Hey Tyler. That Lazerbrite system is for missions at night time where we(I am a former Cavalry Scout with the US Army) do combat patrols and shit where its dark asf, and we need to follow or identify each other with certain colors. Also we use low dim light to read maps, etc. Usually red light at night time. Green to mark vehicles on radio antennas and etc. The enemy cannot really see red light at night time that well, or low brightness lights, thats why we use chemsticks, but those Lazerbrite last longer than a chemstick.. Just letting you know bub.

The glow stick spin is an older technique I learned back in the 90s. Use smoke to mark an LZ during the day and a glow stick spun around overhead at night. So if you're in need of rescue while out hiking at night AND you get an older former military helicopter pilot, spin a red glow stick around and he'll call in a medevac for you.

That massive cleaver looking knife is for food prep, and the edge being dull is likely intentional as they're letting you choose your own angle that works best for you. Some people prefer 25-28° for food prep, while some prefer 22°, and VERY few go with 17° (razor thickness) especially with a blade like that because your edge is chipped or rolled the first time you hit a bone. But I imagine the edge is totally intentional.

@@ericwallen I don't think it is tuna specific honestly, though I am sure professional tuna fishermen would likely use something of this sort, there are many OTHER practical uses for it. The discrete survival light is a water beacon for a man over board in night. Reds are for low light situations and the tube that rotates is a signal light, it's easier to signal properly with that tube spinning compared to pushing the on/off button. One of the last things you want to carry in a bad situation is something that smells like "delicious cherries". If you can smell it in your hand then a bear can smell it from miles off. Only slightly safer than carrying bacon cheeseburgers in your pockets.

Just so you are aware, that spinning glow stick is an actual method we use in the military to mark a LZ for helicopters. It's called a "Buzz Saw". Though we use IR Glow sticks not visible to the naked eye. You can only see them with NVGs. I assume if you're not in the military this seems very strange. Makes perfect sense in regards to what it is meant for. We use Paracord for everything. Seems these boxes are targeted at the military with a lot of these items. As well as your regular outdoor survivalist.

That mylar blanket brings back a memory from my military days. I was TDY to Naval Air Station some cross training for the Air Force.... The bar on that base was amazing. One of my friends bought an Alabama slammer, but the bartender didn't know how to make them and ended up making a pitcher instead of a glass of it.... It wasn't up to my friend's expectations, and we were all hammered by that point... I wasn't about to let liquor go to waste so I drank it all which.... Didn't go too well with the Guinness, whiskey, long Island's, gin and tonics and screwdrivers I was drinking. Soo, we decided have a smoke on the back deck before going back to our rooms... All it took was one bit of smoke hitting my nose and I blew chunks over the side of the deck.... Don't get me wrong, I had a high tolerance, so it wasn't "I drank too much." Sorts of puke, it was "My stomach hates this sweet drink mixing with the not so sweet stuff and why tf did they add Jose Cuervo?" sort of puke. In other words, despite being pretty well set, I could walk straight and talk straight... I didn't think anything of it because, at my permanent party base, that's just one of the ways airmen end their night at the E-club. Blow chunks, go back to your room, proceed to drink some screwdrivers to settle the stomach. So.... When the Ambulance showed up and had me go over and sit in the back with a one of those blankets, I was thoroughly confused.... I mean, if someone was just walking up, they'd have thought I was in a wreck by the way they were treating me.... They even had an EMT walk me back to my room..... They said "It's for safety." which... Idk... It kinda weirded me out because, all I did was puke, it's not like I was crawling or anything... I told them "I'm very experienced with taking the walk of shame, you don't need to do this." they gave me the line about making sure I'm safe, blah blah blah. Half way to the TDY barracks and the guy looks at me and said "You're right, it's kind of useless, you're clearly safe." and all I could think was "No shit. I tried to tell you." That was the most surreal experience I had at that base... Well.... Second to being on the runway, getting ready to fly back to my permanent party base... Waiting for a forecasted hole to appear in the incoming tropical storms that were starting to roll in... From hurricane Ivan.... That was the most surreal...

I work in the ER and that liquid band-aid is similar to something we use called Derma bond. Think super glue for skin. Pro: quick, easy application. Lasts a long time. Con: don't use it on joints. It won't last anywhere near long enough because of the constant movement.

The hook contraption is a fishing snare. It doesn't attach to your pole, you attach it to a overhanging branch and it catches fish for your. It is typically used if you don't have a fishing pole or device, and having multiple snares is always useful.

Out of all of the knives that was put on the table, Tops knives that you had was the best knife out of the box, and Tyler the purpose of the “poker” from tops is more of a self defense knife and it has that ring for an easy grab, mostly seen on karambits but Tops knives makes other survival knives and axes, all of their knives are made in the USA, handmade and hand sharpened too, Tops is a quality knife manufacture out their and loved by most survivalist

I like fatwood for a fire starter. It is cheap or easy to find for free and with a simple pencil sharpener you can a a could of pencil size sticks last for weeks. You can get a decent tactile knife for $10... same with flashlights. The flashlights and knives were OK, but likely all this stuff was either given to BattleBox cheap as a form of advertisement or it was older models left over or new stuff that did not sell well. They get most of the stuff for VERY cheap and then basically sell it to you in random boxes for full price. I like survival kits. I was into them big time 5 years ago or so. They are great for camping too. I got canvas tool bags that were like 6"x10" with a zipper side at Home Depot for $6. I put in a Cree Q5 flashlight with an extra battery, a folding knife, a lighter, a travel pack of baby wipes and Kleenex, an emergency blanket, and a disposable poncho, 3 insect repellent wipes, 3 sun screen wipes, chap stick, dental floss, tweezers, travel soap, a wash cloth, travel tooth brush and tooth paste, 5 packets of Ibuprofen, 5 packets of Benadryl and 5 packets of Imodium, a 7'x9' plastic painting tarp, a handkerchief, a small box of waterproof matches, 2x 6" x 1/4 rods of fatwood, a pencil sharpener, a small sewing kit, dental floss, a 5 fishhooks, 5 pinch sinkers, 25 feet of fishing line, a 1" bobber, 5 granola bars, pack of gum, 20 water tablets, a whistle, a small compass, 10 1" wide Band-Aids, 5 packets of antibacterial ointment, 5 alcohol wipes, 50 feet of paracord. I also had a 1L stainless steel water bottle clipped to it. Literally grab that, a backpack of clothes and food, a tent, and a sleeping back and you are good to go for camping over the weekend... or surviving a few days easily. It weighed maybe 2 pounds and cost about $40 each. I made 4 of them. I did a much larger survival bag too, but I have pulled too many things out of it since then. That had a small stove, folding shovel, hatchet, folding saw, solar shower, large tarp, larger flashlight, sling shot, some cooking pots...

I have that Surviver filter. No way is it 100k liters. it is around 1,000 liters max. 250 or more gallons. You need to back wash the internal fiber filter often if it is getting any kind of murk in the water. It is supposed to filter smaller than .1 microns which is really good. I think it is .05 microns. The pre-filer and final carbon element needs to be changed at 100 liters I think. The issue is it getting clogged really fast so have a syringe handy to back flush with filtered water about every 1 or so gallons in murky water. It gets so hard to push the water through they break for some users. Folks need to back flush fairly often on all of these brands/types of filters or you can damage them.

I got a few BB over a few months. It's certainly fun to receive, but in my opinion you end up with a bunch of crap you won't use. You'll get a few good items as well, but if you were to take the money from say a years worth of Battle Boxes, you're better off spending that money on several quality items instead.

The Fire Dragon solid fuel is designed to be used with a small foldable metal cooker called a Fire Dragon. I have one, but it is tiny and one of those blocks will about do a cup of water, provided you surround the cooker to stop it being blown out by the wind with a metal surround. It is very prone to being blown out.

For the water filter pump. The syringe is likely to backflush the filter to clean it. That is how it lasts so long. If the water is really dirty you want to wrap a cloth around it first. Those filters work really good (life straws and such).
