Dear dilemma sender, It sounds like you are maintaining your complicated relationship with your dad well with boundaries, and congrats on that. However, it is not your responsibility to fix the relationships that he broke with the rest of your family. Do not try to push your family to accept him. I was very close to my father when I was younger and after being traumatized by his behavior, other people trying to push me to forgive and forget or force us into close contact was very harmful and retraumatizing to me. To make progress in getting closer, I had first to be ready to even tolerate being in contact with him, and then see effort on his side. Be mindful not to harm your relationships with the rest of your family trying to pull your dad in. You can have separate relationships with both your parents. Good luck to you ❤️

Dear dilemma sender, I've been there too. We were financially comfortable when he was around but were never happy. Nothing can compare to the peace we've had since he left(it's been 19 good years). Mind you, we had less, but we've been happy, God's been good. I relate so much to your story. You deserve so much love, I'm struggling to understand that as well and keep reminding myself.
