Owen was captain of my cross country team and is an amazing leader and person. His family is incredible. He was also a student in my multimedia class where he showed what an eye he has for photography. I get such a kick out of watching his love for photography flourish alongside his love of the outdoors. This experience couldn’t have happened to a better person. 😊

Been day hiking for a year now. Did a lifestyle change and went from 338lbs to 195lbs. Really fell in love with hiking the last year, and want to now get involved with some backwoods hiking. Was super lucky to have found your channel and probably watched 15 videos in the last week. Any advice for a newbie or any old videos you would recommend me watching? And I love the channel… keep up the great work!

What a great thing to do. Dan you have soul, heart, and project levity in most everything I see you do on this channel. Owen is one of people in this world that makes a huge difference in many lives. Dan, Great job with your crew, sponsors, etc. on enriching Owen’s life through the opportunities you have orchestrated, and because of his initiative showing up (after the 6 hour drive), but also the initiative he has learned and demonstrated in his life via Eagle Scouts, being a care provider, and just being him. This series has been great for me as I am on day 6 post hip replacement surgery and have hiking this Spring as my inspiration in recovery and healing. Your channel is a positive focus in between icing, walking with a cane, and later this week PT. June of 2022 I climbed Mount Katahdin in Maine, and over the year navigated PT sessions, second opinions, and now post surgery. Thanks for enlightening the world to the outdoors and more. Owen, my wife has been a caretaker for at least 20 years, and the relationships that you build, not only with the person your working with, but their families is truly amazing..and I know it takes a special person to do this, you are a huge blessing to the people you are around Owen, and I'm sure like Dan said, God has big plans for you my friend. That’s twice I’ve missed you in our region this summer! The Goat Rocks is the first backpacking trip I went on a few years ago for my son’s 16th birthday. I was reluctant to go but watching your videos helped me to prepare mentally and with knowing what type of gear we needed. We just got budget stuff for the most part and backpack was for sure uncomfortable as I was using an ultra light pack with traditional gear, but yet it was a phenomenal experience and I got addicted to it. The past two years been slowly getting better and lighter gear with coupons and then getting stuff for the kids. So we are pretty set now. This year I had to cancel five trips due to ministry and work obligations that showed up last minute so I’m going to try to do fall and winter trips this time. My sons want to go do the goat rocks trail that we did the first time, again. We had an amazing view overlooking a cliff to other mountains. We might try that one in the snow this time.
