Hey Jess! There's a channel here called FakeGamerGirl, and she has a series where she recreates sims and houses from the Sims 2 in the Sims 4, if you're interested in that. Also, I feel like you and her have kind of the same energy ;) Love you!
My apartment has a swimmer pattern on the wall above the kitchen counters. The tiny swimmers even have colorful swimming caps. My roommate said when we were looking at this apartment she thought they were birds in the sky 😂
I watched a video about the genius of Sims music and it honestly made me sad because we don't really have THE music anymore. I always play on muted. The old music isn't just nostalgic, it's actually, truly, so good
Not sure if you’re aware but the Sims 2 soundtrack is on Spotify 👀 I still play TS2 on the regular so I hear it a lot, but I legitimately listen to it when I’m cleaning the house and stuff
@@izzykate1806 i fall asleep to the old sims music all the time and it’s completely messed up my spotify wrapped but tbh i think it’s hilarious af,, the music goes SO HARD
Sometimes I'll play the Sims 2 music on spotify and mute my computer while I'm in cas or building in Sims 4 lol. The vampire music in Sims 4 is top tier though, I'll give them that.
I can’t speak for the Sims 3 because I never really played it. However, I think the furniture in the first two games were very much geared towards novelty. And as the evolution of the Sims progressed, the creators realised current consumer trends dictated more realism in game play. And obviously the developments in graphic design made realism more accessible.
You can really see this when people start complaining about all the things that they want in the game (that it never had) that they insist is necessary because "this is supposed to be a life simulator." While I appreciate the realism sometimes, I rather like that they change clothes by spinning (rather than having an animation of actually removing clothes or shoes.)
@@junerussell6972 I always play with witches and just go with the spinning thing being “magic”. Same goes for the “Bust the Dust” floor sparkles and dust bunnies
Sims has always had a novelty side to it, i don't think they focus any more on realism now compared to then. The sims 2 had expansions like IKEA, H&M Fashion Stuff, Kitchen & Bath Stuff, Mansion & Garden Stuff - all of which were pretty much just regular objects which were in fashion at the time. The only pack theme that doesn't really fit is Bon Voyage i think. Sims 4 has packs like Journey to Batuu, My First Pet Stuff, Strangerville, Eco Lifestyle, Realm of Magic, Movie Night Stuff - which all fit a very specific style and really don't work well across most builds unless you're going for something specific. I think the main thing is that Sims 2 only had around 4 years (2004-2008) before Maxis dropped it so that they could work on Sims 3. Whereas it's been almost 10 years since Sims 4 launched so they've had way more time to make objects which seem more realistic. It still has ridiculous things like the oversized telescope, an entire rocket you can put in your garden (but no cars even though they drive around the neighbourhoods), the cupcake machine, and some useless wallpapers & floors (thinking Spa Day's glowing wallpaper and those gaudy golden wallpaper/floors in Get Famous)
@@junerussell6972 It's true that it doesn't need to be too realistic or anything, but i think there's valid complaints about the things that break immersion or they're just really jarring. Like TS4 had half of the content that TS1 base game had at launch. TS4 base game was missing Aliens, Babysitters, Burglars, Cars, Gardeners, Ghosts, Hot tubs, illnesses, Newspapers, Pools, Repairman, Repoman and Toddlers - which were all pretty big features for gameplay. Like I think the fact that there still aren't any cars in TS4 is a bit jarring considering you can literally see them driving by in the neighbourhoods and it means that late gameplay is kind of empty because you don't have many expensive things to buy for your sims. There's certain things that should have been staples in the series when they were in every single base game before TS4. DGMW, I never play with mods such as WickedWhims in TS4 because it goes too far with the realism, but there's a lack of gameplay in TS4 compared to every other game in the series. It's also kinda odd that TS4 has vaccuuming and washing machines but you don't need to water decorative plants or have any bug infestations like in TS1 & 2.
I was OBSESSED with that one Pleasantview house with the tower. It was GOALS and I, being like 10, was never able to achieve it because I didn't know cheats existed
The cc and/or default replacements literally change everything, you get a diferent game. Also, quartetileplacement. I could never go back to TS4, TS2 is my game ♡
I was entering a shutdown/meltdown just as this video was released. I didn't even read the title - saw plumbella clicked play. I didn't watch, just listened through it twice. It calmed me down. Thanks Jesse.
PS I have a Mac and I was able to get the Complete Collection in the App Store a couple years ago and it’s not all the packs but it works and I’ve rarely had crashes so there’s hopeeeeeee
@@nc5193 if you’re having trouble try the subreddit r/sims2help, they’re still very active and other people might have had the same issues and be able to help! I just reinstalled from the discs on a new computer and I had this weird problem where the game said I had an incompatible graphics card and and I was really worried but I found a fix for it really quickly by checking for solutions on the subreddit!
Just wanted to say, I started watching you at the start of my degree and today I just submitted my final exam. 3 years on and I still love watching you! Your videos have given me such a nice escape from stress and for that I am so grateful!
What a coincidence! I actually reinstalled the Sims 2 two days ago in a fit of nostalgia, and I'm having SO MUCH fun. It's old, yes, and you can tell, but it has so much passion put in it!! I love the townies, I love how much personality they have (in particular teen-agers!), the fact sims actually do stuff on their own, or the way they stare right at ME to complain when I tell them to do something they don't want. My heart is so full.
jessi i understand you babe im 23, played ts2 my whole life non stop and i can build a proper house without crying in this game just now after all those years
I'm still playing Sims 2 for the builds. I get bored with my families, but man, the builds. My latest craze is creating gentrified old buildings. It started with an old mechanic's loft that came in Belladonna Cove, but my latest is creating an old bank building and then renovating it for modern living. I wish I could upload some of my favorites, but I'm living without wifi to my PC right now.
The editing is absolutely superb babes, absolute chefs kiss, the first-person doom edit had me howling 😙👌 I'm glad that you're doing what you can to feel comfortable with recording and making sure you're looking after your mental health!
Tbh bro look up neural plasticity, ya litterally cant do anything without improving in some way. Plus say nice things no even being mean to yourself as a joke, found out recently you'll legit just believe it if you say it enough. Its wild stuff. Brains are crazy ♡ good luck out there.
The Sims 2 is my favorite, purely because of the families. I grew so attached to them as a child and the nostalgia from playing as an adult is unmatchable.
That bed with the weird headboard arch was my favourite when I was a kid. Sometimes I’d make my couples sleep in seperate beds so I could have as many of those dumb arch beds as possible. Awful taste. We love it.
I waited 2 whole years to watch the last season of Adventure Time because I was in denial that it was over 🥲 just kept watching seasons 1-9 over and over
I think we can all agree that Sims 4 build mode is the easiest to work with. When I played Sims 2 I feel like RU-vid was not really as popular but if it was I would have probably learned how to be a decent builder but I was not haha
Recently found your channel and I absolutely adore you! Thanks for sharing your beautiful self with the world. Your videos feel so down to Earth and real.
I get soooo much nostalgia from the family fun stuff pack! All the link castle themed furniture was my dream as a child 😂. Great video. How about an "I recreated my favourite sims 4 build... in the sims 2" video? You have made some super complicated builds and it might be a fun challenge to remake them in the older sims games 😊
I would love to see you try to build a sims 2 house using some of the advanced custom build tools developed by the community, like using Mootilda's grid adjuster and lot adjuster to make no-slope basements, 1- or 2-click foundations, or faux rowhouses. It's something I'm just now getting into as I try to improve my building skills, and although it's a little intimidating at first to use a custom program like these, with a tiny bit of trial and error it's not as hard as it seems and it can really open up the kinds of houses it's possible to build in TS2.
Back in the day on windows there used to be a mouse setting for left handed users. Not sure if it still exists but it was under the mouse properties. 🤷🏽♀️
If they had just remastered this game with the updated build tools and usability of Sims 4, it would have been a thing of total joy. Closed worlds = not even an issue, hen.
2:07 i cant tell you how many series ive started and never watched the last episode of because i hate when things end. i also avoid movies because i dont like watching endings
For a video idea, what about builds inspired by the themes of a pack? Like not exclusively using the items in a pack, just the vibe or idea of it? Like building a launderette for laundry day, a day care for toddler stuff, outdoor cinema for movie hangout, ice cream parlour for cool kitchen, etc? Just different types of lots bc I am sick of seeing bars and museums everywhere.
2:10 All the time! When I watched Schitt's Creek, I waited until all of the last season was out before watching it and just rewatched earlier episodes again and again because I didn't want the show to end!
I went to bed watching your Sims 2 letsplay hoping for more, and I wake up to this, continue spoiling us with this masterpiece of a game please and thank you
build idea!!! you put everything you need to build a house on a wheel then spin to get an item. however many items are on your list is how many of that item you need to place (ex. if it lands on bed and there are 10 items on your list you need to put 10 beds) then spin again and do 9 of that item!!
I'm bad at unlearning so this is the amount of frustration I still feel when building in 3 and 4 (and I haven't played 2 since like 2013). I don't like the pulling and pushing. And YESS, the roofs!
I forgot Family Fun Stuff!! Wow what a throw back. I used to do my entire house with the castle furniture lol - would love to see you try this in og Sims! That’s a true nightmare lol
This truly is a mutual parasocial relationship because the burst of seratonin I get when you upload is unparalleled 😭💕 I was never even that interested in the Sims before I started watching you, you're just genuinely such an amazing creator and you bring so much comfort in my life and I'll stop rambling but we appreciate you so much hen 💕
(And by not interested I mean the Sims always seemed too expensive to me as a kid so I just watched my cousins play and now that you're dragging me into it as an adult I guess it's time to sell my soul to EA xx Worth it 💕)
I'm someone that still plays the Sims 2 daily - literally, not an exaggeration. I'm roughly in the 8th generation, started playing with one sim and continued with every single child, jumping between over a hundred households in a rotation I've come up with. I'm actually about to start my 4th neighborhood I have to add because the other one's are running out of space, so I build A LOT! And I'd like to think, I'm not half bad So this is so fun for me to watch Love you
I pretty much only play the sims 2, so I always like when people post about it! But I am so happy that you actually try and don't just complain all the time :') So many don't even try to look through the menu and the cheats. Also, after all these years I have never gone near the constrainelevation cheat, so props to you!!! (Also, the roof angle adjuster came with Mansion & Garden, aka the last stuff pack, so it makes sense that you didn't know about it!)
I am currently stuck in an Australian Covid lockdown, been down for 3 weeks. This is the first video of yours I have watched and you made me genuinely laugh. Cheers babes.
Holy shit I do that thing where you put it off because you're afraid to see it end too!! Thank you!! I feel so validated right now; omg. I do it with video games mostly, and will start the game but refuse to finish it for months and months on end. If it's a series, I won't finish the last installment. Wow, I'm so excited to hear that other people do that too!
