So my brother moved away after being in the same town for 60 years. We watched shows and movies together several times a week. We have used this app to continue doing this together for several years. It's incredible!

Surprised you didn't show them any movies in 3D, that would have been the highlight.

I don't see how meta hasn't capitalized this. Big screen and programs like it is the actual use-case / killer app and they're blowing it.

Vr is a ton of potential, but I believe it would be a great teaching tool to simulate anything we wanted to learn.

This could be a whole youtube series. Have people try things they do in the real world in VR. Soldiers try shooters People try VR for the first time Police officer tries pistol whip or something Possibilities are endless!

I’ve increasingly started to use my quest with passthrough and a massive screen floating in my apartment, as an alternative to carrying around an iPad or phone. With the color passthrough on Quest 3 it suddenly feels like a viable option.

I love seeing their reactions. Having been at this for a few years, the novelty has worn off and it has become part of life in some ways, so seeing someone enjoying this for the first time is a treat. I started out with Bigscreen as well, and then discovered the joys of VRChat. Many hours have been spent watching movies with friends from across the globe. I also enjoy movies and series using Virtual Desktop with passthrough enabled. It makes it easy to keep up with my favourite movies and shows while performing menial tasks, such as washing the dishes and cooking a meal. The floating TV goes everywhere I need it. I suspect if you showed your guests 3D movies it would have taken the experience to another level.

Great video! Is there a guide I can find on how to set up the shared viewing? It seems like you were using a local file on one Quest 3 and sharing it with the other person in the second quest 3. Is that right? As far as the 4k files, any guidelines on file format?

Just finished watching Iron man 1, in bigsceen- on my quest 3. Straight after, I played iron man VR. This is why the q3 is the best headset out there!

Very nice demo. Would have liked to hear comparisons about quality or some re-enforcement that a person isn't missing out on a lot. I personally have an 80 inch OLED TV with a high end Dolby Atmos Surround system that I love but consistently watch movies every so often in VR because I can watch them with friends and my partner easily.

3D movies and 8k videos were missed

For many people, this is a great upgrade. However, for someone with a home theater, it still comes up pretty short. Eventually it will be there, but the resolution and PPD of my 4K TV is noticeably better and my surround system and sub woofer kills this. I'm not crapping on the Q3, I actually watch things occasionally on it, especially when traveling, and it's awesome. But if you watch with someone else in your home, it's $1000 and you could get a decent TV for that. Obviously you are not getting a Q3 just for TV, but my wife would not become a gamer even if she had one. I'm really looking forward to the day when the quality actually rivals real TVs.

Can you set up a limbo black space, so there is only the screen in front of you?

How come you didn't show them movies in your Apple Vision Pro? That is far ahead of the Quest 3 for media consumption.

So it was a little unclear, but are you saying there is a feature where if you have the same video file preloaded on 2 Quests BigScreen will let you watch together and keep it in sync? Does the video file have to be in a certain folder? Are there any good file managers on Quest for copying files around? Thanks.

Even just with the Quest 1, the effect is impressive, I just switched from my Lenovo Explorer to a Quest 1 a few weeks ago, the comfort of use is undeniably greater. I'm thinking of taking my Quest to introduce VR to my dad who is a big fan of cinema and innovations in terms of gaming without needing to take my PC with me ;) VR is for me the greatest innovation since the Wii's motion detection.

You get a better resolution, more lightweight and comfortable and Atmos-like sound, perhaps in next generation Quest (4 or 5), then, it really is doom time for local movie theaters.

3D would have wowed them even more if he had shown them.

if you also have great headphones with deep base there's no difference at all between sitting in a virtual imax and sitting in a cinema.

Thank you Meta for making VR affordable. From the first time I tried it, I knew that this technology was going to be the future. I felt like I was in the future. One thing that annoys me for now is the "VR Hair" that I get after using it. Has anyone found a solution to tackle this issue?

Its annoying that everyone I show VR to goes "Wow" but then they don't bother getting a VR headset. Its like a gimmick to them.
