Wow Logan! What a story. I’m sooo glad you’re ok. Such good tips and advice on making sure you get acquainted with the medical services in town before an emergency happens ❤ Paul- you’re a master story teller. This could be on any national broadcast. Great job!

Logan, I am so happy you are okay! I moved to México last October. Five days later, I fell down some stairs and broke my ankle and wrist. I had to have surgery and stayed one night in the hospital. Fortunately, I had insurance!! May you heal entirely and have no residual longterm issues. 🙏🙏

What a great surprise! Logan, you were terrific! I'm not saying that just because you are my nephew. You've always had the gift of the gab and you just put that gift to good use. You were articulate, informative and interesting. Great job. Love to Cody and your Mum and Dad. Tell them it's time to come home - the snow is gone and the geese are back.

When we first came to Mexico we had travel insurance. After deciding to live in Mexico, no one would insure my husband due to pre-existing conditions. It's been a nightmare trying to get medications for pneumonia... we've been to so many Dr's and they all want him hospitalized. Had him in a Gov't Hospital in Tonderoque and they almost killed him, very poor care in the Gov't hospitals. Rather treat at home than go back to one of them. If anyone has any solutions that would be great! We finally had a doctor prescribe antibiotic IV's for us to do at home.... finally! So now we can get some over due antibiotics into my poor man! It's very awful being without insurance but there is no option... to go back to Canada it would take months to see a specialist when needed, and if lucky enough to even see a Dr. The price of the CMQ Hospital without insurance is a deposit of about $250,000 pesos before you are admitted.

Health care is really important to sort out. Like you said. Foreigners who have had cancer, diabetes, or other Pre existing conditions aren't eligible for insurance in Mexico. I hope that you're able to get the care you need and if I learn more about this I will make a video.

Great info--- I've been going down to Vallarta 1-3 times a year since 2016 and always purchase travel insurance but I never though about going to the local hospital or clinic and registering for future accidents.

very well presented topic and story... very scary situation to be in for sure. I had something similar but much less serious happen to me in Sayulita. I got flipped upside down by a big wave and was under water for about 10 seconds. I was able to get my hands out in front of my head but ended up scraping my shoulder on a rock. the worst part was I lost my sunglasses in the ocean. I only had travel insurance for the first 90 days when I first came to Mexico almost 3 years ago just to make sure I could get in. I dont even own a cell phone and wouldnt even know how to navigate that process of making a claim. fingers crossed.... God will take care of me.

Dude, waves. Twice in my life I had awesomely sobering experiences with waves, both when I was much younger. I have such a deep respect for the force of water. So glad you're recovering. Yes, I get travel insurance always. It is affordable and gives peace of mind. If you're going to be traveling throughout the year getting annual coverage I found much less expensive through Allianz. The sidewalks can be insane, sometimes just big holes a couple of feet deep. You can't be looking at your cellphone when you are walking (not ever a good idea anyway lol)!

I never thought about pre-registering at a hospital but my visits are usually just two weeks at a time--that was a nice insight. I have a laminated copy of my insurance contact info in my pocket and wallet as well if I fall and become unconscious. I agree with Logan, having travel insurance is a must. I had to use it in Miami back in 2007 and without it, I would have been screwed. Logan, if you happen to read this, I also wish you well with your recovery, especially on the concussion part. I suffered several at once back in 2012 and it was a life changing situation for me, but thankfully, manageable. R:)

Always, always have travel insurance! As 60 year old Canadians it cost us less then $150 for 2 weeks……a small price to pay for piece of mind. My cousin was in a car accident in Bucerias two years ago and had to have abdominal surgery. She spent a week in the hospital in Bucerias and has nothing but good things to say about the hospital and all the staff. On another note……this guy looks so much like Winnigeg comedian, Big Daddy Tazz!

@Katepwe
@Katepwe 5 месяцев назад
@@RedroomStudios I know, but as foreign travellers if we need medical attention and don’t have insurance we pay for everything out of pocket. As an example, while visiting Phoenix last year my husband had a kidney stone and had to go to emergency. If we hadn’t had insurance it would have cost us about $4000 instead of $150.00

Great video Paul. Frightening situation Logan found himself in on vacation. Fortunately he seems to be on the road to recovery. The pre registry at the Hospital is interesting. It would be nice if a online registration was available with the Hospital or Insurance Provider? I'd be interested in how receptive the Bucerias Hospital is to this practice. Wink,Wink.
