I Thought Making a Feature Film at 18 Would Be Different. 

5:22 thats what makes it hard but also worth it, if you knew how it would end and all it wouldnt be worth it, thats like watching a movie that you know the story of. This is a very hard goal youve set up but you have clearly shown incredible things such as your ability to STICK TO IT. a whole year think about that... A WHOLE YEAR josh, thats commitment! Keep doing it because you are getting closer every day! I respect your grind mann!!

Happy birthday! I don't think you let anyone down, I think you should look at it like you gained a year of experience. I've seen your thumbnails and video quality improve over the last year, and like someone else pointed out you do technically have a full film. My best advice as a fellow aspiring 3d artist is to not force yourself. You don't want to take something you enjoy and turn it into another chore, take your time and make the film you want to make.

Oh Josh, I just wanna give you a hug 🤗 You haven't let anyone down. Anyone who's attempted to make a film of any length knew from the beginning how INSANE this project was. Watching you on this series has kind of been like watching a play through of Dark Souls. It's a kind of schadenfreude, cathartic, shared trauma experience where we know exactly the kind of pain you're going through. For me it's never been about whether you'd finish the movie. Honestly I didn't think you would (and oh man, you actually did! WTH!) It's been a question of - who's this kid going to be on the other side of this journey? Will he even make it to the other side? Because most people don't. Most give up after a couple of months and never return. You've not only stuck around for the long haul, you're still going. You have staying power. And that is what's going to make you a great...something one day. Maybe it'll be a great film maker. Or maybe it'll be something else. But that perseverance has already set you apart from the crowd.

Keep going! Your always going to be your biggest critic, and thats ok. It shows how much you care for the project. The finish line gets closer the more you run towards it. Also you are now on the list of people that say my name right. I've had many interesting nicknames given to me (Like beetle), so there ya go 👍.

Hey man.... you have done, and learned a lot. You don't technically have a film... you actually have one. Maybe not the way you want to but it's a much larger accomplishment than anyone I know has ever achieved. Don't beat yourself up man. You are a hero.

Just know, you might hate it, you might hate everything about it, but don't let that stop you from finishing it. So what if it's a draft? So what if it's a "Previs"? That part doesn't matter, what matters is the story, the bond with it you not only have with yourself, but with your audience. You aren't letting anyone down; you aren't letting down your community. Just remember, you're 18, making a film. Do you know how impressive it is to just say that? Most filmmakers don't even have rough drafts till they are in their 30s! You are amazing and talented, and sh!t takes time. Set goals for yourself, get your hopes high, but don't let it crush you when you can't meet deadlines, YOU ARE STILL ACCOMPLISHING YOUR GOAL, AND THAT IN ITSELF IS ENOUGH! Dude, you are waaaay too hard on yourself right now. Pixar has THE best animators, artists, riggers, lighting experts, etc etc in the business, they have HUNDREDS of people working on a full length movie..... HUNDREDS, not just one person! And those animators are EXPERIENCED and have made short films themselves....these are expoerienced guys. Do you know how long THEY take to make a feature-length film? 4 and a half years! These guys are planning FOUR years ahead, before the movie is ready to be released. Not ONE year ahead, but FOUR..... So, there's them: hundreds of animators, multiple years of experience per animator making a feature film in four years.... and here's you, one lone animator without too much experience and you're trying to make it in ONE year?? Come on, go a bit easier on yourself.... sit back and look what progress you've made and be proud of it. Pat yourself on the back, have a drink and please please remember that YOUR progress is normal progress.... what you're going through is not JUST expected but it's completelky normal. If you wanna finish this thing, just be more realstic. Please please be more realstic with your goals! Set some realstic goals and be happy with it. No stress.... just be realstic and make the movie. You got this :)
