Chess% is a great video/stream content idea for creators in general. It should be done more often.

The chess part was really cool. The only change I think would be good is not resetting Odyssey for every new chess game so you don't just do the first few kingdoms every time.

I think for Chess% multimoons should only count for one chess move, otherwise whoever beats madame brood first has a guaranteed win if they move their e-pawn after getting the first story moon. (Qh5, Qxf7, Qxe8 or Bb5, Bxd7, Bxe8 both capture the king on the fourth move, and there's no single move the opponent can play for their first story moon that can stop both)

ya'll should do a best of 3 chess tournament with a bunch of speedrunners to see who is the best Mario chess speedrunner

The Chess% idea has some real legs to it. I'd love to see that turned into a bracketed tournament or something. Maybe have each round start in a different kingdom?

Now I’m wondering if Amy can mod Among Us into SMO. Just redo that 8 player any% route that’s on CJ’s channel, but 2 players can kill anyone with a single cap throw, and they play on a 100% file, so they have to fake collecting moons.

Sphinx% was so evil, there were so many unnecessary roadblocks added in and I love it

Chess% was pretty cool and I kinda want to see it again. I think it'd also be pretty hype if instead of restarting the run every time you lose you simply continue from where both players are, which could make Sand Kingdom kinda hectic lol

superbowl% speedrun getting the football costume. while in the football costume you must 1- capture and defeat a chargin chuck 2- kick a football in metro kingdom 3- get both moons in the ruined kingdom moon pipe

Cacti%: Count all cacti in Sand Kingdom except for sub areas 😂

I think coin% would have been interesting as a race where your need to go faster than your opponent counteracts the incentive to walk everywhere.

Bodyguard%: Get one of your speedrunner friends to be your bodyguard (I would recommend they wear the sunshine cap and new donk city suit) You can NOT attack any enemy and can only access things to move on with the story while your bodyguard has to protect you from any sort of damage (if you take damage this run you have to start over) However the bodyguard can NOT interact with anything to move the story forward other than bosses or enemies

Idea: What about a Jeopardy race? Same as Jeopardy, but instead of trivia questions they're hint arts (or just hints). And instead of one "question" at a time, everyone picks something on the grid and then just GOES. Once a hint gets picked, it's off the grid for anyone else to take. You get only one guess for each moon. Guess right and you get points. Guess wrong and you lose points.

Hangman% and Chess% were really creative. Playing chess when the moves aren't turned based is crazy.

Fork% every NPC is a fork and every capture is a fork.

Language%. Every moon changes your language. Before each moon, guess the language the game will change into. Timing ends when you correctly guess the language.

I think the red light green light would've been much better if it just listened for input rather than Mario's movement.

What a bunch of great ideas! Whoever thought of chess% is a genius! (and you can use that idea for pretty much any 2 player game.. Or heck don't limit yourself to 2 player games! Imagine 8 people playing Monopoly where you can only roll the dice after each moon.

Pay2Win% would actually be an interesting category *if* you had multiple runners. Walking everywhere *is* boring, but if you walk everywhere, then the person who does only one shortcut jump gets the lead, which incentivizes you to do 2, then them 3, and so on until the logical conclusion is you try to do the normal speedrun as close as possible, but have to either make detours to pick up coins, or get a *lot* more economical with your movement. I wish you hadn't dismissed it as quickly as you seem to, it would be a really good one for you to invite another runner to join you, since you'd be wondering the entire time how much they are using normal movement mechanics vs conserving coins, and where they are making detours to pick them up. I do think it requires a careful balance of costs, maybe scaling with how many moons you have collected either in whole or per world, to encourage really thinking about your route and what stars you want to spend the precious early coins in each level on. Alternatively, just making each moon require an increasing number of coins to collect would also be a good interpretation of the category, it still allows full movement while requiring different pathing of the run. Plus, it's technically canon to the Mario franchise - see any Mario Party game.

The neighbors part was funnier than it has any right to be XD Sidenote: love that the chess intro ended up having cj completing his username. Shoutout to that one person who change how the whole site works to make the chess challenge possible

Public Enemy%: Beat the game saving the least amount of kingdoms possible, for example, leave Sand Kingdom in night, leave snow kingdom in a blizzard, etc

You must challenge everyone you know to Chess% Also idea: keep a save or something that is at the very start of different worlds (or just no moves until both people reach the second world). So you can start a chess% at a different world.

Fashion%: Before collecting any additional moons for a kingdom, you have to find enough purple coins and buy the kingdom’s outfit; change into it before you continue the run. run ends when you beat bowser.

Anxiety% basically every minute your controls randomize

sculk% Every sound effect Mario makes charges you a coin (excluding footsteps if you need)

Overflow% every time Mario collects a moon he gets bigger

IRS%: you have to pay 30% of every moon, regular coin, and purple coin to the IRS.

Hangman% would be fun if you had to start a new puzzle every time you finished one, and if you fail a puzzle, you have to restart the run

Controller% : every time you finish a story section of a kingdom you change how you play the game. (Example: finish cap kingdom on hand held, switch to on big screen.) "This includes all necessary story moons. And kingdom changes/progression."

Teleport%: Every time you get a moon you teleport somewhere random. You can teleport to any kingdom and anywhere in that kingdom. Once you beat the final bowser boss you win and you don’t need to complete every kingdom.

Cappy%: Any% as nornal BUT cappy can collect moons. Imagine the 2 player movement...

All captures% you just capture everything Allsheep% complete all the sheep rounding up moons Broodals% beat all broodal boss fights Genocide% kill every enemy you see or you die

Sand: Leave during night Wooden: Leave after killing the broodles Lake: Just leave without killing the broodles Metro: do a CR from the sand kingdom painting then leave Seaside: Don't kill the octopus during the boss fight then leave Snow: Leave during snowstorm Luncheon: Do the meat part and don't kill Cookatiel and then you can leave Cap and Cascade don't count because they both stay the same Ruined, Bowser, and Moon also don't count because they also don't change. Also, you know when you can leave when Uncle Amiibo and the blue toad are not there. I also have another speedrun Souvenir% Get every sourenir in every kingdom. Costumes don't count.

Now I want "Cactus%" where you find/rate every cactus in Sand

Bosstrap% Every moon has a 50% chance to teleport you to a random boss fight. When you beat the boss, it gives no moons and you will be teleported back to where you were before it started.

Challenge idea, KFC% try to speed run while eating KFC at the same time multitasking

Physics%: Beat the game performing as many clips as possible, thus breaking the laws of physics

Nut%: Get every moon in Wooded Kingdom that comes from a nut. Doesn’t have to have the word ‘nut’ in the name of the moon, just has to come from one.

Mole%: Each time you touch the ground, a dog spawns, but the dog is 2x as small. Make it so the dog can teleport too bcs why not. The dog can’t kill you btw. Also make it so the dog can grab your cappy for 5 seconds.

Classic% the run only ends during one of the following confitions:1. getting the Jump Man Suit. 2. Getting the Luigi Suit. 3. Getting the 64 Suit. 4. Getting the Metal Cap Suit. It has to be one of these.

Soup% The soup of luncheon kingdom (on top of the volcano) has spilled over the world. The floor is lava, with the lava bubbles and the salt islands. The run ends when you kill bowser because he spilled the soup. Also you need to wear a soup bowl hat

Tourist% read every brochure in every kingdom, purchase every souvenir and regional clothing

Capture% Speedrun capturing all 52 captures in the game(IF you want an extra challenge and if it's realistically possible: capture all 52 captures in order shown by the list).

Just thought of one that could be fun: 8-Ball%: Before collecting a Moon, ask an 8-Ball if you’re allowed to grab it. If negative, find a different Moon. If you get softlocked (you’re stuck with less Moons than the required amount to leave a Kingdom), you lose the run. Story Moons aren’t affected by the 8-Ball.

I think the best part of pencil% was, amid you freaking out the whole time, you actually learned how to use the medium better, like with controlling the colors bleeding and using lighter colors first.

Bankrupt%. You start from a new file and get to 9999 coins and lose them as fast as possible

New speedrun category for fir: bob % a black entity named bob floats toward you slowly and if he touches you it kills mario. He always takes the most efficient route

Extrovert%. On a new save file, talk to every single NPC as fast as possible.

Tax%: every kingdom has a coin counter in the top middle of your screen that has a coin value from 100 coins to 2500 coins, if you can’t get that many coins then you restart, after every kingdom your coins from the tax amount will disappear when you go to the next kingdom.

Shop% You need to buy every moon from the shop (if possible)

Try doing what I call capture collect% where you must have the moon collected animation while being in a capture. Only time you can bypass this rule is when you cannot further progress the game.

bug% there's a bug in one of the starting kingdoms, the run ends when you find it

Total drama% (have you seen the cartoon?) Everytime mario dies, he has to do an obstacle course. If he completes the course,he gets a marshmallow and he will continue where he left off. If you lose , he gets no marshmallow and resets the run.

Fashion percent speed run of Mario odyssey, but you cannot beat the game until you’ve unlocked every clothing and then when you go to any kingdom, you have to wear that clothing of the kingdom have fun :-)

Normal Day%, recreate your daily schedule in Mario Odyssey. Timer starts when you jump up from the sleeping animation and ends when you go to bed and it plays the sleeping animation. The Odyssey will represent your bedroom, and you can travel between kingdoms. For food, you can just pretend to eat them. You can just go onto a random pipe and somehow crouch on it without going down the pipe to represent you going to your bathroom. If streaming is in your regular schedule, start a new file and speed run odyssey until the Festival. Hope you like it!

Pixel%, find every pixel friend in every world as fast as possible(100% save file)

The problem with the watercolor bleeding is that you used too much water. The funny thing about this medium is that you don’t actually douse the brush in water, else you get a pooling of paint on your paper.

chess% was unreasonably fun to watch

Filter% every minute or so a filter from screenshot mode appears. Like one minute it's black and white, the next minute it's neon, etc.

FirsPersonalHell% get the "a treasure made from coins" moon in deep woods as fast as possible

Pokemon%: Once you capture something, you can use it again in another kingdom to help you. But if it ever dies, you have to wait till the next kingdom to be able to use it again.

My speedrun idea is simple. 8-Bit Mario (or Skeleton, you choose). From a clean save file, equip the 8-Bit Mario cap. No amiibos. Oh, and here's another: 360 Noscope. You need to get 360 stars, but you cannot touch the camera controls.

Chess% is doable with just 4 moons. Move the pawn infront of king by two, queen by as much as you can, diagonally towards king and then checkmate. The first moon and Madam Broodle multimoon.

First of all i love chess %, that was hilarious! Second a little tipp for using watercolours: use a little water to mix the paint until you get tiny bubbles, than it's not so watery and doesn't bleed so easily.

duolingo% every time you get a moon you have to answer a duolingo question, run ends when you complete the lesson.

Invisible Multimoon% The only coins you're allowed to collect are the invisible ones that appear only when mario or cappy runs over them. No collecting the same coin twice. Run ends when you buy your third shop moon
