No offense, but youtube has made me hate the word wholesome. It used to mean nutritious and healthy. Now it seems to mean kind or uplifting. Can't people just say it's uplifting? Why does everyone have to say wholesome? It's almost as bad as "let's go!" Maybe I just hate internet fads.
@@mygirldarby I apologize in advance, you found my special interest. To me that's one of the coolest things about language. It's constantly changing and updating. Back when Mark Twain was around, he used "wholesome" as a synonym for "safe," which I feel like is closer to the current usage than "a complete and wholesome breakfast." So it changed to being about food and now is swerving back to a broader definition. For me "uplifting" doesn't quite capture the endearing nature of inspiration I find from this video, so I went with "wholesome" because I think it fits the exact coziness and joy that this pair supporting each other gave me. In a decade, "wholesome" might mean something completely different from any of these uses because the world si.ply might need it to mean something else. But that's just language and it's kind of amazing that it adapts to our culture and society and what it needs when it needs it like that!
this vid really proved to me that as far as athletics go, everybody has their own strengths. Im not super athletic at all (maybe just mildly fit) but it's so wild seeing a dude who is crazy strong like that not be able to do a standing backbend- but i can? Haha but then if you ask me to do a pull up, i couldnt do a single one 😂 its so crazy and really shows how differently everyones bodies are built 😮
@@i_want_my_shuggah my back strength is good imo; I just have noodle arms because I don't work them out and I'm a small female. I can do a hundred situps in one session but no pullups 😂 I'm 5'2 and 110 lbs I just have really weak arms lol. Even though most women can't do pullups it would still be cool to be able to do a couple eventually. I struggled a lot with this when I was the only girl in my parkour classes. The boys had no issue pulling themselves up onto structures but I couldn't do it most of the time because that's not where my natural strength is. Now, if I could pull myself up with just my legs, that would be a different story 😂
@@BeesRecipesdayum, I just took measures of myself and we are just almost exactly the same height and weight (though I'm lighter than you). I can do between 12-14 chin over the bar pull-ups with prone grip (good form) and recently surpassed +6 pistol squats with both legs. Can you do pistol squats?
@@BeesRecipesI am a woman, and after seeing my brothers pull themselves up so easily, I decided to learn. It took me about 6 months though… and I can only do one
I love the videos you do with other types of athletes. So interesting how two people’s bodies can work so differently depending on how you train. The big guy is my fav though! Love you guys together!
Because of you, I tried standing pancake at yoga tonight. I can do it!! I could only go as low as the width of my mat, though. I need to find a longer mat!
At 57, I was still able to build strength and flexibility, but now a 64, everything is slower. I am happy to maintain even without major gains and no injuries. I challenge with new skills vs conditioning to keep it interesting.
For the baki pose, you can try lifting yourself up on your fingers with your non-dominant hand. It’s mostly a balancing skill, so you can train it as you would a handstand, though you really have to nail that sweet spot. Ask someone to help you stay in the same position until you have enough stability. That tip about the hand facing your legs is to prevent swinging. Once you get yourself on one arm, you might rotate around it, so you can try to shift your weight toward the ground, hips up. Good luck.
This serie is so fun to watch. I'd like to see you David with a martial arts athlete. I'm interested in martial arts and seeing you try it on YT would be so fun. I'd like to see you learning how to kick with proper form.
David i had a question your hips flexibility and legs flexibility are amazing even your shoulders are really awesome but when we compare to your back bend its significantely lower why is that so? Do you not train it often or you had a previous injury ? Ofc im politely asking and not trying to hate i love all your videos and your good vibes man much love ❤❤
How to get into flexibility training in my 40's? I used to be somewhat athletic wayyyy back, but 20 years of sitting at a computer has made me a literal potato.
I have some body parts that are extremely tight and when I stretch these muscles, they tighten up. So I stretch them lighter and they tighten up. Then I stretch hard and they tighten up. I rest and they stay the same. For some muscles, I can stretch like a normal person but for others it's not so simple. I have to find what works and I would benefit from you explaining this in depth if possible. I appreciate your content
