Don’t know if anyone’s already commented this, but I’m fairly certain that Superstar KO prevents you from getting 6 offensive stars. So it balances it out, if you start with two offense and one defense; you should have to pick defense. Once you get to the 2-2 split, then it’s a coin flip

A cool idea for superstar KO is instead of only being able to have a maximum of 3 players on each side of the play your able to pick offense or defensive and choose a player from which ever side you pick so you can have a 6 players on offense and 0 on defense or other way around you could have 4 defense 2 offense that would be cool
