A woman figures out a Starbucks employee stole her credit card information and then confronts her at the drive thru. CBSN's Contessa Brewer has footage of the tense interaction.
@@Brakdayton Would she have been sorry if she never got caught red handed? Do you really think this is the first time she stole doing something this elaborate and just happened to get caught first time by investigation? Possible but unlikely
@@mrahman2897 it’s possible this was the first time but, you’re right, not impossible. I feel sad for all involved. Shaming the culprit nationally and now globally now makes her a victim. Let’s be kind to each other. Have a great day.
Update: The woman who’s credit card was stolen chose not to press charges on her because she felt the online shaming was enough of a punishment. She was fired from her job at Starbucks, though.
@@Screamn.Lol you clearly don’t know how it works. Of course DA does but it’s up to the victim. Victim can choose not to press charges and unless it’s heinous crimes or the victim can’t speak for themselves victims have a lot to say about charging the offender. You haven’t been a victim in a criminal case before I can tell.
@@KittenBowl1actullay screaminnis correct. Victims cannot press nor NOT press charges. The victim can FILE or not File a police report which results in the DA pressing or not pressing. In domestic abuse cases the victim MAY have no say in whether charges are filed. The Police / DA can and will file charges and then they wil Press charges upon the perp regardless if the victim begs them not too.
That initial gentle "What's wrong?" is so ridiculously infuriating. She really couldn't fathom someone would eventually catch her, to the point that her guard was completely down while staring right at the person she stole from.
Yes. Because who knows how many more customers she has done this to. And now I'm glad the lady was able to catch this villain to society before she went even further.
Not really. There is a federal law that protects them from unauthorized purchases. Credit card contracts with retailers require them to allow the credit card company to take the money back from the retailer. That makes both the retailer and the credit card company put procedures in place to protect themselves from theft such as security software and other steps that a corporation can afford but an individual cannot. Debit cards have no such protection. So when someone gets your debit card you have to do your own investigation without any help from your bank. A thief can quickly empty your bank account and the bank is not responsible for your loss nor are they obligated to help you find the thief.
This wasn't the case only. She skimmed her CC info out of the skimming device that actually reads the card information embossed on the chip. That skimming device then gets plugged with a computer and information is extracted through a program. Info like CC number, expiration, CVV can be obtain so easily.
in an interview she said she was given a description of person who used the card, here she tells the thief she is on video using the card and the thief confesses straight away, very smart
xox Kaleigh xox When did she say that cause I can't hear or find the part where she says it. I'm dying to find out cause everyone seems to think it's funny
This happens way too often in this world and most of the time does not get reported or investigated. People need to realize that this is not only a federal crime but a violation of trust. This customer who confronted the ex-Starbucks employee has to carry this burden of betrayal for the rest of her life. Her relationships with others will never be the same because of this. The only thing that the employee was sorry for was that she got caught.
you’re making way too big a deal about this, getting information stolen and confronting the person isn’t some kind of trauma to echo through all her relationships. you don’t experience any deep bond of trust with the person working the register at starbucks.
Nearly everybody becomes a victim of theft or some other small crime. It only teaches us to be more guarded, and unfortunately, less trusting - but safer. The world is a jungle and always has been. Be vigilant and keep the honest people honest, and don't make life easy for the real criminals.
@@aliensoup2420 I'd say the world is more like a sandbox. People will both try to hurt and support each other. The people you surround yourself with is what really counts.
@@daqtheduck6296 Someone who was genuinely sorry would have apologized without being confronted. She 100% would not have apologized unless she got caught. That is textbook, only sorry because she got caught.
@@abdelhak_13 yes, lol. so basically she said I’m a good kid, I play soccer, as if that’s going to make anything better, or have her not press charges. I can explain it another way if you would like.
Not defending her obviously but props for her to at least immediately admit that she did it. I feel like that shouldn't even be praised but in 99% of these videos the people who are caught red handed get defensive and deny any wrongdoing which I will never understand, especially given that they know there's irrefutable proof.
@@ericsapalo2559 dude you can tell she definitely didn't mean it. She's just trying to save her job and prevent her from potentially having charges pressed on her.
@@dumon4264 lmao what do you mean she didn’t mean it? No one takes someone’s card info by “accident” and then even further “accidentally” uses said card info at a store. She knew exactly what she was doing. She’s just scared cause she knows she’s in trouble.
Why does she act like she's being interviewed for her first babysitting job when she got caught. "I'm nineteen, I'm a good girl, I go to school and I play soccer."
When somebody feels "pinched", it seems like everybody wants to have their "cake" and "eat it too. (They want it both ways.) A lot of people aren't all that "tough" when they get scared.
Frank Paya thanks for explaining what having your cake and eating it too means, grandpa 🙄. You should maybe learn when it is and when it isn’t proper to use quotation marks, though. Lol
It has happened to me twice, once at a McDonald's drive-thru and once at an Italian restaurant. Now, I pay in cash in establishments where the server takes the credit card out of sight.
Los PlayBois De NYC please say you’re joking. She stole credit card info. How is that a mistake? It was intentional, she’s only upset becuase she got caught.
hope she learned her lesson and stopped doing this criminal behavior. hope shes doing well in life. must be tough having your worst moment on the internet forever. i actually feel bad for her. this didnt need to be uploaded to the internet. just needed to be shown to the cops. im all for justice, but this is overkill. she was 19 and did something wrong. now she has to live with this on the internet forever.
I work for fast food in drive thru I sometimes accidentally have the customers card in my hands half the time when I need change from the office or something. But I would NEVER go this far to take their CC information. I would never ever do something like what she did. She's done for.
