The trash separation game in scandic countries is a whole other level. I was shocked to find out that Sweden has three different paper waste collections: (Normal) paper, newspaper, and cardboard. I had about 12 different trash bins in my apartment
Also in germany 🇩🇪. We have Paper, Plastic, Compost, Restmüll (everything else like the stuff out of the vacuum cleaner). Than we have Pfand bottles where you get money back and Altglas where you throw Glas bottle into Color coded containers 😂
yeah, I'm German and I thought I had seen it all. Trash separation in Sweden was 3x more intense than that. Tbf they also recycle all of it and even import some I think?
i'm finnish and it's cool to see the similarities and differences here! our old wooden cabins aren't usually nearly that decorated for example, and grass roofs aren't that common. And when the cabin has an outhouse, it usually also has a seperate sauna building! That's where we bathe when staying at cabins that have no running water.
As a scandinavian I'm thoroughly impressed by this build cuz I feel like the sims don't give you anything good or "accurate" to work with lol. But you really captured the scandi vibes!
Amen! To the description of modern scandi design. "Warm an cosy" my ass, it's houses you're too afraid to sit down in because your mere precence will make everything dirty. To think that people dare to drink red wine in them is beyond me! And yup, good luck with the water damage. Lovely builds and attention to detail. I would love a sims update for slanted ceilings because that would make it possible for more accurate nordic builds that I myself wanna do. Greetings from your swedish neighbour! Edit: And also tile stoves! That would make my day because the only other sims fireplace that I have related to is the Horse Ranch one.
Thank you so much!🥰💕 and ouff yessss! So glad you feel the same way about the "scandi" house! 🇸🇪🤝 + I would LOVE an update for slanted ceilings! That is really freaking needed
as a norwegian this is probably one of the most relatable sims videos i've ever seen on youtube dfgjhg like YEAH this game gets stupidly american at times, TELL ME ABOUT IT. i've tried to build norwegian houses for my sims and it's such a struggle. also, i love your attention to detail!!
If there’s one thing I learnt from this video, it’s that Norway is as obsessed with IKEA as Germany. I couldn’t think of one house where I’ve been to that hasn’t had that one IKEA square bookshelf thing.
THIS WARMS MY SWEDISH HEART! The standard house is SO REALISTIC. I love the touch of all the radiators and all the pant and eco-sorted trash piles HAHAHA. It's too real
Genuinamente surpresa de ver outro br aqui, mas feliz com isso 💖💖 I love Nora, honestly. She's funny and somehow still teaches about Norwegian architecture *and* recycling. It's awesome 💖🥰
I love this idea!! The differences between actual norwegian and scandi houses are baffling to me tho 😂 i also love finding the similarities between norwegian/scandinavian houses and houses in poland - the random radiators everywhere and kitchen tiles with those little flowers brought back so many memories 😅
We have light switches on the outside of bathrooms in the UK too! It’s to prevent getting water in them. If it’s not a switch on the outside then it’s a cord on the inside. Your interior design is always so beautiful!
I knew a Norwegian family that moved to North America and built a house that looked exactly like the red one on the outside, and scandi on the inside. 😂 You made the scandi one look way too inviting with the nice clutter, it really has to feel like you’re the ugly stain on the house just by being inside it. Love it❤
The skåpsäng surprisingly looks like beds from ancient China. The similarity is literally uncanny. But the rosemaling on skåpsäng is so cute and unique. I cracked seeing the bin for recycling cardboards. Wish the game has the recycle bins outside Rema1000(Or just any regulars supermarkets in Norway) which have holes shaped like lightbulbs.
Nora, you forgot the air vents! (But you're still recovering from flu. You're forgiven.) A) I love that you did this. So fun to see the 3 styles side-by-side-by side. 2) The cabin with the grass roof is darling. c) You are an absolute delight to watch. I giggled so much. 4) Two weeks ago, you hit 10k... Now you're almost at 20k. Now that's magical. ❤
hahahh thank you for forgiving me, can't believe i forgot the air vents rip. and oh my gosh thank you so much!💗 So glad you like the build vid🥹💕 +It's so crazy that i'm almost at 20k whatttt
Omg using street signs to mark the area whenyou are alt placing objects is genius!! I always struggle and guesstimate. Totally have to try that out now! I love this build so much, really cool look into different build styles for other countries.
Hiii Nora! Me again lol! You are my favorite Sims youtuber for so many reasons; 1: You’re relatable and you allow yourself to mess up. 2: Your CLUTTERING! The detail you put into your houses is CHEFS KISS! They are always so insanely fantastically detailed and beautifully executed and decorated! (side note: the Hygge poster was an incredible touch :D) 3; I love how you mix in languages and how you teach me Norwegian tidbits! I totally agree with you, the “Scandinavian” homes are NOT warm and cozy lol 4: Your STOP MOTIONS! 😮 They. Are. INCREDIBLE!! You’re always such a joy to watch and I love working with you and thank you for everything and being my biggest inspiration :D 💜💛
Hello hello💕 ohh myy goshh thank you so so much!💕🥹 Soo glad you liked the build and the video! and hahahh i'ts not a "scandinavian" home without a Hygge poster! (+ so glad you agree that “Scandi” homes are not warm and cozy hahah) I'm so glad I can be an inspiration for you, and I absolutely love working with you too!💗🥹
The floral decals on the white tile was super clever! And I’ve never heard of Rosemaling, but it’s got a very nostalgic feeling, I have an old vintage rocking chair with similar designs painted on it. I liked all the builds, but the cottage was my favorite ^^ thanks for sharing! This was a fun video.
omg Nora!!!! i am obsessed with these homes!! esp the cabin!! you captured the vibe perfectly!! that’s so impressive with the limited items we have in game!! also, i love the way you clutter!! it looks sooo realistic. it must take forever to do but it’s so worth it!! you really slayed these homes!! 💜
seeing the differences between the builds was actually super fun and interesting. also interesting how similar some things were to swiss homes hehe (the wood walls in the cabin is very similar to swiss cabins. though we don't do grass roofs hehe)
Reasons for why the king in the outhouse. In the past they used newspapers, but it would be disrespectful to use the kings image. So they put the image off the king on the wall instead.
Yay you’re back! Glad you are feeling better! Also came to say, in the US, we call the outdoor toilets “outhouses.” And there is usually a little crescent moon cut into the door of the outhouse, but I don’t know why.
Thank you so much!🥰💕 Ahhh that's what it's called! I'ts so cool that you have a crescent moon cut out on the door✨, in Norway we have a heart cut out hahah. No idea why
This was so cool. All three houses were so unique. I absolutely adored the little flower decals on the tile in the first house and I am going to start doing that.
You’ve absolutely INSPIRED ME. I started a save file and am building EVERYTHING in it (it didn’t start that way lol) I think watching your videos really helped improve my skills cause from my last Sims 4 build to now…huge improvement lol. I’m posting it on my gaming channel once I edit it!
Being from the US I’m shocked at how many things I found relatable in this video. Maybe it’s because I moved around a lot and experienced many different houses but it reminded me of my chaotic childhood 😹❤
We call the outside bathroom the outhouse. When I was young my Grandma still had one, but they were not common anymore. Like everything else they have brought them back for off the grid living. By the way love the tip in the next video with the picture and the light switch. That was cool never thought of using it that way. Thanks!
love these builds! so nice to see the comparison between a more authentic scandinavian style vs the americanized imagining. I'm the same as you with CC, I used to have a lot of it but it's just so stressful and overwhelming so I'm CC-free now, I find the objects in the game allow me enough creativity, especially with ALT and resizing objects.
i’ve always lived in the southern USA (lol) but something about that first cabin feels so familiar to me!! i think the antique-y vibe just feels so authentic and i’ve never seen someone design a home quite like it! the tiny details like the flower tiles, mismatching kitchen appliances and little door curtains all make it seem so real and lived-in!
as a scandinavian it was really nice to see three examples of our home designs, instead of the misunderstood "scandi style" version that's everywhere currently. I did enjoy your interpretation (almost parody) of the modern "scandi" home though haha
The second house's style reminds me of typical houses found in the rural area I'm from in Quebec, I just think it's funny how similar styles can be found throughout the world :)
Everything can have more than one use. A couch, that can double as a chest. A closet, put a mirror on it. A table, put a foldable plank of wood at the end and you can have a longer table for guests.
I didn't know you're from Norway, it's very nice to see some culture from there, it's so different in my country I found your videos on RU-vid recommendation and I love your builds. ❤❤ greetings from Argentina🫶
This was actually rather educational for me 😂 i recently was reading a short story where a plot point was Japanese interior design blogs and they kept mentioning Scandinavian furniture and i was imagining the log cabin type look. It was confusing tho bc they seemed like they were supposed to be modern and trendy and the cabin look (cute as it is) doesnt quite fit the bill. So now I know!
This was really fun to watch. I'm from Denmark so seeing the inside of a "normal" Norwegian home is fun. The inside is very similar to Danish homes I think. Especially the teen room having ALL IKEA furniture. The rest of the house is a mix of Ikea and grandma's old tables or cabinets. (At least that's what I'm used to in my family) The garage with bikes, pant and recycle trash is very relatable too!! 😆 Whenever I went to Sweden or Norway with my family on vacation we often stayed in houses like the first cabin, or houses that looked like the typical red one on the outside, but had more cabin vibes on the inside. 🤔 I'm on your side with the modern Scandinavian house. I don't like the look or find it cosy at all. It gives beige-home vibes, but light wood instead. To me it's sterile and dead without the personality of clutter items, hobbies or signs of being lived in. 😬🙄 You did good on these builds! I'm impressed with the grass roof, and your innovative thinking on making the rose-maling look and the skabsseng. 😊😍
Me picturing myself dragging all our bottles to the depot in the middle of our current heatwave. I'm not panting (English word for heavy breathing due to heat and physical exertion) I'm panting (Norwegian word for getting my deposits back). 😅 This is delightful.
Hi Nora! I have officially binged your entire channel in 3 days 😂 can’t wait for you to continue with building challenges, not so berry, and the legacy challenge. Thank you for the solid entertainment. Cheers from North Carolina, USA
I found u not too long ago and well I’ve been obsessed ever since, this is my first time commenting-I just love ur lil comments and accent and all ur builds are better then u think! ❤
You're such an extremely talented builder/decorator! My brain blue screens so hard when I try to even put a layout together in sims XD Also, I adore your accent, and the random sounds you make XD It's good to know I'm not the only person in the world who makes random sounds lol
The first house, the exterior screams norwegen. The interior, I feel like is more generally Scandinavian "old house in the woods". I do find it fascinating that you know people who still has a outhouse tho. At least here in Sweden, my understanding is that nost houses have a toilet inside nowadays. Even the older ones are usually upgraded. I find it fascinating to see what similarities and wgat differences there are between our nations, despite our close history ❤ As always a lovely video. Now I will continue watching the other houses 😂
4:01 First, I love the roof. Second, that looks like a prettier version of what I know of as an outhouse. I don’t think they are exactly the same, but both are outdoor toilets in tiny wooden frames.
I have never realised how weird it is that most light switches for bathrooms are on the outside!! I was laughing along only to realise that MY bathroom light switch is outside too.... By the way I feel so called out with the metal fireplace to the side of the living room. Like every house I'ver lived in has had one... Luckly we don't have the long lamp anymore tho!!
HAHAHH I had the same "bathroom light realization" a few weeks ago. It's so weird that they are on the outside of the bathrooms! hahah I also have a metal fireplace to the side of the living room! .....and we still have the long lamp ouf :(
It's so cool to see different types of architecture styles from other countries. The first cabin reminds me of old (farm?)houses in many (maybe even in all) Slavic countries - fireplaces/ovens, outhouse, a lot of wood, carved furniture, even Rosemaling (I still have little casket with one of that floral pattern) all of that. I believe this kind of houses are still pretty common in small villages
About curtains. These designers keep saying that scandinavians (especially norwegians) don't have curtains because you don't see the sun most of the time XD
