you can still get 30-35k cheaper Tradesman truck or this GC in base trim in 40s, nobody should expect this in full leather and 3 screens in front for that

With exception of the ZJ, I've never really been a fan of the Grand Cherokee, but this new design has really caught my eye. I saw one out in the wild and it looked good

It’s nice to see Stellantis putting in resources to revamp Jeep, but I’m still curious of their plans for the other passenger car divisions, namely Dodge and Chrysler.

Man at $72k this vs. a fully loaded X5 xdrive40… Also anyone know if ‘22 GC’s come standard with tow pack? tried to build and price one online and the $1200 towing package you can select on the GC-L isnt showing up in any trim level. Could it be included now?

While I know you didn’t have an option here, but please include towing tests with travel trailers. At highway speeds the wind resistance on a travel trailer has much bigger impact than weight. It would be great to see how well tow vehicles do when towing a travel trailer (even small ones, but not tear drop as those have much less frontal area). Impact to gas and power should really show which tow vehicles are up to the task and which aren’t.

I kind of laughed when you talked about the mirrors not being quite large enough. When you get down to that level or detail talking about a towing vehicle, you know you rock at your job.

I was never a grand Cherokee fan, till now. Once my jk is paid off I’ll definitely be looking at one of these. Cause soon as my jk is paid off I’m doing the 1 ton axle swap. I have the front Dana 60 ready to go now I’m looking for the rear axle… 8 more payments. Then my jk will be a trailer king. Hahahahaha

Being that this bad boy is a summit, it will actually have Quadra Drive 2, not quadra track 2 as said in the video. Love these reviews!

I just went to auto trader and pulled up all the V8 Summits in my area and the window sticker on all of them say Quadra Track 2. The only V8 GC's I can find with the Quadra Drive 2 are the TrailHawk models. I would love a summit for the adaptive cruise but I also want the Quadra Drive 2. I know I could order one but I cant see buying new in this market.

Hi Tommy, Great video!!! Just wondering what engine oil temp you get when towing? Somedays, it gets up to 125c on mine. I think it is a bit too high for the hemi? Mine is 2014 GC overload 5.7

Don't be fooled, the Grand Cherokee towing capacity is 3500 lbs and not 6200 lbs! You have to choose the trailer tow prep group.

Yes, please do cross the chains! I’ve seen the result of a breakaway trailer without the chains crossed and it wasn’t pretty.

Absolutely it is, TFL is usually excellent about it. Maybe this setup was just given to them to test drive without chains crossed and Tommy didnt think to double check? He 100% knows better based on other videos.

No way I'd ever tow 7K#s with a vehicle that size, or maybe any size, without a trailer brake controller. The fact a $70K vehicle that is rated to tow that much weight doesn't have one is stupid.

7k would be pushing for something this size, but 5-6k with a $200 aftermarket TBC or built in surge brakes like on most boat trailers sure. This has a pretty long wheelbase compared to most 2 row crossovers, and fully loaded versions approach curb weight of 5000 lbs; plus built in tech like trailer sway control, and load leveling rear suspension should help keep things in shape.

I am a towing novice and may need to tow with our 2021 Grand Cherokee L. You said it doesnt have an integrated trailer brake. Did you install one on this towing test? If so, what do you recommend and could you show the trailer brake install for the one you used? Do I really need one? Seems odd to me that Jeep would put out a towing capable vehicle without a trailer brake if it was needed.

I don't understand why you guys promoting the Jeep and still have it listed with high ORI score when the air suspension has been discontinued for 2022. You can't buy it or order it, its not back ordered its completely removed for 2022 only whatever is sitting on dealer lots is whats left.

They really set the bar when they released the original wk in 2005. Still one of the best automated 4wd systems ever. Front and rear and center electronic limited slips. Capable of almost 100% lock to all four wheels. The next gen used BLD for the front.

Do you know if the lock function works only by button or also automatically similar how g80 does it?

@@tallll70 the 2005-2010 models were automatically locked by computer and stayed locked tell the throttle was released or few seconds after the original slip was detected. System worked smoother than the newer BLD setups. Even wheeling in rocks the system was sensitive enough and stayed locked for few seconds after to allow placement on rocks without two pedal driving or reving the engine to spin tires.

@@classicgamescanada No 6.4L but theres rumours of a turbo inline 6 called the "Tornado" on the way. SRT was sadly disbanded and "folded into other parts of Stellantis"

Glad I just bought the old one which one of the last or the last 5.7's built in October. So mine with the V8 was 51k on the window. This one Tommy showed off was 73k. Can not see where the other 20k of value goes besides the passenger display, air suspension and tow group I do not have. The interior is very nice on the new. Is it worth 20k more over the old one. I don't think so.

For me, I'd buy a Land Cruiser for $80k if I had this kind of coin. This $73k Jeep will sell for $40k 1-2 yrs old. There will be a huge initial depreciation.

Yup, it will sell for pennies.. if it was reliable it would have amazing resell.. that’s how resale value works..so to all the jeep lovers, turn to resale value to prove how unreliable it is.

Cheapest version is not really 4x4, but AWD ONLY. If you want 4x4 (4 lo), you need 4wd two or three

What do you get vs BMW, Mercedes, LR, better powertrains. I know everyone loves the Hemi, but you can get the same HP from a 3.0 turbo 6 and a little better mpg. This is where Jeep needs to up their game.

Gas turbo is not all beneficial for truck, it has it's advantages while eco riding v6 or in altitudes, but once you step on it pulling that truck weight ,or even worse, hauling, turbos make economy worse... no benefits having dohc, more difficult engine with even more parts to boost it under higher stress... Ecoboost in Edge or Mustang for example are much better applications

@Joe D My 2009 Charger R/T AWD just died on me. After buying it in 2011 with 28k miles on it, it gave me ten years and 248k miles of good service. It never had any major problems tbh. 2009 was the first year for the MDS and VVT systems in the 5.7 Hemi. The only thing that I ever had problems with was its power steering pump for its last 5k miles. Damn thing spun a rod bearing, I literally cried as it got winched up the roll back. It was probably my own fault, I didn't change the oil as often as I used to went from every 4,500mi to every 6,000mi trying to save a buck on the beater.
