I Tried Making Paper from Trash (start to finish process)

I found garbage on the side of the road...and turned it into beautiful paper!
It was a really fun and satisfying process! And honestly I was pretty amazed by the results!
I show each step/the full process including how to make a mould and deckle, so you too can make your very own recycled handmade paper. As always, thank you for watching and subscribing!

People are making fun of you for “making paper out of paper” but I think it’s a great way to make something out of litter! Let’s go! Cleaning the city! (I know that paper would deteriorate and decompose, so it’s not as permanent of garbage as plastic or glass would be, but still, very nice IMO!)

This is such a great use of trash, and it would be great to pair with a litter program. Kids especially would go for this -- they clean up their neighbourhood, then make something of it. Bottle bricking for the small plastic stuff that you can't turn into paper! I've made my own paper, but for wildflower seeds -- easier since it doesn't need to be as thin or free of clumps. Your enthusiasm is infectious!

I made paper a couple times as a kid with my mom. We didn't presoak the fibers, we just went straight to the blender. Good fun, great memories. Also, as a crafter, peal the back away from the project rather then the project away from the back. The way you pealed the paper curls the paper after all that work pressing it, but if you flip and peal the fabric instead then you can leave the paper nice and flat

Every time I see these things I am just reminded how fun it would be in a workshop class (triangulation with compass is another cool example). Like imagine making your own paper in primary school, it would teach so many things and make kids value it more.

I live in Australia and when I was in high school around 2005 or 2006, our special ed class got to go to the agriculture shed and make paper and sell them. This brings back so many memories for me. I remember we also used to put flowers into the paper as well and used to make different types of coloured paper.
