The Corsair was facing down at the race start and had to rotate before moving. The scout was already facing right. I think RT has a point about that one not counting.
Devils advocate for the quiz, it did say which of these units would reach the end of "this" horse race. Not specifically which is overall faster; imo a gotcha question but still valid for quiz rules.
Artosis is right according to liquipedia btw. The scout is only equally as fast as corsair with its speed upgrade. Without its speed upgrade it is at 5 speed, and a corsair is 6.67 speed. The only way this could be wrong is if they have drastically different acceleration, but I don't think they do. Something was wrong with that test.
@@AntiDoctor-cx2jd I'm pretty sure the Scout had the speed upgrade. Even after the acceleration period was over it was putting more distance between itself and the dragoon (normally dragoons at full speed are faster than scouts unless the scout has the upgrade). Also, scout has relatively slow acceleration itself, so I would be surprised if it was getting huge edges based on acceleration.
@@ArtosisTV lol u guys are right. Everything had upgrades (including the shuttle). You can see the Corsair facing the wrong way before the race starts, therfore the Scout won.
@invisiblemenproduction I'm furious about Corsair question being so wrong, but still this volume was pretty good. Siege tank range questions were really interesting (but not the best order, from hardest to easiest). And of course those Arto clips were cool, cause our fellow terran is angry even when he wins.
EDIT - after rewatching, yes it's clear the scout has the upgrade, and I'm pretty sure the corsairs higher speed would overcome the acceleration issue otherwise. The quiz is at minimum, faulty, and probably wrong. The corsair is much faster according to the speed stat. I believe the scout had higher acceleration which helped it win this short race, so you are indeed wrong on that one.
@@evgeniyevgeniy8352 Yeah, was suspicious the scout had the speed upgrade. Scout is really slow without the upgrade (slower than dragoon, about the same as a probe). They're the same speed as corsairs with the upgrade, but the question did specify "no upgrades".
I think with upgrades they're the same speed, but the corsair was angled downwards so yeah slower acceleration. I could be wrong about this but that's what it looked like.
Just mathing 'cause I'm a nerd - 1 valk rocket = 6 explosive dmg - carrier armor = 4 - 1 valk firing 8 volleys per instance at a carrier = (6-4) damage * 8 = 16 total (could vary depending on where rockets hit) - 50 valks firing in one instance = 50 * 16 = 800 explosive splash damage in one instance, could vary yup, there's simply no way for the carriers to win there
That's not correct. Without its speed upgrade the scout has 5 speed, and a corsair has 6.67 speed. The reason the scout won is the faster acceleration as AntiDoctor pointed out above me
Ok. So according to Liquipedia, how long does it take for said units to reach max speed? And at what point in time does the other begin to overtake the other?
@@caelestigladii Acceleration isn't listed, but I wouldn't expect it to make much different. I've A-moved a random mix of protoss scouts/carriers/corsairs and almost immediately the group of corsairs is out ahead, and the carriers lag behind
I would say the protoss units from top to bottom where: arbiter, shuttle, scout, observer, probe, corsair, carrier, zealot, reaver, high templar, dragoon, dark templar, dark archon, archon. No way unupgraded zealot is that fast, so it was definitely rigged.
According to Liquipedia a corsair has a speed of 4.963, while an unupgraded scout has a speed of 3.720 (75% of the corsair) and even with its speed upgrade it has the same speed as the corsair. It shouldn't beat the scout in that race.
@@AntiDoctor-cx2jdIt doesn’t matter, scout top speed that high is clearly upgraded. You clearly never used scout without speed before, that sh|t is slow.
@@AntiDoctor-cx2jd Valid point, but that would just mean the "drag race" was too short and the corsair would eventually catch up and win, but with the length of the race in the actual Starcraft engine not being clearly represented in this .png race, I'll have to, with my authority as a vice-chairman of the scrublord club, render the quiz question itself still invalid.
lol if I'm taking an L, you gotta too. I still can't believe scouts had that kind of giddy-up pre-upgrade! UNDER USED UNIT, I'mma find a place for it other than chat FFA.
Man 50 valkirias to kills 25 carriers, and in real life toss bring 2 storms and its over, Also they only shoot air protos will have ground army as well, imba for terran.
I don't understand objections against siege tanks range. It shoots shells, so it must be able to launch it anywhere, even from one spawn to cross spawn. Needles are hard to throw and plasma balls hard to hold, that's why zergs and protoss inferior to terran.
These were piss easy. The most I liked were map ones - he should've used old KeSPA days maps like Blue Storm a lot more, 99% playerbase knows what FS looks like lol.
Just spitballing but I'm guessing under BW's engine, the erratic and quick movement of interceptors evades the valk's missile as it doesn't home in well, and doesn't do direct damage but splashes around the target.
4:40 -- last time I *ACTIVELY* played Brood War was *more than 5 (FIVE) years ago* , and yet, it was OBVIOUS to me that this goon was *CLEARLY* _WITHIN_ the tank's range... !! -_- Really, arty ?? xD .
Corsair speed 4.963 Scout speed without upgrades 3.7 Scout speed with graviton Thrusters speed 4.963 The test was rigged not by just having the upgrade for the scout…
The one you don't want to count where you won cuz the dude left was very obviously poor winner artosis not poor loser artosis. You are toxic af win or lose.
