I really can't say that because if that's the case, how did she come up with $3000. And why not take that money and apply it to where she was living. ION seems like that would have made more sense 🤷🏾♀️
@@tiggalisa I was in that position before, the company that owned the house I was living in, sold the house to another company, and the other company told me I had to move out so they could renovate the property, they gave me 30 days, which isn't enough time to find a new place to stay. She wasn't moving because she couldn't pay her rent, she was moving because she was being forced out of her house so that they could renovate it, probably to make more money off of the house in rent
They won't..I am sure all the documents are fake and none of the information was legitimate so there will be no way to trace them thats why they tell the victim to get the prepaid cards
Naive or not why would anybody want to do that to anybody that's just rude crude and just totally inappropriate and disrespectful like times change is different scams all different kind of ways and nobody's perfect you're not a computer but still just because she fell for it doesn't mean that the person actually has to take all her money that's just rude
Always look up the property information on the county tax assessor site or call the county. This is how you can prove who owns the property. It's public information. I hope she gets the help that she needs. Cold world 🌎
I just talked about this over the weekend stop having all these kids and burdening your parents. Let them live their lives in piece and actually be Grandparents….
I get it, the woman was desperate. But no reputable landlord is going to require you to pay fees in gift cards. The scammer did that because they are untraceable. Be smart and act smart people. She will never see her $3200.
Well she trusted him, your word once was all you need solid, like written on stone..The person who scammed her will get his justice due him. Karma is real.. The news lady telling us how to help her.. Thanks Ms Jones..helps on the way..
There's nothing more exciting than moving into a new place or buying a new car... to spend your last and get scammed, that's so fucked up.. always have a backup plan when it comes to finances.. nothing worse then being robbed of your hard earned money
Being poor is very expensive. This $3,000 was everything to this woman/ family. Now they will likely have to sell a lot of their things, put their stuff in storage, hire movers, go into a shelter and fall further into poverty. I want to know where are her daughters father’s, where are the babies father’s? Why are there no men to help this family out. This is what also disturbs me about this story. Where is her support system? You have 3 women trying to make a better life but it seems like they are trapped by the scammers and missing fathers.
Single mothers and consequences. This is what you get for poor decisions. Why is she 60 and trying to take care of their grown daughters and grands? They should be taking care of her but nope. Had kids out of wedlock instead. She’s prob a single mother too who knows? Where’s her husband? If she’s using all her ss for this I see a problem. Also, why were they being evicted? Multiple red flags Those kids have been born into a bad situation immediately making it harder for them to do better in their future
@@dcg590 her current home is being renovated by the new owners, according to the reporter. The family can't be in the house while it is being renovated.
They weren’t trapped by missing fathers. They chose to have babies and chose poorly. This is their own fault. Also the problem in your community, you don’t take responsibility for your own decisions. Zero accountability. Always blaming someone else.
@@rasheeda1303 nope. As usual trying not to take responsibility. Why is a 60yo woman trying to house her grown daughters and their kids? Why out of 3 woman is there not one husband? And why are they being evicted? Bad decisions everywhere
I wish they had put that sign outside the house she was looking at too. People are so dang on evil. I hope she can get some money raised to at least help her get back what she got. I got $20 to give her.
@@dcg590 so trying to help your love ones is an issue? You don't know what her daughter has gone through. Stop being judgmental. Be careful what you say out your mouth... sometimes the universe can have a funny way to humble you
Don't blame the victim. Blame the perpetrator. If it wasn't her (an older, more experienced person) who was scammed it would have been a younger, less experienced victim.
This Asian dude almost got us for a home in Bartlett. Luckily when he sent the application, we immediately noticed it was fake. We researched local rental scams and found plenty of information. Called MPD and the real owners to let them know someone's actively advertising their home on zillow for rent. I put him on 3way with the rental company and the dummy hung up. Be careful folks, do your research.
This lady has two daughters moving with her and grandkids. Her daughters should have been helping the mother find a place so she would not have gotten scammed.
She got scammed smh. Please let your elderly family know about these things. Anytime gifts cards, Zell, & PayPal are requested it’s a scam. The contract itself should have been a give away but, older people are easier to scam. So sad for her’
For everyone who has a dream of owning or at least renting a nice home & doing the right thing, there's a bunch of people who are saying"Gimme mine" without a care to the grief & misery that they cause.
Where were the 2 daughters?? No one thought it was weird someone was asking for payment on prepaid cards??? With you having a fixed income you gotta move smarter than that, I'm sorry. Also, was everyone relying on the mother's SSA to get by?? I was left with more questions than answers.
Mostly anything asking for prepaid usually is a scam.... I pray everything goes well with her and she will be blessed. God will definitely deal with that person.
60 years old and you are not smart enough to spot a scam! Gift cards? No code to enter the house via the front door and being told to enter the through the back door?? All red flags! You get my sympathy but, you will learn a valuable lesson from this scam!
I don't understand how people are still getting scammed by the same scam over all these years... You must know.. Better... This sad... His ass need to be found
I had a guy try to scam me. He posted a house on Craigslist and wanted me to send money. He said he was a missionary out of the country and once i sent the money he will give me the keys. I gave him fake money gram codes and it's astounding how he went from this proper English wriiten person to broken English speaking person with an African accent. I don't play with my money.
Herself two daughters and grandkids. No men around to guide, warn or advise. Ignorance can be costly and dangerous family. I urge everyone especially our people keep your mind sharp as much as you can for as long as you can.
I'm Praying for her and her children that they will get the help they need. This is heartbreaking, but we have to be aware of the signs. That's why I don't do business thru Cashapp, Zelle, and all these other apps. I strickly deal with an actual realtor/company. I investigate the background of the home, the company and everything before I sign any contract. U simply have to do Ur homework; in this case that didn't happen. So I'm hoping someone can help her and her children. 🙏🙏🙏💖
I’m going through the exact same thing . It’s a no win situation . Hopefully she’ll get the necessary help she needs in Memphis but I myself am homeless now because the city I’m from in the Midwest could care less about you. Good Luck 🍀👍
@@Mrswoods2u truth hurts 😢 but I didn't do it too them...smh...wake up American youth please do something with your lives....other than complaining with your hands out...no one likes the truth...I listened to my parents and retired early...enough said
@@Mr2Pair1976 good for you! As I stated before, generational wealth helped you retire early! Your name on here is funny because there is nothing HUMBLE about you! Maybe the lord will show you how being humble will change the way you think 🤔
What’s heart breaking is she’s trying to house her grown a$$ daughters with kids and no husbands. Single mother epidemic and consequences aren’t pretty. And also evicted? 3 grown adults and no one can pay the rent ? Wonder why the eviction. I’m sure they get plenty of handouts. I feel for this lady but see a lifetime of poor decision making by her and her daughters the cycle repeats. I feel for those babies.
I had a couple to come to my house, peaked into my window , and when I met her at the garage , I asked why she was on my property? She informed me that she was going to be renting my house, I told her no she wasn't, and that my house is neither for rent nor sale. She said she paid some lady on Craigslist for a listing of homes for rent. She had been scammed, I checked and sure enough , my house was on a fraudulent list, I threatened Craigslist and they blocked the scammer , at least they removed it. I felt bad for that couple and I feel bad for this lady, but she should have heard by now to never send money through gift cards and money apps.
Sad Mother.. It really is sad, what we have in over hundreds of thousands of scams committed daily.. You must research these days and trust your instinct. If it sounds too good to be true, then it is...I am going to give towards her..
This is so Sad. Please all the professional people in the United States or aboard. Purchase the home for her. I myself lost my home but I am going to be alright. It really hurts to lose so much at a elderly age.
honestly don't people watch the news and her alarm bells should have been going off like a tornado alarm when they talked about gift cards. I'm sorry for her and her family. People need to do research before blindly giving out large sums of money or pay it in a way you could at least claim it back.
JESUS.. PLEASE BLESS THIS WOMAN AND HER BABIES AND SMITE THE HAND OF THE ENEMY THAT ROBBED THIS WOMAN. I DO NOT TRUST THE MARKET PLACE PROPERTIES. BLESS HER LORD!
Sad and shameful for what that person did. And this had all the signs of a scammer, wanting $$ sent by zelle, prepaid cards and $1000/m for that house with these rising costs
She needs to hire an investigator because the money can be tracked as long as she didn't pay with cash. I don't see how it didn't seem like a scam to her.🤔
The elderly are always easy targets. A lot of them don't know about these scams. Mt mom is near jer age and fell for a few scams that were clear as day wrong to me, but she's so easy to trust strangers on the internet. I don't understand. I still to this day have to warn her. Sometimes she listens and other times she doesn't. She fell for a rental scam in Florida. Luckily it wasn't that much she lost, but I warned her beforehand and she did it anyway.
Yeah it seems like SOMETHING could be traced back to this money grubbing thief and I hope his ass are arrested IF she still has the stubs, numbers are on the stubs. Praying for her too.
Just horrible how people can be so evil !!! I feel very bad for her I hope she gets some help 🙏and a home ... I hope they find the jerk responsible And hold him accountable and make him pay back every penny back to her !!! .. Its sad that these low life scammers do this to people
I've owned, still own 12 Rental houses in West Michigan, Ottawa County..I ONLY accept for deposits, rent Cashiers checks or your personal check After I've confirmed the account is valid w/$. Plus I prove to applicants/tenants via County property records I AM THE OWNER.Always check city,County Property records when renting First. Make the person showing you the rental his ID n match it to the Government records.
NEVER TRANFER MONEY ONTO PREPAID CARD !! SORRY GOTTA DO MORE RESEARCH AT ALL TIMES !! RED FLAG RIGHT THERE !! PRAYING AND HOPE THINGS WORKOUT FOR HER. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
People as much as scams are alerted to the public why are you falling for them. I am sorry but 1st you should never deal with anyone that isn't local or you cant meet face to face and 2nd the moment they tell you to get a specific amount of money in prepaid cards it's a wrap don't have any other communication with them. Another piece of advise if they have an Indian accent and give you a normal name like Tom instead of Hussein beware because most scammers are in India.
I feel terrible for this woman, but red flags were all over this interaction from the beginning. A house listed on Facebook Marketplace??? "Owner doesn't have code" for access" so just "go through the back door"??? $2,200 "move in fee"??? Send part of the funds on "gift cards"??? Something similar happened to my Niece on Facebook. Facebook is a target rich environment for scammers. All anyone has to do is look up an address in the public records or on the property appraiser's/tax collector website in the county where the property is located. The owner's name is part of publicly accessible county records. If something sounds too good to be true: IT IS!!!!! This is a painful cautionary tale. I pray this woman & her family get things sorted out soon. Love and peace! ✌️
That was stupid how can you trust someone you don't know. These rental properties showing on Facebook is more likely all scams do your research, the whole research if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is and he didn't want to do a rental background check, people come on you have to be smarter than this.
1000 security deposit?! 2200 Prepaid cards?! No reputable business would have you sending a deposit with Zelle or prepaid cards. This is unfortunate and there were so many red flags 🚩. Kind of shocked
My prayers goes out to her and her family. I'm too is a victim of this crime. I was told I was accepted and approved for a home in Salisbury Md nd that the owners who I thought was the owners was renting me their home. I was excited because where I'm living at is high crimes and drugs and with having small grandchildren I wanted to have them and me to not live in that community any longer. So fir our safety I looked into rental properties. Found a place beautiful 3 bedroom rancher in a nice quiet elderly community. Sent them 2k for security deposit nd 1st month rent supposedly was to get my keys to move in and never got them. Long story short here we are still in this bad community but I still count it all joy and praying something will good come out of this. So to me to say to this grandmother hold on God will bless your family and justice will come.
Where's the protection for consumers? Why aren't they going after these scammers who are ruining people's lives & laughing all the way to the bank? Where's the videos about that?
Poor thing that's so sad but people have to be more aware and if it sound too good to be true it probably is. I immediately saw about 4 red flags that should have been apparent this was a scam.
