Yeeessss! I can attest to this. I’ve used an old hand towel with dish soap and water just barely damp not soaking wet. I’ve done this for years! Works Wonders! Better then anything the furniture stores will sell you as I sold quality furniture for many years. Always buy what you Love over years and it’ll tell you story ❤
Not a bad idea BUT DID YOU NOT KNOW THE LIFE OF THE FURNITURE WILL EVENTUALLY DRY ROT? IT'S BETTER TO USE UPHOLSTERY SPRAYS, AND A FEW DROPS OF DISINFECTANT, FOLLOWED BY VACUUMING AGAIN. BECAUSE SOAP SOLUTIONS NEEDS TO BE RINSED. ALSO TRY TO FIND SCOTCH GUARD PROTECTION AFTER YOU HAVE CLEANED THAT WAY IT ALSO WILL WATERPROOF THE FURNITURE. HOPE I HELPED. GOD BLESS ALL!
Good idea! I've got to share this with my daughter; she has velvet chairs very similar to yours. Wrapping the cloth around a pot lid would make it a lot easier for cleaning other types of furniture, too! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Why not simply buy a floor shampooer w/furniture attachments and do a proper cleaning? This is the El cheapo hillbilly 'poor' man's way of getting the job done. I mean if you're gonna spend money on high maintenance furniture wouldn't you invest in the proper machinery to clean it?
Nice idea but I don't think for the velvet unless it's performance Velvet/Suede. Maybe you can just get a steamer or something like that especially since you have little children.
One thing is for sure it really works your arms. I would have to switch off due to my arms getting tired. Thank you for the tip. That technique seems to me would work on any type of fabric furniture. Just try in an incompicuous area first to see if there is any kind of bleeding of fabric and to see if there is any discoloring of the fabric, before doing the whole piece of furniture. I have the same dining chairs... bought them in late 2020....but the black with gold legs. I don't think your chair will last long using this method. Use products made for velvet upholstery
If you put a sheet over the chairs when its eating time then you dont have to worry about the chairs getting dirty. If the sheet gets dirty or geta food on it then kust throw it in the washing machine to wash at the end of the day
