can't believe you guys still on the rodeo, I remember starting working out like 5-6 years ago and watching your videos specifically to understand why I wasn't gaining any muscle LOL I started with 128 pounds not reached 177 pounds going on and off but always trying. Proud to be subscribe since then.... TRYING this next leg day LOL
"Come on Brodin, get me through this" 🙏 wheymen. ...also god damn, that Ken Burns Civil War-esque fiddle playing over Brandon hobbling up to the camera lmao Great video!
Awesome video! Reminds me of your OG ones from years ago. One thing that would make it better is if the camera person would focus on an overall zoomed-out shot during your reps. Zooming in and focusing on your upper body, along with moving the camera up and down with each rep not only is dizzy-making, but doesn’t let us see the entire movement so we can’t learn the proper form, which is one thing we watch for. Thank you for all you do for us!
Buff Dudes should go and train with Mike Israetel and Jared Feather. Would be a fun episode 🙂 Of course an Arnold impression show down would be a must 😁
Very very very impressive! I also admire Platz’s dedication and unique approach towards building legs (esp quads) and have incorporated his techniques. I wasn’t aware of the amount of VOLUME associated with his workout routine. Def eye opening and goes against traditional practices I’ve been using so worth a try
It's really interesting to see you go from super low volume HIT training to something super high volume like this, though i imagine you could do your whole week's worth of HIT gym time in less time than it took to do this 1 workout. Which do you prefer and why? If you don't mind answering, obviously.
Talk about a leg workout from hell. 8 x 20 for squats??! Gosh damn. I did your P1D3 leg workout today from your 12 week plan, and I’m walking around like I crapped my pants trying not to get any caca on myself. Nice job Brandon. I hope I get work myself up to that one day.
I really like that theres no ego when you train. You perform the squats with 1 plate and the hack squats without anny additional weights. And you know what? Thats absolutely fine! It gets the job done and it will make you grow. Sometimes it feels like today everythings about what weight you use. Its all ego
The hack squat variation you did is how George Hackenschmidt (who hack squats were named after) did squats. Dumbbell held behind the back, feet together, toes out, raise the heels as you come down.
Major props to you for doing this one Brandon, took MASSIVE huevos to even attempt this. Question regarding sequence though: Would it be better to alternate between quad exercises and the others? Ex, instead of going 1 Squat, 2 Hack Squat, 3 Leg Extension, 4 Lying Leg curl, 5 calf raise, would it be better to go Squat- Leg Curl- Hack Squat- Calf Raise- Leg extension? That way you give your quads a chance to rest, while you torch something else. Or would that take away from the pump?
My question is if he did mostly quads and ham curls how did he keep up with his glutes? And also as far as reps and sets what’s the ideal for someone starting without overloading?
Great workout. plaz did 2 types of hack squat. One for mass one for detailing. The ine you executed is the ine for detailing. Thus great great job and execution
Imagine walking in the gym at 6am and seeing this dude just destroying his quads at the squat rack and thinking “I’ll wait for that rack to open up” and bro just keeps on squatting the whole time you’re there.
Thank you!! My quads aren't growing and haven't gotten sore in a month. Been trying different routines and nothing is working. I'm definitely giving this a shot
@rivahkillah I do honestly. In fact, I'll even ask random ppl to spot me or I'll cheat the last couple. I've come to the conclusion that I'm on my feet all day walking at a brisk pace for work. So my legs never really get rest
Many don’t know how to do sponsorship, but this was awesome! The VAST majority of the content was content not slinging sponsorship and the brief pitch was good and meaning because it was being EARNED by shlogging through a Tom Platz leg day. Well done buff dudes.
Man your legs is pumping like hell in front of camera. They are changing in shape and volume. And this build alot muscle. Be ready for the next days it will Hurt several days, and you'll feel hungry like hell. The best training video, really, never see this. Thank you.
@@T-Vegas He didn’t do the full squat routine. 125 pounds x 10 reps 225 pounds x 20 reps 325 pounds x 50 reps. Can’t blame him, how could anyone do that. I challenge anyone to do 125 pounds for 50 reps. Good luck. 💪
Thank you for this video. When you stiff legged to say good bye, I laughed because that’s how I’m going to be tomorrow. My trainer had me do this leg workout today 😅 I was close to puking 🤮 😂😂 I found a new appreciation for squats using the Tom Platz method. ❤❤❤
In college I had something close to this during powerlifting season. I would do six ascending sets of squat + 4 heavy work sets on the same. Then I would do five sets each of leg curl, leg extension, hip abduction, and donkey calf raises. Then I would do five sets of hex bar deadlift. Add to cap that off, 10 sets of hamstring stretches and calf raise normal sets. Sometimes I would hit 40 sets total in about an hour and a half. It's also why other lifters called me crazy. The squat workouts were so intense that I had to stretch for 10 minutes before and after them, then go on a 2-mile slow jog afterwards to keep my legs from cramping up all night.
The hardest pill that anyone has to swallow be them a bodybuilder or not is that whatever works for you may not work for somebody else. Everybody wants to believe they have the magic pill for success in anything from bodybuilding to breakdancing. You can get 100 people to train exactly the same way and you’ll get many different results so you have to find what works for you.
Been following you guys for years. Think your great and very inspiring. 3 questions... What was the duration of workout? How long was the recovery? Do you think that this kind of workout would suffice for muscle growth if you was too carry this out twice a month? 💪
How many sets total? I am not sure if I missed that part. Awesome video, BTW. I wonder if you could apply this concept to the chest? I wonder what that puml would be like?
Leg day and seated toilet time - thats where the battle begins..... Really impressive work again man, could really tell that workout session gave you the business!
Damn man I thought I was training like most crazy people but apparently it's not very common. I do around 700 to 1000 reps every day 6 days a week. Every day targeting a different area always somewhere around 40 to 50 sets a day plus 2 miles warm up jogging and sometimes an additional walk for 2 to 3 miles in the evening. Workout starts as soon as I wake up at 6 Ish at home gym (got a pretty decent setup) and then after shower I end up at the office around 11 ish, while eating my food on the way. Takes around 4 hours each day. It's pretty intense but I love it.
At five and a half minutes the young guy doing good mornings into a squat for a warm up is the first time I’ve seen someone in the background doing something that seems like a good idea… holy shit, I’m trying that.
He went in the gym at twilight and finished up and left the next day at twilight 😂. Leg day is probably the hardest least enjoyable group to work but without a doubt gives the most rewarding feeling of the bunch when you're done knowing you left half your life in there.
