Kieran was truly a wild ride for sure. Had he gotten one more hurricane confuse hax to happen to Ogrepon, or had Kieran at least had one switch-inducing move for his team to ruin his perish song cheese, we would have seen Wolfey be saltier than the dead sea and return with the most tryhard team he could have ever imagined for the rematch just to take a giant dump on the man.
God imagine if Kieran got the Fickle Beam 30%. Wolfey's reaction to seeing a half HP Tera Water Ogrepon dying to a special move would be hilarious. Grimm or Incin should've gotten parting shot, which would counter Perish Trap. And they should've given Hydrapple Flash Cannon just so Kieran could keep his Tera Fighting but still have coverage for fairy. Still, this was a really good fight and I hope there are more like it in the future
@@flopps1051I definitely expected him to hit me with the focus blast...wasn't sure if hydrapple got that or not with his evasive dropping...found the Tera type choice to be odd though ...since he had politoed and could've had Tera water instead
This happened to me when I fought amarys with a half assed level 60 team. Lost 5 in a row. Went to my box brought my actual team I use in vgc. To smack that girl out of her fuckin biome. Not proud of it. LOL
That's actually so sad story wise 😂 he got rejected by his pokecrush and then he when he sees her again he gets so mad he tries to kill her?? Called it in the teal mask that he sounds like a future school shooter for all intents and purposes this is as close as game freak can get to that concept
@@lipika2841i remember when fenniken was announced it was getting more love than the other starters, then as soon as the final forms were revealed everyone jumped ship😂
I love how Wolfy misses all the hints with Lacey (The Costal Biome where she's located has a remix of Driftveil City's theme, her hairclips have the same gemstone that Clay's hat does, and she *flat out says* her father is a Unovan Gym Leader before the match) and is surprised that her Ace is a Tera-Fairy Exadrill...
TBH, I’m not surprised. Most PokéTubers either don’t actually know as much about Pokémon (and it’s games/characters/lore) or are button smashers because they don’t actually care about story. Competitive PokéTubers tend to fall into the latter. Not in it for the story, but for the Pokémon themselves. I mean, what do you expect from a guy that just does “Perish Song then switch” for major story battles? That’s not someone who is playing for the story. Those battles are just a checkpoint that needs to be crossed to advance further.
@DatVideoDoe well yeah but pokemon really needs va. That's just the opinion of someone who was reading text boxes since "gotta catch them all" first aired.
@@mdbigboi191 except it’s one of the only gaming franchises that can’t really do that. 1) Casting voice actors would most definitely increase the possibility of story leaks, since they’d need to hire voice actors for each language. 2) There’s a Pokémon anime and there’s no telling if the VA they cast for a character in-game will be available or able to play that same character for the anime.
The joy I had when wolfey said he was gonna stop using perish trap, getting to watch him finally experience the actual difficulty of the dlc. I really loved that they actually made the elite 4 and kierans teams good!!
@@stallsunguy3064I feel the same. Although I am happy this pushed me from, "maybe I'll try EV training someday" to actually doing it; I can't help but think of the poor kids whose first Pokemon game this is. I first played Red/Blue when I was maybe 6 or 7. I just learned to spell. Kids can't be expected to look up strats or have parents who will help them. Would have been fun to have the BB League as a post story instead of blocking you from Teragos.
They do have EVs. Kieran’s Porygon-Z outsped my 150-ish speed Metagross while it was at -1. It would’ve needed close to max speed EVs and a +speed nature to do that.
@ghengiroo4143 Yep, I fought Drayton blind with the team I caught for the challenge and his flygon outsped my Beartic with slush rush active. Luckily I had given my Abomasnow enough HP to survive a fire punch with snow up, but it gave me a genuine scare.
Actually all trainers in every pokemon game have EV's, not really maximised for potential, but there is kind of a "difficulty level" of a given NPC that decides how much EV's they have in all their stats.
@@ryle2965 how did you get outsped? i have pretty ok knowledge of slush rush beartic, you dont even need max speed (31 iv 252 ev positive nature) to outspeed a dragapult in snow im p sure that flygon has like a choice scarf lol
@professoryorick5676 I believe I minted it to be adamant and didn't bother with IVs. I did some EV training but it was mostly in offenses and bulk (mostly because I thought Beartic was base 65 speed instead of base 50). Flygon is 100% life orb.
For the double battles where you had to catch your team, I swept with reuniclus and slaking. Skill swap into the slaking and then he sweeps with hammer arm on all three trainers. Reuniclus tanks heavily.
When I fought Kieran, I dubbed over his lines with a little bit of Youth and determination, with a touch of Anger put into it. I also freaked out when he brought out INCINEROAR of all things!
Mans has hella meta choices...dragonite, grimmsnarl, and incineroar...was definitely a fun one...and it fits his mentality at the time to want only the best
@@bagfaceman1656That’s a good question. I’d assume if proto was activated by booster energy it wouldn’t take it away since it burned an item, like how zacian would keep its attack boost if weezing switched in. But if it was coming from the sun I would assume the boost would go away since if the weather goes away, that boost does too
for anyone worried about the BP grind: its not that bad if you do all the trainer battles, you get 200 bp per 5 + union circle (coop) increases the bp gained too, took me 4 hours in total, so if you have no time because of RL and lets say play 30-60 min you're done within a week, for anyone with more time you can do it in one sitting and you'Re through edit: flying trials give lots of bp too!
@@DaTimmeh I did the whole DLC with a random group of untrained Pokémon left over from when I'd stopped playing months ago. I was basically just powering through the whole game with swords dance Ceruledge just to gain access to Violet's post-game stuff so that I could send it to Scarlet.
Fantastically entertaining video Mr Wolfe, loved the Perish Trap team. It was more fun because the stalliness meant I could see what all of them have got cooking! Great content
Why the heck is the Dragon-type specialist in the ice place!? Also, can we talk about how he crit captured the entire Reuniclus line? World Champ Difference goes hard sometimes
If I remember correctly he jokingly said himself that it’s weird but he actually likes or is used to cold environments despite being the obvious dragon type user
It's actually pretty ironic, in fact the entire elite 4 is. Drayton (dragon) is stronger than lacey (fairy), lacey is stronger than amarys (steel), and amarys is stronger than the fire guy
I absolutely love how they put an element of what we do as VGC players in our battle against Kieran; that would definitely introduce more new players into the VGC scene
I played through the DLC blind and then came back to watch your reactions. I loved double battles and these teams were actually good. I only used Pokemon I caught in the area. They are pretty high-level, but there were some tough fights. I wonder if pokemon will move to self-serve for items and pokecenter in some games. It'd be funny, things irl are heading that way. edit: same, this is a better DLC than the first one. Joltik jumping makes me so happy ^.^ I'm upset the upgrades are 3,000 each. I get that's where some of the play time is... but teh BP tasks are boring.
@@stratastar I love watching people new to Pokémon play this game. I’ve seen people, even people pretty good at the game, get destroyed. Wolfe nearly lost a few matches with a champion team, and people will still call it a baby game, but new people just have fun losing and learning.
It's a shame that I didn't have a team for that, but I would've liked doing a "protect the President" meta game in the Kieran battle around Ogrepon. Just for the memes.
Interesting, you are the second you tuber that I watched playing the DLC. MandJ hat no trouble with the steel type elite 4. The one giving him trouble was drayton, but he went with a balanced team without strat shenanigans like perish s..
I honestly thought you would change team after a while. This perish song stall team may have the chance to see the complete move pool, but it actually becomes kinda boring. And if you really wanted to play perish stall.. Why not change team to a lapras centered perish s. Team with the new mons in the dex?
Or you just answer the question without beeing cocky, ignore what I wrote, or simply skip the comment section. Thanks for the shadow tag mentioning, next time you should practice some good manners.
Kieran has a team of OP VGC Pokemon, he just wanted revenge against us for stealing Orgepon from him, and possibly making him look like a fool because of how "strong" we are
@@doritoisback I don't want to play on a phone or computer. I prefer something that actually feels like gamefreak. If that makes sense. Real pokemon games just have a different feeling.
Its not pokemon, but I had a lot of fun with the "double battles" in cassette beasts. Its all doubles throughout and very charming overall, can be bought pretty cheap for switch.
Pokémon Collusium and Pokémon XD are pretty much exactly what you’re looking for. Sure, they’re old and don’t look great, but they’re still fun and legitimately difficult games that focus entirely on doubles.
Eh it wouldn't have mattered. He was grossly overleveled. I only came to see if he built a new level-parity team to make indigo disk more challenging and if he had any interesting opinions on them introducing everyone to doubles strategy. But because it's so easy to overlevel before indigo disk, it's too simple to simply steamroll with old pokemon
Black and White 3 would be amazing...especially since they have mention of Unova in this dlc...so it'd be cool if they could tie in some of the characters...and it'd be a nice change of pace from the usual remakes...given how meh the last one was
Gods damn man, get those SFX turned down. Every single click of the A button progressing anything made such a harsh clicking noise that I could turn the volume down until I literally couldn’t hear Wolfe clearly but could still hear that sound clear as crystal.
Not sure if you are playing with camera set as far but that really helped my motion sickness. I just wish we could change camera sensitivity on the x and y direction
Wolfey I have a challenge for you gud sir, climb all the way to top 100 master ball rank with Meganium, using one of the worst and most neglected pokemon of all time. You skill cap shoul be up to the test :)
As a content creator Wolfe, I feel like you dropped the ball on these streams by going for “sweaty try hard” instead of bringing in locally caught mons and playing the dlc as intended with challenge. Watching you take on the fights I had fun with by cheesing them with perish trap was really disappointing and not entertaining to watch. I almost always love your content and this is the first time I have disliked it.
Bringing in locally caught mons and playing as INTENDED? Bro wanna know how the game should be at this point? All level scaled to match the player's level even if you bring a LV 100 Pokémon. I'm seeing too much of this and I'm starting to realize that who plays S and V doesn't know shit on how games should be made. And besides it's not his main content overall to casually play the game so as long as he had fun he played on his own intended way (which was the "new" intention of the game right from the start btw to play freely)
@@teadeity363and the other people are also giving their opinion lmao, if you give a opinion you know is controversial, don't get surprised when you get criticized back. regarding your original comment, your criticism basically boils down to "hey wolfey I wasn't having fun watching you play the game the way I wanted so you shouldve changed your gameplay in order to fit MY needs." you see how dumb that sounds?
