I guess this proves what a lot of people don't talk about in digital/POD - quality not quantity. No shade on what you did; no one's going to be able to do that much content in that short a time span and not keep it very basic. But these videos often seem like an example of what not to do for me; churning out content to milk the machine won't work as well as having creative substance to contribute.
@@drewmonroe8586 technically I'm on there but only with 5 or 6 things which I did to get a feel for it. I'm not committed to it just yet; I have other projects I'm winding up and am considering moving over to Society 6 instead.
@@penelopesparrow first off congrats.. and 2nd wtf is society 6? It's the same thing right? There's this other similar site too but generated more sales for a creative seller so there's that
That's nuts. Less than sixty dollars after 6 months... How do you justify any of this? What about all the time you spent making the designs? Unless your hourly rate is something like $0.30, there's no way any of this was worth your time. Anyway, thanks at least for being honest. Redbubble seems like a huge scam now, at least anyone watching this video doesn't have to find out for themselves.
Totally agree with Adrian Mark, this is insane. I appreciate so much this video because it shows how much people get misinformed by the hype of "free webshop" Gurus.... is not free or easy at all you need to have good designs, a good niche, and promote and invest in advertisements if you want any result whatsoever. You are pretty much a slave of RedBubble making them bigger while you keep competing with millions of designs, is a lost fight unless you have amazing designs and a good social media following that helps you to spread the word...
I had 3 designs up before my first sticker sold and I made $0.28 profit. I agree with the other commenter, this whole story can DRASTICALLY change if you are uploading better designs with more thought and creativity put into them.
I opened a rb store 2 months ago and only put 9 designs up and didn't touch it because of time constraints. I had a look the other day and realised I had sold one of my designs on a poster and made a profit of $8.22 AUD. Cheering. No social media and none of my friends and family know about it. Thanks for the video.
50 per day is insane. As a OG Redbubble seller, I think that upload 10/20 designs a day is great. I'm in the 10 design per day tier and this is generating some good money. Stick with more sustainable strategy and your store is going to blow up!
I think it would be really cool if he did a challenge to make 2 stickers in two weeks and see how that performed versus the 140 stickers. Spending a lot of time researching best selling stickers and creating a really awesome design
red bubble sounds like a crazy waste of time for most folks. of the two other RU-vidrs, I saw talk about red bubble. one had 10k designs listed, and the other 30k designs. you have to do an insane amount of work.
New Subscriber here! I'm currently working on my RedBubble store and getting more designs up.. also just started on Zazzle! I think RB is a rough market. So many spam taggers, and so many copied designs☹️But I figure the more options I'm using, the better for selling, so I'll keep the RB. Also, I think some people don't understand 'passive income'. If you put the designs up, they can sit as long as the platform is up, and you may make sales years down the line!
@@StatProductReview I did unfortunately... I applied before I had any stores or designs, so I don't think I had anything worth them accepting me for, so I got rejected ☹️I may try another time with a different email in the future.
@Audrey Star17 if you applied recently, Amazon hasn't been accepting many. You'll have much better odds in the first half of the year. Amazon was actually my first store so I didn't have any either but applied in February of 2021. To my surprise I got accepted so I really do think timing plays a major factor
You are maxed out at 60 uploads per day (regardless of how many shops you are running) and this is in the terms. The only things that Flag designs for review is words that are on an unpublished list of protected terms which are related their partner programs. It could be as simple as EMOJI which is one of their partners. This is like how we use Kleenex to describe facial tissue but it is actually a trademark name. It is a complete drag because they tell you the design is approved but then say they may alter that decision at any time.
You can adjust your profit margins for each product, yes, but if you go too far outside it I think it would impact sales. While the profit margin is horrible, as you said, it's basically a leave and forget passive income. I've had my Redbubble store for about 3 years, and ignored it for 2 years until recently, and was still making between $20 and $190 per month, mostly closer to $20, but I did nothing for that income, so I'll take it!
Well that’s lucky, I uploaded one design after being a customer with red bubble for over a year and I got permanently suspended. It included my own photography and design work and it was clean and did not infringe up one anyone’s copyright.
I just joined Redbubble and was suspended after I uploaded the 5th work. It didn't infringe anyone's copyright. I don't know the reason for the suspension.
Hi Julian, I am wondering on what would the results be with 30 designs a day if you also post them on social media like instagram and pinterest with links to the products. I would really love to see a video about how you would use social media (for free) as a marketing tool for your store.
@@amandagfuller why dont you guys just go and try it yourself? Its free after all :) I m doing it right now. 3rd day with 4 designs and so far no sale is what i can say. Using insta and pinterest
I opened a Redbubble account and after loading three designs my account was closed. I asked them why, but they said that it didn't comply with their rules. I've heard stories of people who have their stores closed after being with them for a long time. So I guess I should feel lucky that my store was closed earlier. Redbubble is not a reliable platform.
I created a red bubble account. Uploaded two designs that did not breach TOS and they nuked my account with giving a reason, never allowed to create another account, not allowed to ask why. Have heard this same story from others.
redbubble sucks. they should remake the website. i am making little money on this but i am not surprised people prefer buying stickers even if my designs are available on tshirts and so on... Not to mention mid quality tshirts are too expensive. RB would make way more money if they do so
The amount of work you put into so many designs to get paid 60$ isn't worth it in my opinion. Obviously for a youtube video it's a great idea that will pay off, though :)
I realise this video is a year old now, but I think it serves as a useful reality check for anyone considering POD. There's an abundance of influencer videos out there promoting the idea of massive earnings, thousands of $ per month and while that might be true for a tiny majority - perhaps with the necessary funds to run ad campaigns and other promotional strategies, the reality for most is the earnings amount to just a few crumbs. My own experience from 400-odd designs is 6 sales in 3 months. It could be argued that if sale are not happening the designs are not good, or just not trendy enough, or you haven't found the right niche - well maybe... but that then also highlights another issue - the difficulties determining what kind of designs will be popular and what so-called 'niche's' are actually likely to sell.
How do they allow so many uploads in 1 day? I have 172 designs in my store because I upload 3 a day out of fear of getting suspended as 1 of my other accounts got suspended prior to this.
Its so sad they hinder people with a fire in their asses to make money by refusing many uploads in a short amount of time.. Its just FREAKING FRUSTRATING and most people just give up when this happens.. 🤬 Redbubble looses enormous amounts of money by doing this.. But its not the first time a company has stupid people in charge..
Tnx for the video. On Redshit, you will die for 1 sale, and if u get one. Redshit will be happy to charge you high fees then your net profit will be $ 0.0001. I just hate redshit.
POD can be a very profitable business. If you have money already saved to run ads or hire an influencer to promote your pod site. If you just try to do the SEO free traffic way good luck. You won’t be able to leave your day job anytime soon. Payouts suck with pod.
Guys ! please does anyone know why i just started redbubbles and i upload 8 designs , its says in the beginning that its going to take only 15 min to be live in shop , and until now none of my stickers are posted on my store
Hi, thanks for the video, i have a question. Do you know something about copyright? I read rules in redbubble, but i see a lot of products inspired from games and comics.. how is possible? i wanto to make original art inspired from games but i don't know if i can do it or not..
Awesome video Julian, I might have to try and do a similar challenge, 420 designs may be out of my reach though haha! That's good going! Thanks for sharing
#Hello, Although I do not fully understand the reasons for closing my store, it was a very, very ridiculous method of closing. It is meaningless and ridiculous to delete the design that I have uploaded more than 1200. Don't waste your time, all your time is wasted.
I challenge you to make a 3 designs store, but make the quality of the designs beyond incredibly great!! Make it really awesome, so awesome you and your friends will love to buy it!! I'm pretty sure you can make more sales than you do with a 420 designs store....
@@MissMolly3377 Apologies, so I what I do is create a custom size of 5,000x5,000 px, and then when I go to download I increase the size to 10,000x10,000 px. Hopefully that should work
Loving this transparency dude! Some solid progress. I've been using Redbubble for just over a year now with some success and have created a video tutorial on the methods I've been using. Thanks again for the content bro, looking forward to your next vid.
@@Julian_Adams Thank you! I suspect that Chatgpt had something to do with that. It is so much easier (faster) now to do SEO tags and product descriptions.
That is not working for me. I have over 1000 unique designs in 1 store and 700+ in another. first store is old (over 10 years old) and I sell there between $150-300 a month, but newer store with 700+ better designs (all high def and beautiful unique art) only sells 1-2 item a month and store is not 2 years old, so I don't know how people make those types of sales, Im completely demotivated to post on Redbubble. I have one more smaller store with over 250 designs which is 5 y. old, but I don't wanna even mention it cause there I sell 3 items a year lol. So My experience in over 10 years doing it - it just not worth the time and effort.
Congratulations on completing the challenge! You look tormented but satisfied. Thanks for the inspiring video and for great idea of using multiple windows to upload designs ;)
I am so disappointed! I tried to open a red bubble store and it won’t open and says restricted account. Any clue as to why that would be? I have rights to all designs and they are silly quotes, etc I tried to upload.
Hey Julian, Redbubble has design upload limit of 50 designs per day, so how did you manage to upload 450 designs in 7 days? And how did you also managed to escape their spam filter?
Not sure where the 450 came from or where you heard the limit being 50 designs per day. The maximum you can upload is 60 designs per day, hence the total number being 420 across 7 days.
I have a question for you. You have nice clever idea but I wonder if people did not copy your designs especially after you shared your store link here.
