Hello friends! I received a few questions about using different types of yarn to crochet the frog in my tutorial video (linked below), including questions about using the fluffy, velvety yarn as seen on TikTok and other social media these days. I've wanted to try this yarn out for so long! (I actually have had the Sweet Snuggles and Bernat Baby Blanket yarns since January, but have been to nervous to try them out. Thanks for the encouragement!)💖 I hope this video shows how different yarn types and thicknesses, along with different sized crochet hooks, will create a different sized frog.

Thanks so much! Bernat is one of my favorite yarns, it goes on sale a lot and it has decent mileage for projects. I was able to get it for like $6 a ball recently.

Hi! I’m attempting to learn how to crochet and I decided to start of with a frog I’m sure it’ll be difficult so do you have any tips? Also what yarn do you recommend and size hook? I don’t want anything too thin bc I don’t want my frog to be too small yknow? Sorry for the trouble, thank you

Hi! I recommend you start with a 4mm crochet hook! Some tips, Count your stitches, Follow the steps ( i skipped some the first time and it went trash ) I hope this helps a little bit!

This is a great question! You can definitely use the scrap yarn that you have left over from crocheting an amigurumi as stuffing for your plushie. I would recommend still wrapping some fiber fill stuffing around it (so all your scrap yarn is in the very middle) before you stuff it inside your plush. This will help make sure that as time goes on, your scrap yarn doesn't accidentally come poking through the stitches of your plush.🧶 But using scrap yarn as some of your stuffing can definitely be a nice way to use less fiber fill and save some money. I hope this helps 💖

How do you make the eyes?

Hello! For the eyes, I buy a small sheet of black felt at my local craft store. It’s pretty cheap, about a dollar or less. Then I cut out two small circles for the eyes (I use a coin as a stencil so both circles are the same size). Then I glue the felt circles in place using a hot glue gun! You can also use fabric glue if you’d like, but I find that hot glue works really well for me. Thanks again for supporting my channel! 🥰

Hello🌸 You do not need a stitch marker, however I do recommend using something to keep track of the last stitch of your row so you can keep an accurate count and know where your row ends. You can use a scrap piece of yarn instead and just slip it under the last stitch of your row. I do recommend getting a yarn/tapestry needle though! You’ll need that to see the pieces of your frog together 🐸💖 I don’t think you can make the frog without the needle.

Hello! I got the sweet snuggles yarn from Michaels craft store. I think it can only be found there.🥺 However, there is a website called “yarnsub” where you can search for a yarn like sweet snuggles and it will recommend similar yarns! I’d recommend using that website to see if you can find some yarn brands that are available near you! Thank you so much for supporting my channel🥰

Hello! Thanks for watching my video! I used felt fabric like you said! To get the perfect circle, I took a coin and traced it using a pen to create a circle stencil. Then I cut out the circle and placed it over the felt and cut around it. I was left with a perfect circle! Hello! Thank you so much for watching the video!💖 The best way to make the frog bigger is to use a larger sized hook and a thicker yarn. You can use the same exact pattern/tutorial if you increase your hook and yarn sizes, and you will end up with a larger frog! Hello! For the largest frog, I used Sweet Snuggles yarn by Loops and Threads in the color mint (with a 9mm crochet hook). For the medium sized frog, I used Bernat Baby Blanket yarn in the color lemon lime (with an 8mm crochet hook). And for the smaller velvety frog I used Baby Bee Adore-a-Ball yarn in the color mint charm (with a 5mm crochet hook). I hope this helps!🐸💖

Hello! Thank you so much for watching the video! I used black felt for the eyes and cut them into small circles. Then I used hot glue to glue them onto the frogs. You can also use fabric glue instead. For the mouth, I used black embroidery thread for the smaller frog and black cotton yarn for the larger frog. I have a more formal tutorial where I make show you how to make a frog and it walks through the steps of sewing on the mouth! I hope this helps!
