I feel like the fate universe is really just what 40k would be if they never retconned anything, and every contradictory addition to the series is canon to the rest. Lemme just sum up Gilgamesh real quick in one sentence. He's like the Emperor, but if he was stuck in his 20s, when he still thought he was God's gift to the world. It is often stated that Gilgamesh is the Strongest Servant in Fate, and that the only thing holding him back is his own ego and pride, and I would generally agree with this statement; there are very few Servants who can best Gilgamesh 1v1 if he ever went all out from the start, and even then the fight is rarely in their favor because Gilgamesh has so many weapons at his disposal that even the Orks would start thinking that it's too much This is a man who at the age of 20 could have gone toe-to-toe with the Emperor of Mankind during the Great Crusade and could probably win. He's a man whose unbridled ego would have him murder 99.999% of humanity for not meeting the standards he set back when he was alive, but who would also spit in faces of beings like the Chaos Gods for daring to mess with his 'garden' and defy them to do something about it. This is a man whose personal armory includes a flying ship that can move at the speed of thought, chains that were not only made to bind gods but also become stronger the more 'godly' the thing they're trying to bind is, and a weapon he calls 'Ea' that is so ancient that it does not pre-date the invention of swords it pre-dates the _'Concept of a Sword',_ which itself is considered the poor man's version of Ea. Gilgamesh is considered the bar that everybody in Fate has to measure themselves against as the King of Heroes, the first and greatest hero in human history that all who came after can only imitate. And this guy is the first major villain in the entire Fate franchise. Have fun with that...

To explain a bit more the difference between True Magic and Magecraft, the main difference is that Magecraft has to abide to natural laws (to heal someone, you just speed up the natural healing speed of the body by 100 times, or you can use Magecraft to reinforce your muscles and bringing them to Olympics level, creating a fireball is just igniting the oxygen in the air and then throwing it at the opponent) True Magic is where it gets fun because it doesn't care about any paesant stuff like Physics, or Reality. There are 5 different person that have achieved True Magic, we know 4 of them can do wild stuff. It's clear that the video was meant to highlight the weirder parts of the fateverse instead of a proper retrospective, because a lot of them are missing key context, like how the Moon Cell makes self-aware AIs based on real people or Voyager specifically being designed with elements of The Little Prince due to his Master's influence. It's also very dated in that later events of FGO and Melty Blood have shown why we collectively call them the *nasuverse* and not the fateverse and tsukihimeverse, as they are very much connected.

A remaster of the original visual novel is coming out soon. I would personally hold off before starting any of the anime and just go through that instead. It's the most complete telling of the original story, obviously. Anywhere else you start, you'll be missing details or be spoiled for other things, especially if you start with Zero.

I can kind of think of a story of how a external entity would view the Nasuverse cosmology and it's functions with their mindsets and perspective. Khahrahk the Scarlet King watches Akasha from his dark thrown perceiving the denizens native to it. With his all seeing sight and comprehension he absorbs a ocean of knowledge and memorizes every single nuance and detail from low to high and indepth to flat from internally and externally. He witnesses all the events and destinies behind each individual and their ultimate conclusions. He pities and reject their lowly pathetic existence. The lukewarmness of this existence and the cosmological hypocrisies and the many deceptions and self absorb philosophies are abhorrent to him. He detests the theologies of abstract formless destinies of self petty glorification, renown, and idolized validation, the branches of fate set by the powers that reign within this sea of realities and the countless cycles of pure vanity they preach he abhores. Their rewards are nothing but perpetual folly and self deception imposed upon their very fundamental being. A blight. The detached indifference and twisted motivations he finds lacking and shallow. No different from the accursed Brothers Death notions and cosmic abominations under the Tree of Knowledge just as when he was young and a newborn all the way to his young adulthood. He shook his head off and mentally calmed himself to resolve those experiences of his. With spite the Antlered Denier of Destinies and the Cycle Breaker banishes Akasha away from his presence while harming it's integrated structure. The formless abstract entities dwelling within feel the sudden surge of harm like birth pains but instead coming from externally by a unknown hand which radiates detest for their creation. Several of the meta principles within crack and fracture weakening resulting in much calamity upon several universes. Not even the Ultimate Ones or the Servants verse were safe from the rifts and whirlwinds that manifested instantly across their histories. Akasha halts near another group of presences as Khahrahk offers it into the hands of his devoted faithful created servants the Daevites and a squad of his adolescent progeny as a gift to enter it when ever they are committed with the intention of conquest and dominion in his name and to grow in experience and annihilate the beings within while restructuring it's created form with their power and knowledge. However unknown to either Khahrahk and his servants another external presence saw this and left to gather mighty warriors with the power to defend this multiverse's innocent inhabitants from this malicious threat.

There is alot of small scale reality warping abilities that are set in rules on the earth and solar system of the Fate verse. In the Nasuverse every planet is it's own kind of reality. The laws of physics still apply but different planets including earth are kind of alive and self aware with their own authority and dominion over how the Nasuverse magic system operates within their territories. Gaia and Ayala are the disembodied forces which operate on earth and have some ways to influence events in time to keep the planet intact and tries to make sure things don't go too out of hand and end of with a circumstance where the planet blows up or annihilated and they can kind of prune timelines on Earth but they don't have universal power and do have limitations of what they are capable of doing and sometimes or alot can be overwhelmed and undermined. They are below the Throne of Heroes technically in power scale terms and some Grand Servants and Mages had been able to undermine both before. Faye Grand Order being a prime narrative example. The other powers like the Ultimate Ones can be considered direct threats to Gaia and Ayala as creatures like ORT even with 1 percent of power in Fate Grand Order can forcibly hack the Throne of Heroes at will directly. Servants also don't have endless power as they too are bound by physics even with their noble phantasms and weapons and have physical limitations and need large amounts of Mana for their powers to be active. And they do carry limitations of their capacity alot. Sometimes Mages can physically beat up Servants in those scenarios. And couple are outright stronger then there own Servants. Like a short blonde girl I forgot her name who is Proto Arthur's master and is said to be stronger then he is even as a Servant by Fate lore channels. There maybe a few exceptions where they can have a higher degree tier of power but those are extremely circumstantial and not the rule. Whether it's from a entirely different seperate universe or some vague advance magic simulation matrix with undefined inter dimension physics. It's not as powerful as alot people in the powerscaling community claim but they are decent powerhouses with alot of haxes, authority, and dominion manipulation abilities and techniques across it's magic system. Power gaps aren't astronomical just enough to make significant differences. Lostbelt Kings with Fantasy Trees have access to outright get past Ayala and fight Beasts directly and some are stronger then others that can range from star destorying powers to solar system scaled abilities. But they can lose those tiers of powers they ascend to. So not exactly Doctor Who/Faction Paradox levels of multiversal crisises but still significant for it's world. Alot more localized and consolidated to the region of Earth. But I wonder what a Toaru Majutsu no Index and Nasuverse merging crossover would be like. Gaia, Ayala, and the Throne of Heroes would have a endless nightmare dealing the Magic Gods messing and altering with their metaphysical powersystems as they see fit on large magnitudes while they can't keep up.

As someone neck deep into the hellscape that is Fate lore and at the same time intrigued by 40k as story I will say this ... at least 40k only has to deal with one timeline. FGO at conceptual level could have actually been the platform to unify the entire mess of a timeline.... but someone that it was a great idea to add a rule to it's lore that says at least half the timelines on that wall would get erased from existence in the FGO universe because they are too divergent from the base timeline. Hell the original Fate/Stay Night timeline would most likely get scrubbed because it contains 4 more Holy Grail Wars than FGO which only has one. And here's the messiest part - servants have been shown to have memories from timelines that should not exist in FGO and I've yet to see an explanation other than ... fanservice.
