I respect the hell out of Natsuki for trying to speak English on camera as much as he does, despite knowing it's incredibly broken and a million+ people are going to see it. That takes guts.
Especially when you remember that he's japanese. Japanese people are usually pretty shy, particularly when it comes to speaking in foreign languages. He is a national treasure.
Chris: "I have a...thing with statues" Ah yes, like every British person who watched the doctor who episode of weeping angels as a young child/teen, statues are horrible.
love how Joey tries to be respectful and corrects Natsukis English while his best friend is just like "did i fucking finally hear you say a complete sentence for once"
This trio is just an amazing combination. Natsuki, obviously, the treasure. Joey, upbeat, always laughing, always fun. And Chris, the hilariously sarcastic ball of snappy quips. More of the three of you, please
13:58 The scream was the last they heard of Natsuki, and even after hours of searching they couldn't find him, only his flashlight. It was early morning when they finally gave up and decided to leave towards the city, to fill out a missing persons report. They let their tired eyes wander over the rows upon rows of statues one last time, never once noticing the new statue that had appeared at the edge of the forest, bearing an uncanny resemblance to their missing friend.
She have a dental face! Gonna miss Natsuki but this next episode is going to be a fun one. Still can believe we actually managed to get out of “that place...” lol 😉
You brought natsuki half way across Japan to see an abandoned love hotel, an abandoned field of scary statues and to eat some larvae. That’s a proper mate 😂
@@kj6221 ah yes, stolen. Because everyone knows it's impossible for more than one person to ever have the same thought. You've exposed my crimes. Who needs Shelock Holmes when K J is on the case?
Natsuki gives me the motivation to learn Japanese Speaking a language your not familiar with is already a daunting challenge Speaking it wicked freely knowing over 1m people will watch worldwide is a whole different beast mad respect
I don't know why people torture themselves like this LMFAO :D I can understand the fried grasshoppers and scorpi-yaki (my word for grilled scorpion kebab) but not this!! in 1000 lifetimes!! No way in possible hell!
@@muls9571 He should learn German, because the German word for refrigerator is Kühltruhe, which would be translated literally to cold box (or cooling box)
@@onepotatotwopotato8920 Hm. Personally I find children and babies creepy, even more so as lifeless statues. But I can absolutely do with least creepy here, in comparison. Just cute... that's too much. xD
Nasuki's personality personality and Chris's dry british humor just goes so well together. Joey seems like the responsible one taking care of a kid with ADHD and a grumpy grumpy man XD
Natsuki reminds me of my grandfather who passed away last year. He makes me really happy whenever I get to watch him on Chris’ channel. My grandfather was chubby, goofy and nice like Natsuki. I couldn’t see my grandfather before he passed away because I wasn’t in Japan at the time. Not to make this too long and emotional. I just want to thank Natsuki for his existence and we must protect Natsuki at all cost.
I spent a two days in Yamanouchi (where the monkey onsen is) when I went to Japan and it was absolutely wonderful. My brother and I went in May 2013. I remember we walked into a restaurant around 6pm one night and the owner was sleeping on a cot in the kitchen. I don't think he expected any customers as we accidentally woke him up trying to see if the restaurant was open. He was so excited that we were there and we had a really memorable dinner talking to each other in our respective broken Japanese and English. The people in that town are so kind, I highly recommend traveling there as it is such a change in pace from Tokyo or Kyoto. Anyways, thanks for coming to my TED talk. Great video!
I think part of his charm is his enthusiasm for speaking English even though he doesn't know it very well. When you try and describe things in a foreign language you come out with excellent phrases like 'spider trash'
The guys seem like snobs and have a really arrogant vibe to how they act. Natsuki seems like a good Spirit, is openminded and cool from what I can tell.
Natski quotes of today: "Everyday f***king place" "The monkeys were influenced by corona" "Bee Child" "Cold box" "Spider trash for you" "Jesus style" "He have a scarf..fashionista" "She has dental face" "Nobody monkey" "F***ing cleaner" "Not friendship"
I was literally bored out of my mind and wondering what the hell I should watch and I just typed in the first question that came to my mind... literally 'Is there bad food in Japan?' and it shot me straight to your video. Amazing!
@@ElTioPental They're called "Weeping Angels," and they're not remotely scary. They don't even hurt you. All they do is send you back in time and everyone they've done that to has lived a happy life. I'd gladly let one touch me if I actually got to be happy.
NOTIFICATION SQUAD: Come on then, who found the creepiest statue? Another exciting day on Journey Across Japan: Escape to Fuji, even if the food continues to be a let down. What'd do you reckon? Would you eat it? I think I'd rather eat "spider trash" next time,
Knowing Chris’ luck with seeing Fuji, the absence of the monkeys feels like a premonition.. About the statues. Why tho? Absolutely nightmare fuel. Joey’s Michiko was the scariest.
i love that natsuki still makes the effort to speak english as much as possible in these videos even though he probably doesn't really have to. absolute sweetheart
"Nobody monkey", "Can we should do it?", "Spider trash", "Jesus Style" "Everyday fucking place" "He has a scarf. Fashionista" "Not Friendship" "She has a dental face" Natsuki never fails to make me laugh 😂
I realized that I'm late to the party, but still wanted to let you know that it's truly refreshing to see some HONEST feedback about Japanese culture and experiences. The world did not need yet another westerner posing as a Japanese idol, shooting sunshine and rainbows out of their ass, and presenting another bland, homogenized "opinion." Thank you for having a thick skin and just generally not giving a fuck about the haters. It's nice to see someone doing this but remaining respectful. Most times I've seen hosts overcompensate with their callousness and be brazenly rude jackasses. I'm never surprised when I hear/read a Japanese native over generalize westerns' manners, or lack thereof, after being exposed to asshats like this.
There's a spectrum of people with respecting Japan. On one end you have people like Logan Paul who just did not care at all. On the other you have people who are over-respectful, to the point where they act like Japan is a perfect country. People like Chris manage to strike the balance of being respectful while also being realistic and honest, probably because they live there and aren't just a dumb tourist.
@@TheNobleAthelstane No, he was just mentioning the 2 things Natsuki said. It just so happens to sound neat when put together. It sounding similar to a real band is probably a coincidence.
Im so glad natsuki is in this trip... lol he brings so much excitement and energy. Hes not scared to use japenglish as well, which is kinda wholesome :c
I am Swiss and really thought "Huh, this looks like some places i know from near where i live". This truly is the Switzerland of Japan. Especially because in Switzerland there are no monkeys too.
Look, they’re not REALLY that terrible. I’ve tried them once, and while I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat them again, ‘hornet children’ are not as bad as everyone is making them out to be. (Old people here actually seem to like them!) 😆
@@parkchimmin7913 Not him, but they have kind of an earthy taste with a doughy texture. Kind of like eating gnocchi with mushroom maybe? I didn't dislike them at all.
@@parkchimmin7913 The ones I tried were marinated in soy sauce or something (I think they usually are), so I’m not sure what they taste like fresh out of the hive, but... I guess, slightly fishy.? Not in a bad way, just fish is the closest flavor I can think of. Oh, but the TEXTURE is quite memorable. They kind of pop when you chew them. Hehe. (A bit disturbing if you’re not used to it, maybe... 😆)
Nothing weird about Marmite. It is just yeast extract. It tastes exactly like like soy sauce. Infact, I use it instead of soy sauce when I have run out. Gives the same colour and saltiness.
"Don't blink. Don't even blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back, don't look away, and don't blink. Good luck."
@@SM-ok3sz Perhaps they speak primarily in Japanese off-camera? Perhaps he doesn't study much? Just because he is friends with an English speaker doesn't eman he will elarn English. I know Italian people and French people but I can't speak those languages.
Chris, you're an amazing inspiration! I actually just started substitute teaching not that long ago to build a better resume for the JET Program!! I'm so excited to try my luck! :D But in reference to the statues, all I see are weeping angels. Not a fan either, tbh, haha.
Your videos are brilliant. I'm going through a bad time at the moment and I stumbled across your channel and honestly your videos make me laugh so much and make me so happy. I'm learning lots about Japan at the same time so thank you :)
