Hey Jeff! I didn't get the chance to talk to you that day but that was actually my first crit. I didn't even know what a crit was 2 months ago when I bought a gravel bike. I stumbled on your videos and gave it a shot. Hit my goals so I was happy. I bought a road bike now and am going to start training more seriously. Just wanted to say thanks for everything you do. That was me clapping on the finish line at the end, also i was yelling out time splits for chris haha

Reaney is awesome, but he probably shouldn’t have been allowed to influence a 35-39 district championship race. Kinda weird of Velopromo to make it a 35+ race and just pull out the 35-39 finishers.

Another thought about Steve sprinting out of that corner: he is not going smooth and consistent with the power while doing that. As you say, slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Though it’s difficult with so many technical corners to chase Chris, Steve was sprinting a lot through those hard corners to soften everyone up. But he’s also softening himself up, too. Great racing, guys! Looks like a combination of skill, strategy, and luck played perfectly in your favor! Always great to see you guys stomp out there

I'm from the UK and currently living in Ireland. One thing that I cant get my head around with US crits is how you manage to close a road on what is effectively is a suburban street. Do the residents not have something to say? We would never be able to race like this in the UK/Ireland due to residents not allowing it?
@JesseDishner
@JesseDishner Год назад
There are usually ways to get out of the neighborhood from other streets that aren't closed off. They also give plenty of notice and people park outside of the closed off area before. Its usually only closed for the morning or day of the race. As for motivation, the police department can just put up no parking signs anywhere they want and if you don't move your car its a $50 or more ticket.
@petersouthernboy6327
@petersouthernboy6327 2 месяца назад
We close blocks of streets all the time for parties in the US. All it takes is a permit and the police are happy to help reroute traffic and put up barriers.

Had to put down 500+ watts super early to move up because of a bad start - dude you gotta practice your clip-ins, else we'll have to get you into SPDs, mash your foot down and go.

It's amazing how quickly that race was over. Within the first few laps he was gone and it was a race for second. Great job on the 1,2 finish. And no, it wasn't about your power, it was about knowing just when to attack (just before the last corner) and carrying that speed to the line.

35+ is not the old guys. The fact that you, and many (most) other 35+ riders are still competitive in their senior categories is evidence that they haven't really started their inevitable downward slide. Come back in 20 years and then we can talk.

@NorCalCycling
@NorCalCycling Год назад
i'm literally flying out to chicago so i can get beat by better racers, it's what makes you stronger , so ya i think people interested in self improvement will continue racing after not winning. remember there's only 1 winner per race, so it's a sport where you have to prepare yourself for loss, and learn from it
@blingn007
@blingn007 Год назад
@@NorCalCycling we know you race strong people that's not what I was talking about. It's when you seal club. It's kinda like what legion does since almost all of what they do is seal club.

@mbastos1000

Seriously????? You should show your preparation for the race and before it starts. Your gear and kit and your interaction (if any) with the other riders before the race (like short interview) and their gear and kit... and so on... then you would have something really interesting to show in your videos since they are really boring and a recipe for sleeping fast... I don't know how some heros watch it to the very end just to see you sucking the blood of some poor rider and sprinting to lose another race... and at the end you want to sell a coaching course????? Really??????????
