0:04 the Mercedes dealer probably appreciates your video, because watching how difficult it is to fix some of these things just makes me throw in the towel and get it done at the dealer lol.
I do agree but then its a lot easier than they make out to do your self with some tools and good flat level surface. It does take a few hours and a bit harder but unless they are using the hunter elite machines with string can do a better job than most shops. What started me down the rabbit hole was once you modify the car enough shops don't want to touch the car. Not to mention them arguing with you on how you want your alignment set. I like to do track weekends and set the car up for that. Point is you would be surprised with a little patience its not that bad, the point of time and ease the dealer isn't a bad option either. :)
Actually doesn't take a 10000 machine some caster camber plates, flat level concrete pad, two equal length rods to hang strings from and don't forget some time. This is how a lot of race teams do it when they get fancy they have mounts that bolt on front and rear to make setup go quicker. Some old guy back in the day told me how they use to do it then as stubborn as I am figured it out. Years later working at a high end race shop there I was corner balancing race cars and using my old string method which had evolved ;). Look up the tolerance or these alignment racks you would be shocked how loose they are, the only one I know that's super tight is a hunter elite machine. A person with a sting can do a lot better job than most machines I'm sure as time goes on will change but in reality for daily driven car its good enough as is.
Fitment Industries has the most garbage customer service in the industry. They like to send out damaged wheels and then try and give you a hard time returning them. Check out their reviews on Reddit.
I’m a woman, been working on cars for 25 years. Not sure I’ll ever get used to “Ohhh YOU work in cars?! Good for you”. 😖 It’s so annoying. At 17, after finishing a few project cars, needed a job and since Togo’s payed $5.50/hr I went to work instead at Oil Changers for $12/hr. It was ROUGH... pay was good but customers refused to have a girl change their oil and coworkers just kept challenging me. Went to work at America’s Tire Company as a tire tech, same thing. Now I work at Apple. Pay is good but still an uphill climb. Last week someone explained how a USB works. LOL I’m a tech manager. Basically I’m saying that it sucks when most people assume you’re not smart then when they find out you’re OK, they’re surprised and I’m supposed to be happy 🤦🏻♀️ I just need to pay bills and taxes just like everyone else and work on my cars. I know this comment is going to get someone upset but if you had a fun hobby/job you loved and everyone assumed you weren’t smart/capable then yeah. Next car meetup you go to, say to another man “Oh youYOU work in your own car? Good for you!” LOL see how that goes. Tokenism is rough.
Have to agree with you. The whole bold font "SHE FIXED IT!", while meant in a good way, was irritating. Shouldn't matter how the tech's plumbing is arranged. Ideally, it wouldn't even be mentioned. In engineering school, a thousand years ago, there was a group that provided "extra support" to people in non-traditional programs relative to their gender. Apparently, that applied to women studying engineering much the same as it applied to men studying nursing. They used phrases like "women engineers". Young lady next to me in that class rolled her eyes and said something like, "I'm not here to be a woman engineer. I'm here to be an engineer." That's always stuck with me. Sorry for the ramble...your comments just reminded me of it.
Hey Alex love your work ! I live in Sydney Australia just bought my dream car, an immaculate White C63 AMG 507 edition Coupe 2015 model one owner from new and only 20,000 ks on the clock.. I am like you totally in love with my beast 😍. I am also a motor technician now retired . Those new wheels you fitted have a very similar look to the forged alloys standard on the 507 edition . I think they are one of the nicest looking wheels I ever seen in 40 yrs in the car business . Keep up the awesome videos I am learning new things from you even after a life time in the trade, thank you and cheers from down under 🙏👌
I enjoyed the behind the scenes look at how a four wheel alignment is done. Keep the black bolt on the wheels unless you want to give people the impression that there are no bolts at all with wheel color ones. Chrome bolts would look cheap.
Those of us with the cars have a rediculous tire wear on the 1-2" inner shoulder of the tire. It will wear down to the belts if you let it, while the rest of the tire have tread. Maybe 6-10k miles, not much more. So it gets annoying replacing tires. Personally i'd prefer to lose some at the limit cornering for better tire wear.
@@dennisrobinson8008 I’d run neutral toe front and rear for the street, it will be best for tire wear. The camber depending on the chassis and mods may not be able to be set
Please buy the cheapest S600 in the country, maybe a W220, basically the biggest pile of crap and bring it back to life! Like if you want to see this please!!
Go with matching color lug bolts. Not chrome, not black. I worked with MBZ for 33 years. All we sold and recommended were Michelin tires. The Michelin Pilot series are very good tires. Sometimes customers might request a different brand. Or a more cost effective tire. The Continental was a good option.
Excellent video and great they let you film and document. The wheels are amazing! They keep the basic 'theme' of AMG/MBZ but with a little extra! I like the Black lugs.
Alex: you are 100% correct on all four wheel alignment, good call. By the way that car looks fantastic. Whenever your ready to sell your diesel let me know. I missed out on your last one. Awesome video! Thanks for sharing
Alex------I had a 4 wheel alignment last month on my Mercedes convertible and total cost was $ 75--------they have all the computer equipment as shown on your video and they provide the customer with a color print out showing all the specifications for my car. The $189 dealer price sounds out of alignment for Clearwater, Fl where I live.
The C63 AMG looks absolutely awesome! The new wheels and tyres put a nice finishing touch, like a new pair of shoes. A carbon fiber front spoiler would look great. Perhaps the same at the back for the rear diffuser...? Looking forward to the stock exhaust tips and the new roar! All in all, simplicity is the new sophistication. That's what I would go with. Not too much else. Just simple and timeless. Great videos as always, Alex. Keep up the good work!
I've always done wheel alignments with new tyres as the unevenly worn tyres will throw out your specs. Likewise, different wheels change the way the car sits on the road thus the alignment. Alex, have you ever done a back to back comparison of old vs new tyres or stock vs larger rims? Cool videos, car looks great, keep up the great work :)
Still own my 2009 c300 sport. Not AMG but it is still so nice. 120k miles and it rides so smoothly. No leaks. Clean inside and out. With today's market I'll keep it and give it to my kids some day lol.
FYI: 1lb of unsprung mass = ~5 lb of sprung (on board) mass. So, essentially taking 25 lbs off of each corner. Insane handling gains will definitely be felt. 👌🏻👍🏻🤘🏻
One thing you may not know, Daewoo was actually a pioneer of this type of dealerships. with 3 year warranty /for literally everything on car - parts + labor for free/, spare car for client to use while his own is being fixed, AA cover in some countries, and so on.
At the very beginning, I was almost expecting to hear "THIS is my Mercedes, and THIS is a Mercedes Dealership!" Anyone else visualize that? Great improvement on the car, BTW!
You know, I've often thought that women would have some advantages working on cars, mainly due to having smaller hands and forearms and thus more able to get into tighter spaces than us guys with gorilla hands.
Personally and its only my opinion but the factory C63 is the wheels I would have went with I'm all about a traditional look especially with this level of car. Every thing else that you did was spot on .
$189 I will be absolutely agree to pay , if all MB will measure and adjust alagnment like that. after I watch your video came to MB in Hoffmann estates and dude put on stand and walk away for one hour ,after one hour he back rotate front wheels and adjust something on the bottom and after 3 hours I received my car back . Super unhappy with service and time it took for that plus I was charged on top of $196 $8 with no explanation . Multipoint was performed just bad because I have noise coming from pulley or steering , nothing was mentioned about that . One good think I Hoffmann Estates MB , I call service manager Bob Sullivan and he asked me to bring car back on week day and they will inspect to make sure everything was done well , but I work from 6am to 3pm and don't have a chance to drop off my MB.
Get those CALIPERS PAINTED for sure! Will really make your wheels pop!! Not to mention will enhance the overall look of the car. Red w/black AMG stickers.
The wheels fit perfect, but not my style of wheels. I like more original or OZ ultra legera, but that is a different price range. Still like and watch all your video's from the Netherlands. The cars here are more regular dispite the higher prices here. Specially the diesels. The bmw 550D and audi SQ5 TDI are amazing machines and go to 450hp easy with simple mods.
Get a variable CP for your camera lens. It'll cut out the glares and reflections, it'll give you better vehicle footage/pictures. It also makes your colors more "punchy", helps you in less time in post.
Love the mercedes stuff on your channel, don't want to sound like an idiot but youtube is full of corvette stuff already, btw this c63 is looking great
I actually just learned how to do alightments at my college yesterday. I adjusted the toe and camber on my mazda 3 and then my team did a full alignment on a 2013 Lexus LS460. It was honestly so nice to learn

Very cool looking. The lugs are fine as they are :)
TOYS!!TOYS!!TOYS!! BOYZ AND THEIR TOYZ!! LSC you must have the most understanding wife..Goodonya Mrs LSC..Hubby takes his cars to a whole new level...love the C63 looks awesome..Great work as usual!
Take note all of you attending diploma mills, racking up asinine student loan debt, and chasing useless degrees. This woman made a stellar choice regarding higher education.
Hard to blame people who end up in the situation you're describing man. The way public education is set up funnels people to college who really don't belong there. Me for example, super smart, did biochemistry at the University of Oregon, dropped out in my third year because I was burnt out because I had hated education since kindergarten. My GPA was 3.53 when I left. But my entire life I had been told by my boomer teachers and family members that college was the best thing for me. I wish I had known trade schools existed. Now I'm in the Army and loving it.
Such a retard comment that make sense in the Trump era. If she likes it and is happy with her job then it's sure a good choice. But if someone want to do something different or invest more in studying, why blaming them and calling it useless? In the end the one with degree will still achieve greater thing and make more money....
Idiotic was the Obama administration takeover of student loans. Amazingly enough written in as part of the Obamacare legislation. Go figure. This country never had and never will a need for everyone to get a college degree despite his typical liberal view everyone deserves it. Now the few taxpayers with common sense are on the hook for 1.5 trillion in loans. that will never be repaid. Diploma mills loved his money for nothing handout. Go read about the Corinthian College fiasco for starters. Do your homework and like me that worked in the industry for years you'll understand why socialist programs fail.
@@roaddog7542 you're forgetting that lots of jobs that have no business doing so are requiring "4 year degrees" to get in. Even lots of scientific jobs could be done by a simpleton with on the job training. But since it became the norm for any employers in a white collar type business to require one for the simplest of jobs, you get outcomes like this. The problem isn't as simple as being some politician's fault. Many many things have led to this, largely caused by boomers such as yourself believing for some reason that a degree is worth something, while all having a degree really means is that you probably partied a shit ton and got good at cheating in exams and acquiring STDs.
@@roaddog7542 yes, sure, just like in europe everyone is a master degree because it's free? A selection by level/competence and not by money can be used... Degree are not useless opposite to what your saying, as long as they are delivered according to the competence and the market need. In IT we lack people, and capable people cannot study because their parent cannot afford it
- Camber doesn’t overly effect tire wear soo much. Toe being dead on is absolutely crucial. From my M5 C63 Golf R i have run greater than -2 degrees of camber front and rear with amazing tire longevity. -1.75 : -2.75 camber front/rear is usually fine. Make sure left and right spec is equal for drive ability. Beautiful C63!
My local dealer wants an hour of labor per camber bolt. Meaning if you need all of them changed an alignment can get to be over $900 with the 240 alignment fee.
The car looks good, although I am not a fan of aftermarket wheels. Stock is the way to go for me. To weigh the wheels properly for a comparison, you need to do it sans tires. The lugs should be the same color as the wheel, IMO.
Thanks for your videos I learn new things from you every day keep it up the good work My suggestion is you put black carbon fiber hud on the C63 it will be great thanks again
Nice choice on the wheels, alex. You'll really enjoy the performance of the 4s tires, I recommend them for anyone wanting great handling. 204 is coming along very nicely man. If you're ever interested in parting with the factory wheels let me know!
Hey Alex for other cars with more complicated suspension setups would you generally say its better to take it to the dealership? Like AWD setups with multiple links?
I'm pretty sure that's exactly what this video was about, wasn't it? It all depends on the dealership and the tech though. Not all places are created equally.
That intro was sort of amazing. Also Mercedes-Benz USA wants you to feel safe and comfortable before they make their moves. You are still on the list breh.
The thing with Firestone is get lifetime alignment. It does cost a little bit more then a single time alignment. It pays for itself by the 3rd aligning. As long as you own the car you don’t have to pay for alignment again. Good point about certain things the dealer is able to do better for alignment like the specific clamps and the repair kits.
If you used your stock Mercedes lugs on the Rohanas i would double check to make sure that the lugs are have a conical seat and not a ball seat since that can warp/ damage the lugseat on the wheels and it could cause the wheel to fall off as well, especially on a vehicle like this which will be driven hard. I know mercedes have both types of lugs on their cars so i figured id give you a heads up. The other thing would be to make sure you can get 7 full turns on the lugs from the E55 as the length of lugs sometimes changes when you move to a larger wheel.
Great video. Having a proper alignment definitely will prevent premature tire wear and improve the handling. The C63 looks good with the new wheels. They add a custom look without taking away from the vehicle.
Looking great. My E320 CDI is lowered with E350 17 inch wheels. I now have continuous toe alignment issues by my local garage alignment professionals. I need to go to my local dealer! Great videos
nice car, congrats. I have a 2012 C300 Sport 4matic with a stage 2, Ceramic coating in the paint, Plastic and glass, as well as the interior. Also I only use LiquiMoli and Shultz fluids which are the recommended by the factory and use only Mercedes Benz coolant due to the radiator and transmissions coolant seals. Which the MB coolant includes seals protection. I have the Carbon Fiber mirrors, rear difuser, front lip, dash and steering wheel cover and added the rear window spoiler. Stage 2 from ProjectA + tuning, added an Xpipe and kept the cats as I am in CA and Florida. Getting a custom exhaust shortly as this is a toy car. YEAA fun to drive for sure. but not as quick as yours. Adding a Carbon fiber steering wheel with pads as they work on my version. and new wheels shortly. Mine is a avangarde version W204-954
That front left tire wear was primarily from toe. Negative camber by itself doesn’t really wear tires all that bad. But negative camber with toe out will kill the inside edge of a tire really fast.
Reminds me of the KDS system we used to have at bmw. Then bmw changed over to Hunter but still using the pins the same system as mercedes. People used to put paper on the ends of the pins to get the seconds in on cars that couldn’t get back in line
Firestone will do a lifetime alignment for $200. As long as you own the car they’ll align it at any firestone at no extra cost. Balancing is inlcuded too, I think, but that might be included with the cost of mounting the tires.
I think you definitely need new headlights, they can totally change the front end of your car. I have the same problem with my C00, my lights are still clear but they have a slight brown tint to them.
do diffusers on roof and rear like on the evo and more. change the rear wing for a more agressive one that becomes an air brake. cut holes in front quarter panels and cover with mesh like on the gull wing to let air exit the top of the engine bay.
Oh wow, I've been taking my Mercs to a local tire shop that I really like, but this is way more detailed and scientific looking than what they can do so I'm going to the dealer next time! ... but dangit, driving to Chicago is just a few too many thousands of miles for a job like that. On the other hand, it does sound like a pretty fun road trip... Those new wheels look SO MUCH BETTER, though! Grats on your gorgeous, perfectly aligned car!! And I think your original lugs look fantastic in this application!
