I feel like this game would be a niche in the cozy community because of the dark tones. I love this one though, it's very refreshing especially if you'll compare it to cozy games that are just cute but no substance. Also, the demo struggle so much on my PC so I will try it elsewhere. I don't think it's optimized yet. 4:00 hahaha I LAUGHED at that random stabbing after saving the guy 😂
I’ve been playing farming sims for forever like HM and Rune Factory. I hate that these games are all lumped together as “cozy”. It really limits people’s expectations for these games, and I find the label so childish. It makes me feel like a baby playing games to be coddled when a lot of these games do contain deeper gameplay systems and RPG elements. A “darker” farming sim shouldn’t be so unusual. Even Stardew Valley contains darker themes like suicide, pollution, corporate take-over, and dark magic. The “cozy” label is so limiting and doesn’t encapsulate why I play some of these games.
@@DeVon675 yes unalive is a better verb to use if u wanna avoid triggering someone with a trauma. :) its commonly used in tiktok cos using the "s--" word gets u banned.
This reminds me so much of Skyrim if it focused a little more on life sim such, so I'm very much looking forward to this. I don't usually play survival games since I personally prefer to focus on having only health and/or stamina to work with, but I played games like Palworld before so I think I can handle having a hunger bar to worry about as well.
Hi Josh, please can you do a video on Ylands, it’s releasing for the switch and it does have a farming element but I’d love to know more? I followed the game years ago when it was first released, it was very buggy and seems completely different to the switch release so looking for more information but there isn’t much about.
so far i like the demo and it will e coming out very soon with critter cove so either i get both or just one but witch one lol. My only thing and its the same with all games is can you turn off the music i like hearing the environment birds so on and i can tell the world sounds are super good. I like the graphics also.
Thanks for the video! I've been eyeing on this one for a while now. I really love the artstyle with gameplay with complexity but not too much. Can't wait to play this on my Steam Deck!
The bugs don't give me confidence... A loooooot of farm sims release with bugs and I'm not confident they will fix them just cause this is a demo. But, I'm hopeful. Beyond that, it always makes me suspicious when demos are really short. Makes me fear like...how much do you guys have done? It's better to release a completed demo than a buggy one 100% of the time, because anyone downloading the demo is super interested, the demo exists to seal the deal for buyers. If you give them a buggy mess, they'll lose interest not gain it! So... really not the impression I was hoping for. This made me less interested overall. But still hopeful. I love the dark tone, survival elements and story beats. But, I'm curious how deep the story goes. If they go the Skyrim route where most things are totally optional, I'm in. But, if things are less sandbox and more...forced, I don't really want that. It doesn't feel like the type of game where you will get connected to the characters very deeply, (maybe a good idea, with some unaliving like that) but, still I like these games for the characters 99% of the time. So, everything else is gonna need to be beyond stunning. If this turned the direction of say... Dont Starve, I'd be waaaaay more into it. I guess right now I'm just not sure which itch of mine this will actually scratch? I'll keep waiting for full release and see more then.
I played the demo yesterday and I’m already loving it. Can’t wait for the full release, it’s so refreshing to have some darker themes and morality choices in a game like this. I also adore the style they went for!
