Just wondering, even though this is a fantasic practical solution LOL would it be better to bring the leaf blower back a little, as it being too close may be causing air to surface friction not letting the metal dicipate the heat properly? Just wondering :)

You should try to 3d printing an attachment on a 360 radiator that could connect to the leaf blower and have the AC right next to the leaf blower to see if that gives better results

This reminds me of something I did Jay. I used a Lasko Pro-Performance High Velocity Utility Fan as a 375 CFM case exhaust fan. I used a clothes dryer flexible exhaust hose to duck tape on the air intake of the fan and the other end was taped to a open fan mount on the outside of the case. Airflow achieved.

Water to water heat exchangers are more efficient than trying to remove heat to the air. I think it's time for Jay to get a reasonably prived plate heat exchanger and a small pump, drop the heat exchanger exhaust hoses into a 55 gallon drum of water, and see how much he can get the temperature to rise. Another option might be to just immerse a sintered bronze keel cooler in the drum instead of a radiator and then a 2nd pump would be unnecessary.

I used to work as a laptop tech and repaired a lot of laptops coming from schools. Those schools often had some sort of workshop class, metal work, carpentry, etc. Guess what those students did when their computer's fan clogged up with dust and debris _and_ they had access to that sweet, massive shop air compressor… I'm pretty sure those classes alone kept laptop fan manufacturers in business for years. :)

Fun fact: super fast moving air will actually cool worse than normal, this is due to the drag coefficient where theres a point the air actually sticks to the fins like a coating while air moves past that "coating" of air. This is used in airplanes and is why the bottom side of the wings are flat or almost flat while the top part is curved and is why air moves slower on the bottom creating pressure Having flat fins mean the air is pretty much bypassing the surfaces

roflol. Can't! Breathe! Can't. Breath!!🤣🤣🤣 Side note: maybe try an heat sink from a push-pull cooler? They usually have two heat sinks.
@kevin9218
@kevin9218 11 месяцев назад
Increasing airflow only provides an advantage up to a certain point. Once the airflow reaches the point where the heat cannot conduct from the heatsink to the air fast enough to result in a significant increase in the temperature of the air before it leaves the area of the fins, increasing airflow won't produce any effect. You also run into a limit based on how fast heat can conduct from the CPU into the contact plate of the heatsink, and from the plate through the heat pipes to the fins. Interestingly, increasing the density of the air flowing through fins, without increasing it's temperature, should produce an increase in the maximum rate of heat exchangeable before hitting a limit, or changing the air with a better heat conducting gas. In short, you can only cool the fins down to the temperature of the air being forced through them, and the cooling of the CPU is determined mostly by the difference in temperature between the CPU and whatever the heat is being conducted into, in this case being copper, aluminum, whatever they used in the heat pipes, and ultimately air. The air is the least conductive, (which is the reason heatsinks have large fin stacks to increase surface area, and therefore conduction), and the end location for the heat energy to be moved to, so it is the temperature of the air that ultimately determines the maximum cooling effectiveness.
