We had a problem on a cruise with the toilet not working and you pushing the button numerous times brought a smile to my face. I let my room steward know the toilet wouldn’t flush, he couldn’t fix it so he said someone from maintenance would be up later to get the toilet working. I saw this giant of a man maintenance guy coming down the hallway in gray coveralls he must have been 7 feet tall. He introduced himself with a stern look on his face (kind of intimidating) and I told him about the problem. He went to work on the toilet. Soon he came and told me it was fieexed, then he added, deed you thieenk pushing the button 27 times would fieex it? I was kind of embarrassed, he just turned around and walked away. So watching you flush the toilet numerous times brought back my cruise toilet experience. 😊

I think this ship almost makes you feel like you're on carnival even though you aren't. They REALLY needed people to feel this. It is familiar to guests so they'll like it.

i think the reason why it reminds you and some others of carnival is because this ship is basically just a reskin of a carnival spirit-class ship

One of my best memories on a cruise ship was during a big rainstorm at night. My friends and I all snuck up to the top level where there was a pool and hot tub. We hung out in the hot tub for a while with nice cold rain pouring down on us and the warm water from the hot tub keeping us warm we had the whole place to ourselves. We were all 21yo and first time on a cruise without parents. This was about 22 years ago now that I think of it. Makes me want to plan another group trip. I live in Tampa area and often see cruise ships leaving as I’m driving to work on my motorcycle over the skyway bridge. I always think to myself that I’d rather be on that boat than heading to work lol.

I was on this cruise and remember seeing you. I was a newbie cruise member and was in awe the whole time with never seeing the ocean or the beaches. Cozumel was amazing!! I would definitely go back again!!!!

It's adorable! Lots of nice touches, like the countertop colors in your suite and the decor in the main vestibule/lounge/entrance. It's not really my scene (I'm an Oceania woman) but way better than I expected.

The more options for us the better for the industry as a whole. So I’ve never done a cruise or resort with Margaritaville, but I’m all for trying it out now. Great job

Looks surprisingly nice. My biggest complaint about cruises is that they leave the destination ports at 3:30pm which doesn’t give enough time out.

It looks like MAS really got it together from the Paradise to the Islander. It’s funny it’s a Carnival Corp Spirit Class ship which is one of my favorite smaller class of ships. This might have to be a try it out in the future deal

Awesome video J! This would be the ship I would start with inder this cruise line, depending on the next ships coming. The Margaritaville at Sea Paradise either needs to be retired or a major overhaul, which would probably equal out to just replacing it. I've never sailed on the Fantasy class ships from Carnival, but I would think they are much better than Margaritaville at Sea Paradise. Nonetheless, I like what they did with this ship. You have more options and something for the kiddos if you have to bring them along. If they play their cards right, they could be a low-cost alternative and game changer for sure. I really don't get why so many cruise ships have such insanely lax security for their night clubs. It just seems like they're asking for something to go horribly wrong. Having no lifeguards though.. I'm surprised that doesn't violate a law somewhere. Rambunctious children, drunk people, and water can eeeeasily result in something going wrong in the worst possible way. Even if the pool is only like 3ft deep, you can drown in a couple inches if you're unconscious.

Thanks for the honest review, Jay! I was a bit hesitant about considering this line based on all the bad press its first ship got, but the pricing is really attractive, and I am a "parrothead". Your video made me feel a little more comfortable about considering the Islander for my next cruise.

I sailed on the maiden voyage. There were significant issues that arisen , but I do plan to return in a couple of months. Not a bad cruise at all.

Great video. I think Im going to like this ship more than the last one.

I am passing on this cruise / cruise line . For that $$ you can cruise on another cruise line that delivers better quality overall. -Plumbing is something that when an old ship does not work properly, the cost to fix it is just not justified.

Lol, we use “suck it up buttercup” a lot in our family.. the other is “first world problems” not that we. Discount legitimate problems or concerns. But let’s face it travel is a luxury for many and this looks like a great opportunity for those without grand financial means.

Back in day before WiFi in the late 2,000s we use to pray for a carnival or Royal Caribbean ship to pass us in the gulf! We were dead heading with no passengers from Key West to Belize City and call home for US prices and let our family know we were ok.

Hey Jay, Tampa here. I agree with you that there needs to be more pool loungers, I don't understand why there are not more for the 2100+ pax on a sea day. Granted, Deck 10 is where they mostly are, but the pools need to have more. I am sailing on Aug 23rd and can't wait to see our new MAS Islander. Sail safe my fellow Tampa cruiser.

Me and my wife live in Tampa and we will be going on this cruise for our first cruise. We are thinking nov or dec hopefully some of the kinks will ne worked out by then

We really like the Margaritaville hotels. Unfortunately I can not deal with being in large crowds for days, so no cruising. The rooms looked really nice compared to what I saw back in the day when I did cruise.

Looking at the itinerary & would love the KW, Cozumel but not in Aug ugh it’s too hot then, no? My 1st cruise was in June ‘06 & I vowed to never Caribbean in that heat again. Ever been to Progreso, MX? How’s it? Also you love Cozumel- have you done the Coz. Bar Hop? Amazing coastlines & only generator powered bars that close a dusk❤

I think you were in the harmony last September my parents were on it and talk about you . I think. I was supposed to go on that ship also between Royal and Carnival. I’m only at 30 ceilings and you live that close to the port. You must be a channel side guy. Lol and cruising never gets old . Congrats on your channels. I sub 2 both. Sure I’ll see you on a cruise one day. I’ll be on the 5 weeks .

I have TRAVEL advisors on this ship and they called us complaining they are starving because they can’t find any decent food!

Twerking is still a thing, eh? That's unfortunate... I had to look up what a "parrot head" is. I've never heard that term until now. Seems like a pretty solid cruise option actually. I'd try it. But that's pretty crazy you couldn't get into the MDR.
