Great video! One of my favorite trails, my 2500 on 35's eats this up…. There is another trail to Pioneer that is a little less aggressive but just as fun. Eagle Ranch drive… turn off is right before the Chevron on Blue Diamond. I would love to go camping out there, look forward to if you find a good spot.

Nice!! Didn’t know there was another option to get out there, I’ll keep that in mind🤙🏽 thanks for watching Todd!

There are actually a few more, and much more challenging…But try the one I mentioned, it is less aggressive as mentioned and just as fun. @@Kadenventures

Sweet vid! We do the trail about twice a year for 22years! Love the history behind these trails. We often see wild horses. Lots of trails from Pahrump, Mt Potosi and Sandy Valley all converge at the Pioneer Saloon! I guess the folks from back in the day knew where the party was at! Happy travels!

Very interesting video, as always. I'm not an overlander, just a crabby old lady (well into my 70s) in a soft roader (Jeep Renegade Trailhawk; stock except for Wildpeaks). I did that road last year, with some trepidation. Before I got my Wildpeaks, I turned back at that spot at 5:30 in your video. When I got the Wildpeaks, I made it all the way, but that spot at 7:07 was a white-knuckle challenge. It definitely looks like it's gotten more washed out by this year's heavy rains, so I think I'll just enjoy it vicariously through your video, and quit this one while I'm ahead.
@Kadenventures
@Kadenventures 8 месяцев назад
Your not wrong at 7:07 it was definitely a white knuckle area lol the video doesn’t do it justice but we were at a pretty steep incline, I actually slipped a bit just walking to the back of the truck to assess where my tires were placed and Carly was freaking out in the passenger seat when the tires starting slipping trying to get up there lol so I don’t blame you! :) Thanks for watching!

A little side note to the younger viewers. Clark Gable and Carol Lombard were famous actors in the 1930's. His wife was killed in a plane crash on Potisi. He stayed at the Pioneer for about three days till he heard of the final outcome of his wife. There are cigar burns on the bar top where he fell asleep awaiting to hear the outcome.

I’ve heard of this story from I think an episode of ghost adventures! lol thank you for the little history bit, I love hearing stories like this behind all these gems we find in the desert! Thanks for watching!

Haven't done the trail in about a year or so, but it is definitely washed out way more from when I did it last. Glad you made it unscathed! Sooo lift and 33's for the rig in the future?

@Kadenventures 8 месяцев назад
Same man! This truck is over 10 years old, I’m trying to keep him running as long as possible (the price of new trucks these days r wild 🤯) lol a bigger lift and some bigger tires may be in the future not sure about 33s tho I’d like to still be able to park in my garage 😂 thanks for watching J!

Looks like you are enjoying your GFC. Ddid you have to do any suspension mods after you put it on to help with the extra weight?
@Kadenventures
@Kadenventures 7 месяцев назад
I already had air bag suspensions on the truck so I didnt have to do anything else. I did eventually get Bilstein 5100s installed on the front and rear for a bit more support but with the air bags it wasnt really necessary. The GFC weighs less than 300 lbs so not too heavy

I camped off Lovell Canyon Rd Wed and Thursday and it was really busy. I'm going to have to find someplace else to camp in the Spring Mountain area. If you spot any promising roads or spots, please let us know!

Now that we are getting into the winter months, the temps at Lake Mead r going to be awesome and will be a great option near town to disperse camp! Check out Government wash or Stewart’s point 🏕

@@Kadenventures Thank you! And I wanted to ask, do you know if dispersed camping is allowed off Potosi Canyon Rd? You're right, nights are getting too chilly now, but I'm trying to think ahead to Spring.
@Kadenventures
@Kadenventures 8 месяцев назад
@@ktrayn78 I've done a bit of research on Potosi Canyon (i THINK camping is allowed but its a very specific area that isnt on private property - Theres a retreat or somekind of church camp down there) but I've also read that the road can be a bit rough which is why I havent made my way over there (yet) I may put that on the list for next summer though since its higher in elevation and would be a great option to camp during the summer :)

@@Kadenventures Ah, I don't have 4 wheel drive so that might be a problem! But that's what I am hoping to find, a stand in for Champion Rd until they re-open it. I can't imagine having to drive to Utah every other week just to escape the heat!

I thought about trying this trail the last couple of weeks but for one reason or another I haven't had a chance. I did do the Lava Butte trail with my stock Frontier Pro4x, early October. Trail there also got a bit washed out on the inclines and declines

Great review. Looking forward to your comparison video on the updates to the GFC. The complaints of condensation on the interior roof is concerning. I’m hoping GFC can address the issue.
@brianrvegas
@brianrvegas 8 месяцев назад
I don't think condensation is any worse than a normal tent, but maybe it's more obvious with the honeycomb roof? I haven't witnessed it myself but camp in arid environments for the most part, and a little venting ought to do the trick. I know some of the GFC guys are carpeting the ceiling to help with condensation, light reduction, and it also provides a place to mount velcro-backed items. I may do that with mine at some point.
@Kadenventures
@Kadenventures 8 месяцев назад
Yea unfortunately I don’t think the newer models will have any less condensation, we always make sure to have a fan blowing next to a window to keep air circulating to avoid condensation but it’s not easy esp when the temps begin to drop or if your in a very humid area. I agree with a Brian’s comment about installing some fabric or carpet tiles to the roof to help with condensation 👌🏽
