The year is 2064; duolingo has long since executed their plan for world domination, all citizens are mandated to complete 3 duolingo checkpoints per day or they shall suffer a fate worse than death by the owl himself. Never speak against the owl, NEVER.
It all started when 'that' happened... We were all too caught up when the 7th dimension tried to forcefully break into our realm and assimilate our resources that we forgot about duo's existence. Using the 57th app, duolingo fate, advanced artificial intelligence, they managed to predict this 6 years ago and had long ago set a plan for world domination! At first they showed a bit of their abilities that they stated were the 'best they could utter' by using advanced firearms from the 19th app, duolingo A.F (advanced firearms). We were astounded and began to rally alongside them to chase the intruders out. We learned complex theories using apple diagrams and simple illustrations. By time, we managed to chase them out... unfortunately... some of the major bases containing firearms and world leaders 'couldn't be protected' according to them... Little by little, they changed our education system, our currency, our politics, and even all forces that handled firearms or advanced combat were disbanded for the sake of 'world peace'. All military personnel retired and the duolingo's employees began to take over. I hope that -----------(ripped page) 10 years passed. The divine owl has descended! All hail the glorious king! The ruler of the world!

Alot of people recommended mimo but I recommend sololearn it's an app and it has way more languages than mimo (last time I checked it only had web development languages) I used this to learn my first language which is java than I used this too to learn c# it also has c++ ,I recommend it for starters
I thought they would teach you math as a language. Like show you the meaning of all the weird and obscure symbols there is. I thought it was interesting. Turns out it’s just arithmetic…
That's actually a good point -- I clicked on the "Adults" option when I loaded up the app, so maybe if you select "For Kids" it'll be more like normal Duolingo?
That was exactly I was thinking: I thought the app contains set theory, topology, abstract algebra, and analysis, which are full of weird notations, such as... "Q. Translate the definition of limit (epsilon-delta argument) into mathematical notation."
For most intermediate to advanced level math you just go to Khan Academy (which is free & non-profit). They also have a very polished interface for the problems but it's less focused on gamifying things and more focused on accurately displaying graphs and tables and it's a really down-to-earth approach to education. But I do think Duo Lingo Math would be useful for younger kids or people who want to lay a foundation (in case it is missing) because the early stages of math, what we call the "basics", are really tough to get when you're just starting out because at that point you do not yet have the mathematical way of thinking developed, and proper visualization is really helpful. Additionally I think it's good that duo moves away from displaying everything like just numbers. Math is a way of modelling real world problems and it would be better for people to be taught to think of numbers as representations of something real rather than think of them as hollow meaningless numbers that can be mechanically operated upon without any significance. Learning algebraic rules and geometric formulas does not mean you are good at math, at least not in the real world.
what you say about math is true for every language, even if you know all the rules and grammar and what not it doesn't mean you can speak the language and communicate properly with others (which is more important)
Listen... it isn't possible. 😔 Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with a French allergy. Even a slight exposure to French-ness is a lethal dose. 🤧 I'm looking into getting an epi-pen filled with British scones to hopefully fight the French and save my life. 🙏✨

I once had a dream that there was a new duolingo update and when I opened it apparently Duo had split into Duo Summer, Duo Autumn, Duo Winter, and Duo Spring. They all had associated personalities so like summer was really brash and confident, fall was a little reserved but earnest, winter was a chill tsundere, and spring was really happy and bouncy. And then they had respective statues made of pure gold so I had to go to the gold mines to get it for them Weird dream, not really related to the video. Anyways,

that would act be cool, maybe it was on regular duolingo and you could learn words based on season, like duo summer would be ice cream, water, swim, or duo winter like snow, winter, cold, would be cool
I hope they eventually add more complex problems for people that do more advanced math, I think they just limited it to the basics so they can see what the response is first. It's funny tho, as I was wondering if they'd ever make something like this a few months ago and here we are (kinda). What I *really* would love to see is "Duolingo Drive" where you can learn for your driver's licence (and then you can select a country depending on the rules), as big course books are just a pain to study from. The original Duolingo system is great and I hope they'll expand more!
In Japanese Chinese and Korean, “Fractions” are “分數(bunsuu, fan1 sou3, bunsu)”, literally “divide a given number” but in Korean it also has the sense that refers to “a person’s social status or their place” as in “know your place!”. Sure enough Duolingo makes sure we know our place
I tried it and it gave me questions about feet, yards etc, but I'm European, so I didn't know what those meant, so than I got those wrong and now Duo has locked me in a dungeon.
I'm a mathematician and I wouldn't be sure how to evaluate an expression like 25 ÷ 2 ÷ 2, because no mathematician would write something like that! If there's a chance of ambiguity, we use parentheses or write it as a fraction. I also wouldn't know what to do with some of those block diagram puzzles.
I was literally just thinking about how I learned English as a second language simultaneously with math (also in English), and now that I’m learning German I cannot express mathematical conventions like “3 times 3 is 9” or “100/3 is a non-terminating repeating rational fraction” in German, so I was really excited to see that there’s apparently now Duolingo for mathematical language learning, but I guess not lol.
LOL OF COURSE THEY DID 😭 I love how the same idea keeps getting recycled on all of these education apps... when will they learn that math is simply impossible to teach any differently than it was taught hundreds of years ago! 😭
A lot of those exercises are part of my brain training app as they have always been a part of them. Duo Math is still not available for Android so I cannot compare, but I guess there isn't that much scope for creative teaching in such a limited and rigid topics of logic.
aaa I want to learn American Sign Language, too! I've been watching a lot of Sign Duo and I feel like I've picked up some signs, but I haven't gotten into properly studying, yet.

I found it EXTREMELY silly that Duolingo, instead of trying to teach the LANGUAGE of math (Algebra, Calculus, anything where we interpret what symbols are trying to convey) like Brilliant does. They instead just try to make you a calculator. One would expect a company full of language experts would be interested in showcasing how math IS truly a language But I guess not lol
This challenge gives me serious St Math vibes. The only way this is better is the fact it gives you instructions. Congrats duolingo for making *another* game that people will hate. Good marketing strategy 👌
they also have music but makes no sense to me, and it’s “arithmetic” or for short, math, because most US americans can only handle one… but that’s ok lol it’s better than nothing(: and I’m not gifted at maths either so no worries and you did good too, about as well as I do :p and you’re fun and funny so you’re making it fun (it’s not normally) :p and I’ve never gotten yards and inches ones so it’s gotta be country-based and most countries use km & kg :p
2 and 2/5 as an improper fraction? Easy, Always multiply the whole number (the number on the left) to the denominator (number in the bottom of the fraction) then add the numerator (the number above the denominator), That is the way to turn mixed numbers to improper fractions, it is in 5:00
That is not very agile. In software development there is something called minimal viable product. Once you have that you can release it. They can then test it with users. Users bring in money and then they can expand the app. They did the same with Duolingo for languages it used to be far smaller when they just started.
I really wouldn't use the app, I imagine it would be good for small children, or just for a challenge, I really don't know exactly, I confess that in some things I didn't understand because a lot of the measurements you used in the app I don't use (I I am Brazilian) I think that a dedicated application for this would not be what I would use or invest in this type of application OBS: Still, I thought it was cool to have the Speed Round

Now i suck at high school math, i can’t do that BUT this is elementary school math, which i have proven to be great at. My only weakness is words apparently, i had to do an elementary level math test and every time i made a mistake it was because i misread or misunderstood what they were asking for. I did the calculations right But since this doesn’t have many words, that means i am UNSTOPPABLE

5:17 Numbers are just a tool of representation of reality. They are not the only way of representation. Geometrical shapes are in fact a more extract way to do that. THIS IS MATH TOO! MATH IS NOT ONLY NUMBERS That's why people says math isn't useful in real live. They can't think without numbers
