In this video I trained like steph curry for 50 days to improve my shooting. I practiced Steph Curry's shooting tips from his masterclass to see how much I could improve my jump shot in 50 days with before and after percentages. I've been a huge fan of basketball, the NBA, and Steph curry for quite a while now, so I had fun training like Steph Curry for the last 50 days, and was happy with how much I improved! Hope you like it.

My shooting has improved immensely after I taught myself to shoot with my “entire body.” This sort of lines up with Steph saying to shoot “from the ground up.” This has helped me shoot way quicker off the dribble/catch, as well as improved my ability to shoot off balance shots. With off balance shots, I make sure that my feet and follow through always end up towards the rim by the time I land.

When you put in the work and feel discouraged because the results don’t match the effort I always think to an analogy that Greg Popovich told the Spurs. “A sculptor can strike a stone one thousand times without result and then on the stroke one thousand and one, the stone breaks.” That has stuck with me and keeps the motivation there to push through.

Great video. You made huge progress and gave us hope that hard work with knowledge equals success. One area you can continue to improve on is to keep your guide hand straight and on the ball all the way through the release. That was one of my problems and when I focused on it, it improved my shooting a lot.

Yeah for real, he doesn't even square to the basket. He keeps his feet turned so his elbow his aligned to the basket. That's the proper way to shoot. Feet squared from the basket is old school and way outdated.
@TRxh98
@TRxh98 2 года назад
@@mattycampy Fundamentals? 😂😂 Bruh you realize that shit originated from the 60s and 70s right? Thats why old ass coaches be teaching these kids these awful techniques and wondering why they can't shoot. And Klay also shoots with his feet turned in game, his feet are more square to the basket then Steph but again he rotates his whole body. Look at his form AFTER he shoots. His whole body is rotated. So even if he starts more squared to the hoop, he eventually rotates. This is nothing new at this point. It's common sense, look at KD, Damian Lillard, Kyrie, Joe Harris etc all good shooters and all shoot with their elbow aligned to the hoop (meaning their feet are adjusted to the side with the foot on the dominant shooting hand side being ahead of the other)
@newphonewhodis8833

What some people don't realize is that by first learning the basics and doing them over and over and over again...once you get really good at the basics you find yourself implementing the basics in your play even when it LOOKS like you aren't - and you can adapt them to yourself and to unique situations. I had a tennis instructor who was, at one point ranked 78th among women (yeah, I know that sounds low, but for those who play tennis, that's pretty good). For weeks she had us pushing our rackets perfectly perpendicular to the ball so that we weren't "swinging" but pushing at the ball when we made contact. I wondered why because you never see a pro doing this forward straight pressing "swing". However, she was just concerned we hit the ball with the racket face perpendicular to the ball's direction - over and over and over and over again. Then, after several weeks (with some other teaching regarding swinging our racket), she stopped requiring this straight motion BUT, I was blown away, even with the racket moving in what looked like an arc (rather than a straight push) I was making shots perpendicular to the ball's movement even in when the swing LOOKED like an arc and the ball was going where I aimed. So, it may not LOOK like Steph Curry shoots like that, but he first learned the basics and then he was able to adapt those basics...

I’m biased because I love basketball but probably my favorite video from you guys. I’ve actually been teaching my little brother how to shoot properly and he’s also had a transformation of a double handed shot into a much better one handed release. This video reminds a lot of the training and practice I had to do with him. We still shoot around everyday as now our goal is to expand his range to shooting from the free throw line with good form. Awesome to see that your shot actually looks better than your brothers and is smooth. Just some fine tweaking with letting the release hang out a little longer, starting the shot lower for more power, and footwork but it’s looking good! Also, these type of videos are awesome. I know they take waaaaay longer to film as it’s 2-3 months in the making but I enjoy these type of videos as it gives us a better look at how challenging it is to change habits from a technical standpoint and a look at the the high and lows of getting into a new hobby/goal. Congrats on the videos, new shot. Keep it up!

@@jeffrychen1794his current method dose not have a ceiling. It's a good idea to work on your shot instead of copying some one else's. If you ever watch pros shoot in basketball your not going to see two players shoot the same. Everyone has difrint set points and release points. As long as your refining the fundamentals of a jump shot. Proper hip movement, wrist release etc your golden to make a jump shot your own. Look at Larry bird no one else has ever shot like him. Man, I feel you! I had never trained in a league setting but pretty much had to play because all my cousins did. It grew on me but I was always catching L's and my shot was uuuuugly. The only thing I had going for me was being quick and driving to the basket. As I got older, slower, and fatter, I had to change up my game, and I focused on changing my ugly ass shot. I youtubed the hell out of shooting form. I sound like a commercial but what majorly worked for me was "pro shot shooting." It really shows (through game clips) how what's traditionally taught in terms of shooting form is a lot of BS (such as all 5 toes pointed to the rim, making an L with your elbow like a waiter, etc). You can actually see it in the shooting forms of the great shooters and even you started to (naturally) deviate from tradition to start looking more like the pros towards the end of your video when you were shooting 3s. Being aware of consistently doing the little things like having toes slightly slanted instead of square to the basket, staying on your toes and off the heels, dipping before the shot, index finger release, hopping and sweeping your feet, etc, really went a long way into improving my shot. I highly recommend you check out their videos. Shot Mechanics on YT is another good channel that touches on (similar) techniques not traditionally taught.

Good job bud I'm really really proud of you.💪 PS everyone heard the old saying before when you put your mind is something and takes practice and hard work you can do it but it takes a lot of dedication practice and time and patience no matter what you are trying to accomplish in life. If it's your reading level or getting better at basketball or any kind of sports or learning how to speak better and better sentences and to explain things to people in a perfect way. With me I suffer with chronic lyme disease I was misdiagnosed for almost a year the CDC in Madison Wisconsin denied me two times and I had all the symptoms my white blood cells and platelets were low and they are still affected. I had to go doctor the doctor to get different opinions and some doctors didn't believe in late stage or chronic lyme disease. So I put matters into my own hands and called my insurance and told them that I wasn't getting the best treatment as possible so they finally found a doctor Milwaukee Wisconsin the doctor decided to do IV antibiotics because I never got the treatment I was supposed to get 3 weeks but the doctor had to stop treatment in about 1 week because the medication was decreasing my white blood cells and my platelets even more. There's no one size fits all for any kind of treatment. And even though I am still suffering today with chronic fatigue my neck and my shoulders ache and I believe I might have fibromyalgia I lost a lot of weight currently I am 5'9 weigh 135 lb I'm not underweight but if I get about at 125 lb and that I am. And even though I can't do the things I used to do like do hard workouts for a long period of time I just need to be grateful of the Lord that is giving me every day of the blessings even if it's little ones. But I need to trust the Lord through My Savior Jesus Christ no matter what and I found a clinical trial through the NIH through Lyme disease but I don't have the funds to get there but hopefully one day I will. I know there's days where I feel so alone because sometimes I feel like I'm suffering by myself but I know there's many people suffering upon this world with different diseases and different things. And I know we're not promised tomorrow but I know Stephen Curry has a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. And even though when someone becomes a child of God a Christian you are still going to have problems and ups and downs because becoming a Christian doesn't make you think that you're not going to have things that's going to happen in life because Christians can still get diseases like cancer. I want to make this one more note Christianity is not a religion it's a relationship with God to Jesus Christ to be reconciled back to the father through Jesus. And the Lord can set us free from our mistakes our sins if more people will follow the teachings of the Lord this world will be a better place because God did Jesus Christ through his holy spirit is love. He is forgiven he's patient slow to anger he gives us Grace upon Grace upon us every day and we can do the same upon others. And the do our best to love our neighbor as ourselves even if we come across a negative person putting negative words upon us we need to remember the fruit of the Spirit and the fruit of the spirit is love joy peace patience kindness goodness faithfulness gentleness and self-control against such things there is no law. I wanted to give you another double PSPs. I'm so proud of you bud you did a good good job because that feeling when you accomplish something you have a feeling inside of you of a joyful bringing back that feeling when you was a kid opening a present that you feel like you're on the top of the world for a little bit....🔥🔥🔥

Love the video! Just looking at your form, you should be loading your wrist way earlier. Even when you are towards the end of your motion your wrist stays disengaged. Also, ten toes to the hoop is a pretty archaic ideal and almost every great shooter (including Steph) have a significant turn. Be more focused on aligning your hips and elbow on a straight path and not your toes. You have a decent one motion shot which is a great start! Last note, with my follow through I think about throwing my pointer and middle finger into the rim if that makes sense.

That was a cool video to watch you hooked me... I started playing basketball in 10th grade never played before that ... Hardly at all . I was a skate boarder(skater) And found out I could jump really high from boarding... So with determination like yours I practiced daily shooting 500 jump shots a day and 500 free throws daily... Plus working in my foot work with platform shoes... I end up forming a team for my school A alternative school .. I also played college ball... It's crazy how a little determination can change things around..

Came here to say the same thing. Those park hoops (and backboards, which I believe are made of depleted uranium) are the least-forgiving setups possible. I get that some might say "Oh it forces you to shoot better", but not being able to use a backboard isn't quite real world.

I love the video, the editing has definitely improved. As someone who has studied shooting I have a couple of suggestions to how you can improve your form. Firstly I want to point that Steph is a really good example of a talented performer but a not-so-good teacher. There are really two main things I wanted to touch on, it is the 10 toes to the basket and extending your range through dipping the ball. So in the masterclass he said to point both feet directly to the basket. This idea is an archaic form of teaching people how to shoot, basketball back then didn't utilize jumpshots, so being as parallel to the rim as possible increases the chance of making it. Unfortunately this still gets taught today, even taught by the pros even though it is the closest thing from it. From the man himself, Steph, breaks this rule on timestamps 7:35 and 8:05, and it is not because he is a pro and gets away with but because it is the natural way the body follows the shot. Cam if you pause on 12:58 and 13:04, you can already see that your right foot is leading the left both at the apex of your jump and landing. Having 10 toes facing the rim stiffens your shooting shoulder, the right and natural way is actually having your shooting elbow, hip, and shoulder pointed at the rim. Fatigued shoulders do not shoot well!!! As for the feet, keep them about 20-30 degrees pointing to the left insuring the right foot is in front. You can try this at home right now, pretending you are shooting, holding your form mid way and change from 10 toes(squaring) to slight angle with the lead foot, the difference is night and day(Yes this works for leftys too). Next he said that the mechanics of your shot remains the same whether its near the basket or 3, I do agree but it needs a bit more explaining and to put it simply, you do not use the same amount of power to shoot near the rim like you do at the 3 therefore, slight changes in your form must happen in order for your to properly get the shot in from deep. Dipping the ball is using stored energy from your legs and transferring it to your shot on the way up. Because he has a one motion shot and it really hard for non basketball fanatics to see, check out how Ray Allen shoots from the three, he does not just go into this shot from catch, he gathers by dipping the ball THEN going into his shot. Doing this allows you to bend the legs storing your energy, and syncs both upper and lower torso together to create a fluid shot on the way up. Harmony between both upper and lower torsos are what makes players deadly shooters. Again if you want to try this, from the three, have someone pass you the ball and go straight into your form, and be aware about how sticky and unconnected it feels, then from the catch, try and act like your legs are a coil and dip the ball with the legs, then go up together into the shot, I promise it will feel soooo much smoother Hope this helps anyone fix their jumpshot!!!
