He is up the river with that smoke/turbo issue. New battery and new/used turbo might solve alot of the gremlins and will get it running better. But even then he still wont get 27k for it.
Gift it to Doug DeMuro! Doug: "This, is an unknown Bentley from lord knows where, here are all the quirks and features... System Fault Workshop? What a delightful little animation!"
The body panels, the lights, the rims, interior trim and carpets, intake parts, valve covers, fuel pump... There are lots of parts to sell on that thing.
You could make a good amount of money, problem is you might be holding on to inventory for a long time, how many people out there are looking for a Bentley fuel pump?
‘The power of Christ compels you!’ That genuinely made me smile. I really enjoy your channel Hoovie. Makes me want to expand my own hooptie fleet someday
Meanwhile in Moscow. Mobster: Boss! Your old Bentley is for sale. Boss: You mean the one with the smoke screen function and that only runs well on Russian Standard vodka?
I highly recommend having your Car Wizard look for ground wires and / or ground straps that are not attached properly on this Bentley. (Under the hood and under the dash, etc...This could be the problem with all these electrical gremlins ravaging this car. In my experience, I’ve found ground straps off on many different types of vehicles that were causing all kinds of strange problems. Just some food for thought.
Excellent suggestion. He should also check the batteries and the charge circuit. Low voltage on the battery at rest easily causes body modules to go nuts.
Three words: Part. It. Out. Seriously -- you could *easily* get $20K or more for all the pieces and parts, if you're willing to take the time to take the car apart and sell the parts. Heck -- you might be able to break even, depending on how much you get for things like fenders and doors and the interior parts. At this point, you've got no choice -- unless you choose to lose 10 or 15K on it... Which would suck.
LMacNeill Yup, I would sell it in pieces too. I would think the damn Bently emblems would be a couple thousand. Even the wheels alone would probably $5,000 a piece!
It’s only fraud if you arrange to have it stolen. If it legitimately gets stolen how the hell is that fraud. I had a business training in Pittsburgh once and one other guy got his car stolen. He came out and said “where’s my car”. I don’t know why but I couldn’t stop laughing.
I had a VW Phaeton will similar issues (underneath this Bentley is the same Electrics and stuff - The solution was a new computer that handled both batteries, this solved the battery voltage issue and made sure both batteries were working, took 6 months to find the probem ..... This was VW under warranty .... Good luck Neil
valve stem seal is broken, the parts costs around 50bucks but the repair around 1.500 because you almost must disasamble the whole engine. Thats why its smoking, and sucking oil.
it may not run, breaks down, smokes a ton and the key gets stuck but damn it looks good. Just shine it up and go stand next to it in public places for the attention, then wait till no ones around and have it towed home.
Here's a neat story about a guy who swapped his Bentley's 200K engine for a Phaeton's V6. www.autoevolution.com/news/bentley-continental-gt-getting-v6-tdi-from-vw-phaeton-for-better-fuel-consumption-94827.html
What, the Bentley logo on the hubcaps don't rotate upright like the Rolls? Is that a fancy B on the caps or a cross ways Motel 6 logo, har! really, love the vids, keep up the good work:)
Bilal Hussain - Quote seems a little high, but not by much... these cars are worth 20g's heading to the wreckers based on the parts being built from gold bricks.
There is a shop in Joplin Mo called PHP specialists. They may be able to help you. My dad had a GTC Speed with some bugs and they sorted it out fairly reasonably.
I would experiment with disassembling it and selling it by pieces, could be an interesting series of videos, or if you feel rather interested on the car, which looks amazing, I would consider geting rid of most electrical stuff and get a new engine, but, personally, I would do the first.
I would LS swap it and make it into a Battle Car like this i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--vT0AGPqG--/c_scale,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/szuvnvnmlfjmru4xsv3h.jpg
I just saw you channel for the first time today. If you were to look at it as a long term project maybe you could get it to a $45 - 55K price point. Get the shop manual. Take the car apart carefully (I don't mean a frame off resto) and clean all the multi-pin water tight plugs for starters (contaminated multi-pin plugs are the No.1 reason for run away spurious, hard to track down electrical gremlins that can seriously efup and confuse sensitive sensors, low voltage switchgear, blah, blah), then reunite with the specified non conductive and corrosion stopping goop and slowly work your way through the car. Bearings are rarely made for specific uses. As you know they are are made in all wds, id, od, blah, blah. I'll bet you can find one for your drive shaft woes. And, if you say "ef dat" I would not blame you. Next suggestion...part it out. And then send a fax to all the specialty vehicle insurers under your Garage Letterhead of the Bentley parts you have. By the way, I am a survivor...no no, I meant subscriber...now. Cool content and host. Not as cool as me though, and my kids are backing me up on that! But really, great stuff.
Why not document a series of selling it for parts? I'm sure parted would get you more than the total value of it together. Would also to be interesting to watch for us on what goes into it.
Take the clean body apart and part it out! Those wheels, headlights, taillights, doors, fron and rear bumpers, grille, mirrors, chrome trim, and basically all of the interior will get you some good money!
you said you purchased carfax? have you thought about enacting carfaxes guarantee??? "the exclusive CARFAX Buyback Guarantee reduces the risk involved in buying a used car. If the CARFAX Report fails to include a DMV-issued branded title (such as salvage, fire or flood damage, and odometer problems), CARFAX may buy the vehicle back for the full purchase price*"
Because of the Bentley's issues, I want it to live. I need you to fix it while I watch in hope rooting for the under dog! This poor car has been mistreated and thrown away by its prior owners. We need Hoovies garage to help it rise from the ashes. I bet most of the viewers care about this car far more than they care about than your Ferrari. I like your Ferrari but I really need to see this Bentley back to its best and those wheels make this car look stunning
