Hey Nina! First off Thomas is adorable! Thanks for sharing a picture of him! I must say that is some stretchy tape! I haven’t got this new tape yet...thankful to know what to do when I get some! So happy you came up with the idea 💡 on how to solve the sticky problem! Happy Crafting Nina! Can’t wait to see your next shaker card video!
A just in time video...I was just about to order a new roll of this 3M tape, now I’ll order after I buy wax paper. Someone needs to give 3M feedback...they had a terrific product. I prefer to buy American-made products so I’ve shied away from purchasing some of the new rolls on the market because they’re made in China and were charged USA-made prices. Again thank you for sharing
i've been saving my old sticker back paper (release paper) for years. I never used the 3m foam but mine has always been sticky. Also wetting your scissors will help
I am soooooo glad you shared this. This foam tape is not cheap and I know I would be very mad if I got it and saw the difference. You saved me. Extremely helpful, really thanks for sharing.
THANK YOU!! I have been sooooo frustrated with that newly formulated tape. It has been making me crazy! This is a great solution! Will definitely be doing this. (Still wish they'd bring back the old style of tape.) Thomas is beautiful!
Thanks for the neat tip. I am going to make up a bunch of strips to have on hand. I love the pic of your kitty cat. Every craft room needs a cat or dog to help with creativity.
Thanks for the tip. I may use this for some that I have, but I don’t believe I will be buying anymore of this brand. I just don’t need one more thing to do! There are many other brands out there that has the thickness that I am used to, and like, that are way more economical than 3M.
Agreed. I'm sure 3M was trying to cut costs and once they see that they are losing customers because of it I hope that they will see the error in their ways.
Great idea foe cutting any foam tape. There is nothing more frustrating then trying to cut thins strips of foam tape for shaker cards. Thank you for sharing 😊🤗
Ughhh…i just ordered some 3m tape and i pray it’s been redesigned again! Cute kitty! I’m crafting and dealing w/ a relentless Siamese kitty who wants me to play an endless game of fetch w/ her fav toy which is a firm 1” pom-pom (got a bag from Amazon). I throw, she flies thru the air to retrieve it😂 A lot of the time pom-pom is returned wet to my craft table because she stopped to dunk it in her water bowl! She drops it right in front of me onto my pile of 1/4” cardstock strips…immediate warpage😩😻
They are the best assistants... well, most of the time that is! Thomas likes to push things on to the floor. Probably his way of telling me to clean up the desk! LOL!
Wow, thanks for sharing your tip! I don't have the 3M tape just because it's so darn expensive but I do have foam tape and it gums up my scissors every time. I tried your tip and it works fabulously! Mind blown!
Angel bear kitty Thomas!!! Oh. Great tip, too! Hahaha. Seriously, this is a really good alternative even to non-stick scissors. I was a little confused at first. I don't know why I thought there was release paper on the back side of the roll tape. Of course it peels away sticky!
Nina - Thank you for your tip - I still have the older version, but I'll be prepared, in future! I think Thomas just wanted to be included in the video - so cute! I don't know how you have FOUR cats - I have 3 adopted cats of varying age - they keep me busy enough!
Awww! That's so awesome you have three cats!! My boyfriend and I adopted each of our kitties from local shelters. Thomas and Oscar are twins; they were our first adoptions. The other two were adopted 6 months later; Maddie and Allie, they are sisters (a tuxedo and a calico). Ironically, even though we adopted them 6 months apart, they are all the same age! The girls are 1 month older than the boys; in April and May they all turned 2!
You are a genius. I got one of those super sticky rolls a couple of months ago and was so frustrated that I couldn’t wait to use it up so I could get a different brand
Genius!!! I got some foam tape ages ago and it had this exact same problem. I was so frustrated with it. I may have thrown it out but if i didn't (and lets face it this is most likely the case) Im going to try this method. So clever!!
Brilliant! I have about 5 inches of the "old" tape in my desk on top of a brand new giant roll. I know this is going to be helpful! Thank you! It was nice to meet Thomas and I love your cat themed storage too!
I recently bought some Sizzix foam tape and I am having the same sticky problem. I will try this technique. I am sorry that 3M has changed their formulation. It was my favorite foam tape. Thanks for sharing this trick. Jeannine
I still have the old 3m foam tape. I’ve heard nightmares about the new formulation on the newest 3m foam tape. Thank you for finding a solution for the new foam tape! One day I’ll run out! Loved seeing Thomas, he’s a cutie! I have 3!! 😃
Thanks for the tip! I bought some black foam tape to use under black die cuts, and it stretched, stuck to my scissors, etc! I thought it got too hot in shipping or something like that! I love your solution (I thought it was going in the trash) Thanks so much!
They do know; from what I have heard, it was their choice to permanently change the make-up of this tape. I believe it was to be more environmentally friendly. But in the process of doing so, it's made their tape a lot harder to work with.
Awww sweet and pretty cat! Loved it to see you. Thanks for sharing the tip. This is exactly what I do, cause men... Those disgusting scissors... I was done with it. I use release backings of self adhesive sheets or magnetic sheets
Thanks for sharing this hack,I have 1 pair of scissors just for tape as sick of them sticking etc,I even started using cardboard instead of foam tape due to all above video,so definitely going to try this 😊
Brilliant! I have been buying foam tape from the dollar store and although it’s super sticky, it is usually too wide. Results, sticky scissors and bad words in my head. Lol Thank you!
Nina-Marie, you are so cute. This video is the first time I saw you. Your voice is cute too. TFS this tip of freezer paper so that the foam tape doesn’t stick to your scissors.
Thank you for sharing. I use Teflon scissors, I think I got them at WM, not very expensive. They work well but even better using the freezer paper. I love the idea of cutting the thin strips. Much cheaper than buying pre-cut strips. As a suggestion, please do not hold your phone while filming. I have to fast forward past that part because the movement makes me dizzy!
