Jimmy, the reason the sake bottles are so small is because they are intended to be taken as a shot, that's why they are named One Cup, because it's supposed to be drank in one cup. Would have loved to see you try the One Cup challenge 😅 Slam sake~
Dang, the Jimmy jokes started coming fast and furious, as soon as we entered the store 😂 Also, I would definitely crush that katsudon! That one looked particularly tasty...
Thank goodness you didn't go for the Ozeki One Cup. Those things are truly horrible. The only reason our family bought them when I was a kid was because they were super cheap and you ended up with a recappable glass cup that you could use as a drinking glass. Glad you enjoyed most of the items, thanks for the fun vid, Jimmy!
They also sell these salads with a ton of lean shredded pork on top. It's like 25g protein they are perfect for just a light meal with lots of protein. Personally im a big fan of the mapo tofu at convenience stores (even tho thats a Chinese dish) - add an onsen egg. Also theres a salty lychee drink that is excellent. Those are some of my goto's anyway. Can't forget onigiri tho.
Hope you'll get a chance to do a "tourist cult favorites" version next time where you try some of the konbini items that tourists/visitors/your viewers recommend! It'd be interesting to hear your take. 7-11 egg sando, Family Mart fried chicken, soba and yakisoba in the ready-to-eat section, monaco-style ice cream, etc. You'd probably be able to do a similar concept with Korean convenience stores! Comparing restaurant quality vs. convenience store vs. homemade would be pretty cool too
You're making me miss Japan so much! It's been 15 years for me since I've been there but it seems that all the snacks stayed quite affordable which is great to see!🙂
@@timmo223 ouch! that is hurt to hear...well, luckily in Malaysia here...we got tons of variety e.g. 7eleven, NU, NEWS, Family Mart etc The price is 50-70% off after 7pm for the food
I agree with you on the instant noodles part, I feel excited when I'm cooking it but after eating I realize that it wasn't that good and satisfying lmao
That Creme Puff you had, here in germany we call them "Windbeutel" they're probably supposed to be that empty. Because "Windbeutel" translated means "WindBag" which is think is kinda funny :)
Jimmy next time your at 711 in Japan you gotta try the ippudo instant noodle, and the Michelin star one (Tsuta ramen and Nakiryu tantanmen). Those are the best instand noodles I have ever had in my LIFE. If you decide to do one of your videos on just instant noodles, please check these out bro.
When I lived in Kyoto, I discovered a bentoya place where they made your bento on the spot. For example I ordered tonkatsu and they cooked it for me. They served the food in a bento box similar to the convenience store but the amount of food was double. Served on a bed of rice with sauces packed separately so you could pick what you wanted. My favorite was the tonkatsu (huge) and the unaghi. They also had the absolutely delicious mayonnaise. 💕😋🤗
You missed out on the egg sandwiches bro. Gold spagetti in spicy crab roe in the frozen section, gold hamburg steak, gold beef stew, Michelin star instant ramens, truffle potato chips and ohayo brand pudding are some of the best xD.Also strong zero to get that buzz and that suntory whiskey with the bald guy is super smooth. Family Mart chicken is goated though over the 711
You ate the pudding wrong. You're supposed to turn it over with the lid still on, and then break the vacuum tab. That way the carmel sauce is on top. You then eat the pudding while it's resting on what was the lid.
My favorite was tarako spaghetti. Tarako means fish eggs but not caviar. Though in a restaurant in Osaka, I had freshly made tarako spaghetti swimming in butter and springled with shredded nori. It was the best spaghetti dish I had ever eaten in my life and I am Italian. 😆🤗🥰
at the start i already lost it... "they sell pretty much everything you need for everyday life... Except for friends and family... That i think you can get from a vending machine" HAHAHAHAHA 🤣😂😂
i visited japan for a world scout jamboree with my girlfriend back in 2015. I wanted to try everything Japan. I remembered making the same comments regarding the UFO noodles(name). Now back in Malaysia, i would always get a few "cups" of UFO instant noodles(because right after, a company started importing UFO noodles). Can't wait to go back
This makes me want oyakodonburi now hehe… and OMG i haven’t had UFO ramen since i just graduated college!!! I remember them being pretty good… AHH i wanna go back to Japan soon… prob later this year.. Japan & Korea trip! Hahaha you always make me laugh, i wasn’t feeling well today so thanks for making it better 💜
Wow, excellent review! I wish they had things like this in the US. If they had things like this in the US, I bet it would cost at least 10-15 dollars or even more. I never knew this so thanks for sharing with everyone! The food here is truly the best bang for the buck. Oh my gosh, the funniest was the cream puff…😂😂😂I thought it would be filled with cream but it was hollow. I was so disappointed.
Love the Conbini content, Jimmy! Please cover Lawson (Ichigo sando aka Strawberry Sandwich) and Family Mart (Famichiki aka Fried Chicken) food too! The Onigiri's are no joke, I remember there was a whole refrigerated section wall full of them and their fillings are like 2-3x as much as the ones in the US and they stay fresh (Not like the cold hard rice balls in the US... lol)!
food is heavenly, but oh my god there's one thing I notice from japanese and koreans they work till late like late 10 to 11pm then drink till like 3am be home around 4am then go to work 3 hours later. they are like version 2.0 of college students who studies and work on stuff till 10pm - 11pm then go wild at night goes to morning class 1/4 awake. and in japan actualy restaurants or food places opens at 11am.
