@biglonely3999 here you go! Today I'm attempting to make my old LEGO Briggs & Stratton engine run off a vacuum!
Can I do it? Watch and find out!
If you modify this and make a video on it, tag me! I want to see if you can and how you do it!

the main issue with this engine the fact that you had the vacuum conected to both valves...

Lego vacuum engines can’t run of one valve like this. That’s why it wasn’t running. Had you kept two valves it would have ran fine

@@legoenginemechanic101 Yeah I think he chose to try it like this because he liked having the 1:2 gear ratio from crankshaft to camshaft and not having to run valvesprings. Could be wrong, but that's my guess.

So when the piston gets sucked upwards, the other valve is still sucking it upwards. Not pushing down or something, so it forces the piston to remain in the upward stroke. Am I right?
@DeppadaimDienst
@DeppadaimDienst 15 дней назад
To my understanding you need a exhaust valve, so that the vaccum can suck in air so the vaccum cleaner has something to suck on. Also i found to have the best result with vaccum engines that instead of taking those plates as valves you need to use the tires from the Speed Champions cars because of the rubber, the valve has a better seal.

with the original valve ports it would have ran better as you generally should have an exhaust valve. (or piston that has holes so the engine gets air from somewhere)

This is really cool, but as a somewhat experienced vacuum engine builder, i should tell u that a 6x6 piston is quite inefficient since a larger volume of air has to be sucked in by the vacuum then in a 4x4 piston. Also having 2 valves technically doesnt reduce efficiency but your valve design isnt the best because the valves dont let the piston go down freely enough cause of the way they are designed. Hope this helped lol
@LemonJuice_
@LemonJuice_ 15 дней назад
Try changing to a 4x4 piston first before/if ur going/not going to redesign the valves
@DeltonAdamsLEGO

Hi, Not long ago I tried using this model as a base starting point for a vacuum engine. I found that you need to have 1:1 crank to cam ratio and also an exhaust valve. Also you should use a little bit of olive oil on the cylinder walls and valve seats to lubricate and seal components.

that's a pretty cool design, I also made something similar, well similar to vacuum powering a lego engine, except mine was based on a steam locomotive piston, like where you have the valve that goes back and forth switching from one side to the other, it worked quite well, sadly it had no way to reverse the direction.
@gagepuffinbarger6939
@gagepuffinbarger6939 13 дней назад
Try making one of the valves putting in fresh atmosphere to not starve the cylinder of air, and try and counter balance the piston. You'll notice when it runs, it speeds up when the piston goes down and slows down when the piston raises

instead of using the 2 by 2 tiles as intake and exhaust valves, use a piece like Lego piece 2723 and it will work better. Also idk if this will work but Lego tires may fit on the disk thing.

To improve this alot first make sure both ports aren’t connected, you could also just do a 1:1 gear ratio from the crank to valves, lastly seal the valves off from the crank and make try to make a spring set up for the valves

Instead of the tiles try the black round technic disc thingies that nobody knows the name of that are commonly used for LVE poppet valves. And it will run better as a "2 stroke" with 1:1 gearing for the camshaft but who knows, maybe it will work as a 4 stroke (with the cams offset 90° and both intake and exaust happening every other rotation.)

usually when pp convert briggs to steam they add another lope on the cam or change the ration of the cam to 1:1 to your intake valve open when your piston go down and exhaust open when it go up , vacuum engine are reverse steam engine, so either change the ratio or the cam lope to be 180 deg so like you have to piece for one lope just turn one off them 180 deg on each lope and but you vacuum on the exhaust side
