Today I’m sharing what I’ve been using to wash my hair for the past 6 weeks and a new technique I’ve been trying - double cleansing your SCALP! I have an extremely oily scalp and hair that is prone to be limp and lifeless as a result so I’m really excited to share my new shower routine with you guys and talk about my results. Whether you’re trying to train your hair to go longer between washes, you’re dealing with an itchy or irritated scalp or you just love a good clarifying shampoo to cut through all your dry shampoo build-up, this video is for you! I use one of those scalp massaging brushes with the silicone “bristles” it helps cleanse the scalp so well and calmed dryness and itchiness was for me. I have curly hair so limit washing to once or twice a week unless I am doing heavy exercise and need to wash more frequently. Never tried these products but wanted to share the brush tip. You’ll also use less product ;) I suppose you can use it with the pre-cleanse product you showed on dry hair or on your second shampoo as it would likely slip better and help it lather/spread.

gemma ambrose gemma ambrose my routine is deva curl no poo original (the regular one). Takes some getting used to a non-foaming shampoo but it still cleanse the styling product residue and my scalp just fine. I follow with their One Condition. I like the ingredients for and it’s made an improvement to my overall hair health (I do colour my roots about once a month due to greys so I need to ensure I don’t strip my hair anymore than needed). I tried the lite version and it’s got some suds/foaming to it so I reserved it as a more clarifying shampoo if needed. But I don’t know if I’d really repurchase that. I do use the styling products from deva curl also (also mixed chicks morning after styling foam/mousse). My hairdresser is a deva stylist so she also uses the same products when I see her. So consistency with my routine. I try to buy the jumbo litre sizes on sale (during Sephora VIB) or the kits that come with the S+C and free styling product - I need to restock much less and save money. Those bottles last many months. I can’t order from the brand website anymore because I live in Canada and the shipping and duties from US via fedex are ridiculous! But if I was in US I would as they usually have good deals. For drug store brands I used to use the L’Oréal ever-line as they are sulfate free too. I’d like to try the Maui brand I think it’s called or even Shea Moisture brand but haven’t yet probably because I never run out of the deva curl litre sizes lol. So maybe I’ll pick them up if I see them on sale to try. Hope this helps. Oh and the bumble and bumble was just way too expensive but I did like their curl foam for a while I just can’t justify that spending that coin anymore lol If you have a wash or style products you like let me know!

I bought the pink charcoal scalp cleanser and it’s so thick and hard to apply to the scalp. It should’ve been a bit more liquidy.

which dry shampoo do you use regularly? I was my hair every 2-3 days cuz it’s so oily so idk how you can do it once a week!!

My go to is Batiste Original since it’s so affordable & accessible! I also really like the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day dry shampoo, the Amika Perk Up is also really nice, it’s a bit lighter than those 2 but still very effective. And Lush No Drought is also great if you’re looking for something that isn’t in an aerosol can. Amika + Lush are the best smelling so that’s nice too haha

I would recommend seeing a dermatologist. It is hard to recommend products when people are not professionals or cannot see your skin in person.

The dry shampoo will cause scalp irritation!! Some dry shampoos cause sores on my scalp, some just make it itchy and irritated. I’ve been “double cleansing” my whole life (just with regular shampoo always wash twice)I also always wash for 2-5 minutes of massaging my scalp, like the stylist would at the salon! I use the living proof style primer at my roots and can get 3 good days, 2 of which are without dry shampoo which is bananas for me in the pre primer days. I have sworn by treating my scalp like my face. You wouldn’t say your face was clean after 10 seconds of putting soap on it. You’ve got to keep that cleanser on your face for at least a minute even if cleansing with just your hands and massaging softly. Take the time so your hair will last longer. I also always swear by blow drying COMPLETELY after you wash if you don’t wash so often. Give yourself a good blowout if you only dry a few times a week! I’ve been bleaching and processing my hair color wise for 20+ years and my hair is still super long, thick, and healthy as long as I take the time on it. I always say wash twice, massage your scalp, and take your time as my hair “secret.”

I agree with everything you shared. I hadnt read this and shared about that I always shampoo twice and do a gentle scrub and leave on for at least a minute. I have drier scalp and hair and use nice shampoos conditioners and products after.

I’ve been using dry shampoo for almost 12 years and this is the first time I’ve had any issues thankfully! I practice most of the techniques you’ve mentioned, I always let my shampoo sit and massage it in for a couple minutes, and I usually shave my underarms quickly while my shampoo is on to add some extra time lol I also recently got a silicone scalp cleansing brush for in the shower which is really nice! I’ll have to check out the Living Proof primer, is it the Perfect Hair Day one?
