Zora village to Zora's domain isn't the only one they forgot, Rito village is the only village, as it's Goron city and Gerudo town
@Sqk.

There’s probably just no distinction in the original Japanese. As a side note, it always pissed me off how it was called Goron City in BoTW (and now ToTK) despite it being like 6 houses.

Haha, idk why when i scripted this goron and gerudo village sounded fine to me, but youre totally right!

@@Sqk. Zora's domain - ゾーラの里 - ZŌRA no Sato (no Sato meaning village (and just no meaning of, according to google translate), so Village of the Zora, but if you google translate the whole thing it does end up as Zora's domain (for whatever thats worth), as a bonus, Domain translates to ドメイン - Domein Goron City - ゴロンシティ - GoronShiti (Shiti meaning city) Rito Village - リトの村 - Rito no mura (no mura meaning Village (google translate) of, so Village of (the) Rito) Gerudo Town - ゲルドの町 - Gerudo no machi (No machi translates to: the town of, so the town of (the) Gerudo Disclaimer: I'm not Japanese nor so I speak or read the language, I used google translate to translate from English to Japanese, then looked the Japanese word I got up and checked if it was correct (and corrected it if it wasn't, then translated the Japanese back to English after to get the results (and removed the race name after to figure out if it was city, town, village)

@@Kaitachimaru Thanks for the info. Zōra no Sato means essentially ‘village/home of the Zora’ (pretty close to the English imo). Domain would not ‘translate’ to Domein, but rather that is the direct transliteration (phonetically converting English to Japanese)

@@Sqk. ah, yeah I always take what google translate spits out with a grain of salt, but it's the only thing I have haha, as for why Goron city is called city, I think it's partially because it was called that in oot, and maybe Hyrule doesn't differenciate between village, town and city, but all just mean "place where people live regardless of size"

There are many more Hylian texts to decipher, such as the texts on newspaper. And the word in Purah's old lab is "famulus", which means assistant, likely refering to Simon.

@charliecharliewhiskey9403 11 месяцев назад
It's not Ramulus, it's Famulus. The same symbol is used for F and R. "Famulus" is a latin word meaning "assistant" or "servant", "especially of a magician or scholar".

I like deciphering these kinds of text in the game. It’s why I deciphered all the ancient Hyrulean words from the thirteen inscriptions before hearing the games take on it.

There's a few places I can think that could use a little translation, althought it could be easy to miss. When link goes to the Skyview towers and activate them, the blue circles lines inside the tower cylinder have Hylian written on them. Also, when Link is sending/recieving the data from the skyview tower, some letters can be seen on the cord as it travels. I've always wondered what it said, unfortunatly, I lack the technology to record and therefore cannot look for myself.

There are also three signs stuck to the wall in the lower level of the two-story staircase that we can buy for our Tarrey Town Dreamhouse. I can decipher the headings on two of them (middle sign says "caution" and left sign says "accounts"), but I can't decipher the sign on the right side because it contains a symbol that isn't in the Hylian alphabet in the Hylian translator, and the smaller text on all the signs is just too small to see (and gets blurred when I look at it through the camera and scope)

i was thinking "Romulus" was referring to the myth of Romulus and Remus, ancient rome’s founding, as the legend goes. Obviously hyrule doesn't have a rome, but it could be a analogy of some sort, to something. But thats just my thoughts. Amazing video!

It was “Ramulus” tho he just said it weird
@charliecharliewhiskey9403

It's actually "Famulus". Hylian uses the same letter for F and R. "Famulus" is a Latin word linked to the word "familiar" (like a witch's familiar), and it means "servant/assistant" especially of a magician or scholar.

the fact that they use the same symbol for many letters peeves me

It does make translating more difficult, but there are real life languages that do the same thing, so technically not unrealistic
