listening, and is keen to be a change maker. Most notably to have the courage to bring the nation together to face the global economic challenges, but that can only be achieved as ONE PEOPLE. It’s time to end decades of wasteful and shameful ToW apartheid politics.
Yes a failure of nerve can be a block to victory and effectively fall short. Remember Lange and Douglas. The best leaders just shoot on through to grasp the full benefit. We have high hopes of the coalition to drive changes.
I left New Zealand, built a successful professional services business in 3 countries in SE Asia and employ over 100 people. I absolutely agree with Paul ❤ thank you for not giving up on NZ at least just yet ! You didn’t mention the moral jeopardy we face as vassals of the UK EU and USA.
@@lesclark878 oh don’t worry, there is no New Zealand to come back to now. It’s gone and now it’s only the blind chasing the ignorant in some strange hysterical political malaise… You can keep it if that’s all that’s left !
@@lesclark878 This is so ignorant. The WEF and its minions, adern, trudeau and all the rest, have an agenda. This has become so obvious to anyone apart from the terminally ignorant. History will unfortunately repeat.
Seriously? I think most people in this part of the world are far more concerned about the influence of China in the South Pacific, than they are that of the UK, EU and USA, just ask Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Japan.
I have a home in New Zealand which I intend to return to early next year and it saddens me that my young son will not live in the tolerant and successful New Zealand I left when I was younger. I was always proud to be a Kiwi and people everywhere often told me how much they admired New Zealand. That just doesn't happen anymore. I still love New Zealand and hope to help make it a country to be proud of again.
Well you LEFT like half your kiwi citizens who keep leaving the country and immigrating to Australia mainly ... Australia tax payers shouldn't be supporting 2 counties NZ govt and citizens only have themselves to blame
Much of what you say applies doubly to Australian politics right now! Well said, and thank you, for calling out what everyone here in Australia is thinking about our current political climate.
I support NZ First, but this is a great talk from Paul Henry. I'm impressed with the coalition Government so far, they have worked hard to set worthwhile objectives but we have a lot to do. "I couldn't give Labour one more day at the helm"!!! We all know exactly what you mean by that bro!!!
You must be rich because life for everyday new zealanders gets harder under this coalition. tax breaks to landlords to trickle down to renters? yeah right, rents are still rising not to mention its harder for kiwis to buy their first home. The addiction of unskilled immigrant workers who send all their money back home was another great idea, instead of raising the minimum to a livable wage the government catered to businesses and let in cheap labour, what they didnt figure was all that labour was going to send their money back to the phillipines and now OUR economy is failing, businesses going under left and right and all of this and more while literally taking food out of children's mouths in schools cutting public jobs, inflaming racial tension AND giving themselves a pay rise. anything that goes wrong just blame the previous government blah blah blah maybe when this coalition has finished padding their friends pockets they might fix one or two things for the country. elections can't come soon enough these greedy bastards need to go
Paul Henry is wealthy, and neo-liberal economics suits him. Not so for the ordinary Joe Kiwi who's been doing it tough since Roger Douglas let the free market ideology loose on us.
@@andrewm8610 I doubt that's the reason. Skilled workers won't come to NZ because our salaries are too low. Other developed countries are luring skilled workers by offering far more generous pay packets than us.
I left NZ because the pay and conditions were so much more favourable on the other side of the globe. Not a lot has changed in the 24 years since then.
Amazing speech Paul H. I was reviewing the history of Singapore just yesterday. At the end of the 1950's there was a huge opportunity, but more importantly, there was a terrible alternative. While Lee Keang Yu was autocratic in many respects, he changed Singapore from a flailing swamp to what it is today. Mainly it was a social development that made it compulsory that the multi-ethnic population pulled together
How? this government is run by the rich. the rich own businesses and those businesses don't want to pay more in wages so the businessmen who are friends with this coalition tell them to bring in cheap labour so business owners don't have to pay a livable wage. hence we have hundreds of thousands of filipinos working for less than kiwis, what the brains didn't figure was that ALL the money goes back to phillipines, it doesn't get spent and cycled in nz which is one of the reasons our businesses are going under.............a conundrum when you realise it's the businessmen who did it to themselves by making cheap labour but also destroying the buyers as well.
If you see all this crap going on in the country, you HAVE to run for government! That’s the best way to change things, and the country is small enough for you to do it!! GO FOR IT!
I wish the acclaimed leading journalists of TV1 are watching the speech. I will be polite: I try every night at 6 to give them the opportunity ... and I switch off after the propaganda. How long until they will realize NZ got a new Government?
If our current government tread softly so as not to upset the voters, then they'll lose to Labour yet again. They need to act, and not pussy foot around.
NZ is where some of my best memories are. I moved to Australia when I was 12, but always held an admiration and fascination for NZ, until I lived there for 8 months in 2020. It just felt sad and most people I met put up a wall or parroted some lefty garbage. It’s not so much like that in Aus. I ended up feeling like I was more Australian and moved back to Aus. I’m glad to see there is a shift happening in NZ. It’s happening here too. There are hard but hopeful times ahead my friends.
thanks Paul, very well put , do not leave a sinking ship .there are some holes to be plugged and you are still doing your part , most of us love this country..
