We got along in the 70s, 80s and 90s because we did not have politicians telling us that we should not get along. Color that my opinion from a 56-year-old who has lived through it all.

You are so cute and funny dancing with the broom!! Yes, we ALL were cleaning and jamming on Saturday morning - getting ready for the party Saturday night!! This music is the soundtrack of my High School days and I'm still jamming to it at 63!! Yes, thank the Lord that I still can!! My cousin who was just born when this song came out (1975) has been touring with KC and the Sunshine Band for the past 10 years as a singer/dancer (they were just at the Fox in Atlanta)!! This music is funky and soulful for ALL generations and races!!

KC had the best rhythm section! He was the cream of the Miami Sound!!!

KC & THE SUNSHINE BAND are from Miami which is a pretty diverse city itself so the band reflects that.

I grew up in the 70s in a poor, racially mixed neighborhood. That kid doesn't recognize the world we live in today. I'm hopeful that through the music of the past, we can reconnect and see it is the powerful and rich that stoke racial tensions so we ignore how they are ripping everyone off and enriching themselves in the process. Life was so much easier back then, but then again, I was a kid - what did I know.
