About a year ago I started watching natural hair tutorial videos for self edification (I’m white). It doesn’t matter how many decades I’ve had black and brown friends, I’ve never known anything about their hair care regimen, but now I find myself just that much more jealous of how beautiful the styles are. I could style my hair and by the time I leave the house 5 min later it’ll look like I haven’t done crap to it. Love your videos Jess. Have you checked out Viv hair therapy?

TFS! 👏👍Whenever I've done a straw set I never pulled them apart. The way I rolled mine they looked more like locks than spiral curls. Style easily lasted almost 2 weeks due to the extreme tightness of the curls. It would be flat at 1st then get bigger and slightly looser as time went on. This style is great during hot, humid weather as the curls are too tight to move much. VERY time consuming to do but worth it for the results you get.

I did straw curls on my clients alot back in beauty school and I loved it, you can also use rolled up foil because the foil conducts heat under the hood dryer so the hair dries much faster.
