It's my first time playing Crusader Kings 3 on this channel in a long while, so let me know your thoughts about more CK3 content on the channel!
Landless adventurers are something I've wanted to try out since before CK3 was announced, but I was too bad at CK2 to actually try the mod that existed :P

One of the things you can do with the unlanded characters is travel to areas with special retinue, like Constantinople with varagian veterans. Or polish areas with the op horsemen, or India with the op bowman and hire them for your mercenary group. It makes for some of the strongest armies possible.

@@haruhicultist7764 mods and roleplay are essential imo. Especially stuff like RICE as well as VIET on principle and if you want a challenge Dark Ages for starters;)

@@Neko-ex1ce I personally find straight up immortality rather boring in ck3. But there are much more fun ways to do that imo. Like foremost the "Witchcraft" mod.

Crusader Kings always differenciated itself from the rest of Paradox games in that it was about the rulers themselves rather than the nations, but CK3 in particular is slowly becoming the roleplay-heavy legend simulator that the series always aspired to be.

I think the reason Forced Vassaliziation didn't work is because you are a King and they are Kings, so they can't be your vassals. Once you are an Emperor you can claim whole kingdoms. I did it with the Heroic legends and Demanding Submission.

@@Illier1 Trade Republics and Navies should have been base game as well. To be honest, there is a lot that should have been base game.

@@imaxinsertnounherex but as with every paradox game you buy a skeleton and get the rest later. On the one hand it just takes time and resources to develop a "full version" of Eu4 or Ck2 while on the other that is obviously just the way to get more money(which also doubles as resources to pay for your whole operation).

Paradox should have maintenance for unlanded armies because you can have 10k men at arms for no cost

is there not maintenance? dont u have to refill the regiments if they lose a lot of men with gold or food?

@@ixavdacity yes, you can refill MAA with gold or food (or recruit people from a castle) but you can also sit in one place for 30 years and never need more food if you want

@@Quarbit Yeah, but once you get past like 1000 men, it becomes really onerous to move more than short distances. Even though it's not "realistic" there is a soft cap on how big your army can be before you're immobile. "Provisions" could be argued to include wages, with gold only being your personal wealth.

I'd love if instead of taking culture into account for building MAA they would allow location specific events to build them up, possibly through character events or not, just as an idea to "gotta catch 'em all" before settling imho.

Love CK3, and I find videos of it lend themselves to some light roleplaying as your current ruler, including elements like playing up their traits and making sub-optimal decisions based on the kind of character they are, which you kinda accidentally did by making your ruler basically you.

Liking the ck3 videos so far:) Tho I personally enjoy a slower roleplay heavy and heavily modded playstyle, everyone plays the game differently so I wouldn't say "hey, go do that!" or something. My main problem with vanilla CK3 in regards to playing it myself is how easy it is, so I feel like as a player you have to set yourself your own challanges, tho that is obviously only relevant once you actually have "mastered" vanilla.

Everything I've seen about it looks great. I've been burned in the past, but it feels like after a big dud (Legends of the Dead), they tend to come back with something really high effort.
