I'm experiencing the weirdest thing with "time" myself: I've just had 7 months of instense chemotherapy treatment. I was really sick and was living day by day. Time has NEVER felt so slow, months felt like years. Now, 2 months out and feeling healthy, building up my life, time is running by faster and faster each day. Like someone hit the speed button again. The difference is truely remarkable! Probably has to do with living in the moment vs. thinking about the past & future..

This was a very interesting video i don't know if someone feels like me, but thinking about time doesn't help me staying more present because I get so fixated to that thought. A "death calendar" like yours would totally paralize me and would drain all my energies, that I would not soend anymore on studying, quality time with friends ad family and so on. I always get distracted or caught up in devices use and thinking about limited time sometimes helps me, but most of the time it doesn't. It's like I already know that I have to make the most out of my time but really thinking about it becomes a counterproductive act. P.S. I think it's worth noting that your conclusion is basically what Seneca said about life: many say it is too short, but it is long enough for the person who knows how to spend it

I remember first seeing your videos about two years ago when I was a sophomore in high school. I’m a senior now and your video does motivates me to do xc and track as a sport and your Ultramarathon/marathon video was a catalyst to my pursuit of running an ultra one day. I’m expecting to run my first marathon ever in October, but I wouldn’t be here to some extent without first coming across your amazing personality and eagerness to try new things. And for that, I thank you.

Loved the video. Im a Muay Thai fighter and I also feel like I am running every single day. I go from work to the gym and so I leave my house at 8 and come back at 21:00, which is pretty nuts when I think about it. I repeat the process almost everyday, so these 50% slower days are super key to both performance and mental health. I have the same feeling about Sundays, they feel long and slow, and sometimes I cant wait for Monday to come... but then I think again and I am like, having this free time is a blessing man, wtf? And then I try to read, meet friends, watch movies or whatever and when Monday comes around... Im ready at 100%.

some years ago my vather gave me the best advice I ever got no matter what you do, or plan, always plan twice as long for me, that helped a lot I found there's a mix between speed of "static movement" and precision of "dynamic movement". If you are able to move fast, walking from a to b, taking a shorter path, that's something to consider. But, if you want to do something that requires precision, you should take the time needed to be gentle. It also helps if you start with as much force as possible and then increase it. Walking fast from one door to the other is fine, but for opening and closing it you can try to do that with ease. Each movement where no big change of momentum is involved can be done fast, you then have time to be aware of your surroundings. Short and highly dynamic movements, with a great amount of change in momentum, should be done with care and with your awareness to the action. For me that helped to reduce the things I brake and not to feel stressed. Everyday life seems more enjoyable.

The return trip effect (not actually sure about this name but..) One you take a path one way it feels long because everything is new, the brain takes in the surroundings a lot. However on the return trip the surroundings are the same and the brain don't need to "log" the surroundings as much so the return trip feels shorter. I kinda have the same experience in your daily routine life. You wake up the same place, go to work, go to the same shop/gym/area. One day can feel long but months can fly by. When I'm travelling and everyday is full of new surroundings and expressions. The days and months can feel very fast but the memory of these times will last forever. making it feel slower? it's hard to explain

I haven't watched the video yet, but i feel like i have to get this of my chest, what got me hooked on to your chanel were the videos: The 100k run, walking 24h strait, 48h rowing challenge, those kind of stuff. Builing a routine was quite nice, especially with the '1 minute more' challenge (this even made it interactive, and felt like there was really a community being build with people supporting eachother. I think what i'm looking for is for you to start a challenge which will push you mentally as well as physically, all the while with keeping a story line in mind.
@glp7181
@glp7181 3 месяца назад
i've got a few channels which hopefully explain a bit what I mean: Beau Miles (Runs, and makes a story of anything, from a hotel marathon to a story about the most poluted river in australia, he really takes you allong what he's feeling and thinking allong the way. Jeff Pelletier (ultra marathon runner) personally i only like the training parts and the racing parts, especially the 'racing the planet' series I liked because of the stories and the sheer willpower it resebles. I'm not saying you should do any of this stuff, but I would like to see you challenge yourself, maybe by training with the millitary or just going for a hike or run or any physically challenge where you can reflect on what the mental espects are.
@glp7181

having watched the video, I've got to say I liked this video better than your latest kayaking video, the feeling I got was more like there was a story to tell, and it makes you think about the way your own life is taking shape. This is shows the thought proces, and not 'just' you trying a different sport, keep up the good work

I have the opposite perception of time. Having free time = it passes quickly. Having a lot of tasks make me feel the day was long with more "hours per day" in it. Same with "time pressure". If i have an easy task and a lot of time to do it, the whole day runs past. If i have a difficult task not enough time, then every minute counts and after completion, it feels like a longer period.

I believe that, since time doesn't really exist, and is only a measure of movement/change, the less you move yourself (both in your body and your brain cells) the longer the time appears. It's why when we are bored, or waiting for something, time seems to slow down. We live in eternal present, the future is only a projection and the past is the state of movement in our memory. Without memory we wouldn't know of the past, and without a capacity to project ourself in the future (imagination), we wouldn't be aware of the future, it's why animals live constantly in the present and are fully aware. Meditation, full consciousness, are methods to disconnect from thoughts that involve the past and the future. They connect us to the present, and they make our lives more fully enjoyable. It doesn't matter if you watch netflix, or whatever. Time will pass at the same speed since the movement of the universe is "almost" constant in comparison to our small lifespan. I suggest that by projecting less into what is to come, or into what has been, to try and be fully present and fully conscious, in the now. It takes practice to get into a point where the past and future constructs disappear in favor of what really IS and what can really be DONE NOW.
