I totally agree with what you said at the end about homeless/poor people and how they should be a priority in things like this. I actually wasnt expecting for you to make that observation, and I'm glad you did. As you said food waste is a serious problem that a lot of companies don't care about, and would rather throw it away instead of handing it to homeless people because it's a cheaper, easier and faster alternative. That app is a cool idea because it saves food, but it does kind of suck that they'd rather sell it, for whatever discounted price, instead of giving it for free. But I guess thats better than nothing. Proud of you for making that observation😊

I think this app can actually be a solution for homeless people and people with not that much money as it's way cheaper than what is costs normally. If you have a pizza of €10 and you get 75% off you'll get it for €2,50 which is way more affordable for people with a low income

I used to work at Dunkin Donuts and the thing I absolutely *HATED* the most about working there was the inventory of leftover food at the end of the night *THAT WE PUT IN A TRASH BAG AND PUT IN A DUMPSTER* perfectly good food that could’ve fed someone less fortunate just tossed in the trash 😒

This is great for homeless shelters, students and low income families or maybe you want to try a different kind of cuisine but don’t want to risk too much money in case you don’t like it, or maybe the restaurants you like are closed and you work odd hours.

Here in Portugal, restaurants collect the food at the end of the day and either give them to their employees or give to the poor and in the south of Portugal, there's this group of badass bikers that always go collect the food from restaurants and then distribute it along the homeless in a soup kitchen

This is a great video idea and a great app idea. I think all restaurants should be apart of something like this. Grocery stores as well. Some donate but they still throw away so much food I know its for liability reasons as well but man how many people under the poverty line could benefit from this. Businesses too

In Denmark, we have an app called to good to go and it basically is the same concept where a half hour before the restaurant or bakery closes u can buy a meal box or a bag full of baked goods for a few pounds. The difference is that each place has a number of goods for a day and you can buy them ahead of time so you can buy it from the app and just pick it up at the restaurant

We an have an app in Germany that's called toogoodtogo and it's pretty good. Before purchasing you can see the time window where you can pick up the food. Sadly not all my favourite restaurants do this haha. But I got a huge paper bag full of almost perfectly fine vegetables and fruit for 3 € from a supermarket near me so not complaining. The only thing is because it's used so much you have to sometimes order a day in advance. There is a fish fast food place called Nordsee here and it feels like they got stuff 24/7. But you can't always choose what to get, because most restaurants can't control their leftovers.

I wish America would do this. I work in a restaurant and I’ve worked in restaurants for the past 10 years & I hate amount of waste most throw away. The restaurant I work at now, we take food that was messed up or extra & put it up for feed America & they come every Thursday to get food so that’s a happy plus for me but I do wish we did better to manage food waste, we make enough to end world hunger.
