I took a chance on a 1964 Impala SS (and it SURPRISED me)! Field Find Auction Chevy project car 

Back in 1963 at 16 years old I was locked up in that thing for 3 days. It was located in the back part of the firehouse in Siloam Springs, AR. I had been pick up for public intoxication. I sat there for 2 days before I had enough nerve to call my family to come get me out. Good memories. I would have bought it if I had kown it was up for auction. Thanks for posting this...

That Jail is so cool, one could roast to death or turn into an human ice cube in the frostie months, the Chevy cabover is so cool, I had a 1950 Diamond T cabover, I could get 50 mph out of it down hill with a tail wind, it had a nice hardwood grain box, I sold it and the guy totaled it out, well that was 30 years ago, I love you're videos Mr Goodplyers, Thank You

my daddy was a car salesman all of his life. in 64 he sold my uncle a new 64 impala ss, it was black with turquoise interior. then in the late 60s he had several used car lots. i grew up working on cars. i became a professional transmission rebuilder, retired after 45 years. my favorite is the 1962 impala ss,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

If we still had jail cells like that, we would have virtually no crime!

The first can I ever restored was a 1964 Impala SS convertible . I'm doing a 1967 SS396 Chevelle. It's my favorite car as a kid.

The '64 Impala SS I had in high school was burgundy, red interior, with a 327 & factory Muncie 4speed. The paint had some oxidation, but the interior was pristine. At the time it had about 100,000 miles and needed some engine work as it was burning some oil. It ran great tho - the SBC was a great engine. With dual exhaust and glass packs, it sounded great. After graduation I sold the car to a friend who was a year behind me. He promptly wrecked it, but it was repaired and the paint was better than when I owned it. I never knew what became of it. Sure would love to have it now!

I never miss a Mr. GP video and couldn't wait to watch this one right away about my favorite car. Really nice score for you! Yours seems to be a mystery. The trim tag doesn't have a normal assembly plant code, assembly date or accessory codes. Not sure how to decode it. It was very rare to have a column shift SS but they did make a few. The car would have come with an SS console but without a place for a shifter. Yours has 327 fender flags. With that sweet posi, your price is fair for sure. Wish I was younger and had a place for a third one. Keep up the good work and fun videos.

My uncle had purchased a brand new 1964 impala 4 door, But I never noticed if it had a post or not. His was also maroon in color.

Luv the '63 and' 64 Impalas. '63 Impala was my first car. My father bought a brand new '63 Impala SS. Beautiful car.

Its a cool SS Impala. It looks better with those bumper guards. Its a interesting project. We certainly seen worce being fully restored. I used to like convertables, but since the summers have become way too hot, I prefer the hardtops. That International pickup truck is very cool truck.

You know it is really sad to see those beautiful cars sitting there resting away😢 just wanting to get back out on the streets and drive around with all those newer cars😂 it is a shame that people let cars just sit there and waste away when they could be out on the street looking beautiful shiny running really good better than the cars on the street what happened to America's cars that used to be really great I love the videos that they restore these cars and drive them down the street bring the tear to my eye😢 I'm in my 60s and we used to have beautiful cars and then the car manufacturers just fucked it all up😂

My brother and I in the mid-seventies had 64' Impallas. His met the end parked in a street and was totaled by a drunk driver.

I think you got the better of the Impalas. Wish the 57 closer to Apple Valley. Still lots of good pieces it.

1959 to 1964 full size Chevrolet cars need to have the cowl replaced with a factory A/C cowl in order to install factory A/C in a car that came as a factory non A/C car.

I think you got really lucky when you were outbid on that convertible. I doubt they'll get it out of there without breaking it in half. Looks like the floors and rockers are totally gone. I think the frame is most likely in the same condition. He picks it up from the rear with that Bobcat, the way he did yours, it's very likely to fold up like a cardboard box.

It’s been my experience that people looking to scam you always use crappy pictures in their auctions.

12:43 "EDIT: I wrote this before I saw the part of the vid where it showed the condition of the car so take it with a grain of salt LOL"........ I am confused by that statement. Why would the regular model convertible be "The cream of the crop" Between that and the "SS Coupe" which from my understanding and personal preference is MUCH more desirable and should bring a price premium due to it's "SS" designation and the Coupe hard top being a lighter car because there's no need to make it more structurally sound due to the Vert's lack of a roof support. From what little I know I thought most all verts required heavy beams and supports in the side rails or some type of strengthening method to keep it from twisting out the car when driving for years et. Perhaps the vert is more desirable due to it being the slow ride cruiser that many people used to build (I guess still do) to make a "Dingle Ball Rider" with Air ride and hydraulics. ?
