I USED HAIR GREASE FOR A MONTH...

For an entire month, I decided to ONLY use grease.
and it pretty much fixed my scalp.
That's the takeaway.
I've been dealing with dandruff for years now, but recently it's been the absolute WORST.
I used to just oil my scalp after wash day and could carry on with minimal flaking, but for whatever reason she decided to SNOW.
So I tried anti-dandruff shampoo, reducing my use of certain products because of my protein sensitivity....and you guessed it: GREASE.
To my surprise it worked extremely well.
Every single time I do my hair I start by greasing my scalp!
Do you use grease? Let me know why or why not in the comments section!

As a professional, I can tell you that your scalp/dandruff issues is NOT a scalp problem, it is a Digestive problem. Your body contains lots of Yeast which is manifesting on the scalp. Yes, dandruff is yeast. It's what also cause Athletes foot. The foods you eat creates an abundance of Yeast because the body is TOO ACIDIC, your PH is off, the body needs to be in an alkaline state.

Grew up with a Single father and he used Hair Grease for a time, but we decided to stop because it was giving me HORRIBLE acne that wasn't going away even with dermatologist-recommended ointments. Although I don't think the grease was working as effectively in my hair as it should've simply for the fact that back in the day. Hair Relaxers were also popular and it wasn't until around 2014 or 2013 when black people started realizing just how horrible that shit is for your hair. We were using the grease, but the relaxers just flat out ruined the structure of my hair strands so it probably didn't help at all. Now, as an adult I have more freedom to do what I want with my hair and I've been natural for about 4-5 years now. I've still had issues retaining length (as Hair relaxers have damaged my scalp so much that some sides just don't grow at all and remain forever dry) and issues with dandruff so hopefully going back to hair grease and strong use of protective styles will remedy this. I'm super excited!

because he's just leaving his hair in braids and not doing anything with it. males can get away with braids in their hair while females usually wear other styles. leaving your hair alone makes it easier to retain length, which is why you might think it's easier for males to grow their hair out.

Most people don’t know HOW to use grease. Its mostly used as a sealant and if you don’t use water, and a moisturizer or leave in conditioner BEFORE putting the grease on your hair (a little bit). Then duuuuuu its going to make your hair dry. 🙄
@catherinebutler3003
@catherinebutler3003 4 года назад
I have to say that my generation, born in the 60s, used grease differently. My mom used Suave shampoo & conditioner (rinsed out), then greased the scalp (thin layer) and hair; styled in braids, plaits, twists, ponytails or buns, then air dried....that's it. We greased the scalp, brushed the grease down our stands and added more grease to the hair, only if needed. We didn't do deep treatments or leave-ins either, and hair stayed moisturized between washes, every 2 weeks. The water and conditioner hydrated the hair, and the grease helped to condition the scalp and hair along with keeping the moisture in. We didn't struggle to get it out either, doing 2 washes. You have to use a sulfate shampoo, or Dr. Bronners Castile Soap to wash the scalp and hair clean. I noticed that people are using way more grease in their hair than we did. I still have a lot of healthy waist length hair, which would be longer if I didn't cut a lot. I went natural again in my 40s and became a product junkie(smh). Now I'm ready to reintroduce conditioning hair dressers and grease again to see how my hair reacts. Natural products are so expensive. Peace and Blessings!
@itsrashard

Catherine Butler Personally i don’t use grease because you have to use a strong sulfate shampoo to get it out of your hair and I’ve had some bad skin reactions to shampoos with strong sulfates.

Ros, Castor oil/Jamaican black castor oil helped my dry scalp and might encourage hair growth. Coconut oil is good for dry scalps too. Some people also use vitamin e oil which (I think, correct me if I’m wrong) strengthens the hair. You can also add a few drops of peppermint essential oil to a carrier oil(things like coconut oil, olive oil etc) to promote hair growth since peppermint oil attracts blood to the applied area, increasing blood flow and in turn promoting hair growth. Always dilute essential oils at a concentration of no more than 5%

I tried the natural oil trend for like a year and my hair just never felt moisturized, so i went back to my mamas method blue magic indian hemp grease and my hair is thicker den a snicker and almost waist length, thas the problem wit folks always running to jump on the bandwagon of other people's opinions instead of doing what worked for them as kids even into adulthood, I admit i was briefly guilty of that but I raaaan back to my greasy roots and my hair has thrived, If I hadnt went back to grease and continued wit essential oils I would probably still be at APL smh

@reniqharris
@reniqharris 4 года назад
@@sheilabrown3597 honestly they are both great sealants, I just prefer the indian hemp because of the herbal extracts it offers as well...basically all I do is wash and deep condition my hair every weekend on a sat , put a small amount of any moisurizer from the root of my hair down the shaft then go back over each section with a small amount of grease from root to shaft , twist it up put my bonnet on, I do this once a week and it retains length like crazy, now if u want to oil your actual scalp use an essential oil like coconut, grapeseed, rosemary , castor etc.. Whatever u like...i do that step as well to the scalp only

@@urbanhennabyherlymer4512 its your choice but i choose to use it only as a sealant because it locks in moisture and keeps those ends in tact, the scalp on its own produces a natural oil called sebum and does not really need a extra petroleum product to clog it ...but I will suggest if u do decide to use it on your scalp as well, use it very lighly because too much can be clogging to the pores

Then one day as I was going through YT natural hair channels, I realized that natural hair rules had changed, and grease was forbidden, so I stopped. Immediately, I noticed that my hair had a sand-like feeling, and discovered that I was having a SEVERE case of single strand knots, something I had never experienced before. I am back to using my grease, only that this time I apply a lot of water before I seal it all in with the grease. I no longer have the knots, and my hair is back to its previous healthy form.

Mariah Mariah what does keeping it in the fridge do?

HEAVEN I think she did that so it could last, I bought some a while back and kept it under the sink about a month later I open it and it had black stuff on it(I think it was mold) but from then on out I kept it in the fridge and now I don’t have that issue.

Grease is the be all, end all in my opinion. I hopped on that natural bandwagon for a smooth year or two, and my waist length hair went bye byes 👋🏼. Single strand knots, always dry, flakes all over my scalp, it was nuts. Got back to using my Indian hemp oil, $2.49 at Walmart, and voila! Hair was back like it never left. Ends look great, hair is thick, and my scalp is no longer peeling and getting yellow scales all over it. Aloe vera juice or water, followed by grease, is all I use now and I shall not stray. Oh and black castor oil on them edges, Thanks for making a video on this! As always, your videos are superb!

Will, when I was a child I wanted a chemistry set, Mom said no. She thought I would blow up the house. Well I continued to play chemist mixing things in the kitchen and in my craft room. Back in 2015 I started mixing my own treatment for my hair to give me shine and definition. This is what I came up with. I put Shea butter in my microwave for a few min or so. Let that cool down but, still liquid. Put the melted Shea in a Glass bowl then added a little at a time of African Pride, Shea Miracle, Leave in Conditioner. I then mixed this concoction with a electric hand mixer till it was light and fluffy. Placed the mixture in small containers and stored it in the refrigerator till I needed some. Let me tell you oiling my scalp and hair with that cool mixture was so enjoyable. I still make it to this day. This mixture is light and adds moisture to hair and because of the light weight it washes out with no problem. P.S. I applied it to freshly washed damp hair. P.P.S I'm 69 this year so you know I have been through several hair styles and treatments over the years, I have tried it all. Natural hair styling is my favorite. Love your channel and I am a subscriber. You are a delightful young man, keep up the good work.

@@faithmartina4144 I loc’d my hair just over a year ago. I’m product free now expect for oil and water. If I remember correctly I was using the African pride leave in conditioner spray, and curling cream, and a little bit of grease in my scalp and palms for taking by twist down.

We used to wet our hair, soften/melt about a tsp of grease - sometimes mix in coconut oil (summer) and/or castor oil (winter), lightly coat the scalp/top third and ends, comb & brush it through the entire length and plait/twist/braid it up for the week......everybody was Rapunzel growing up! 🤣😂

I've been following a lady on here by the name of Mrs Mississippi. She grew her hair with just shampoo and grease. So I decided to try it. My hair is softer and more pliable. I don't use a lot of it. And it surprising doesn't feel greasy. I don't feel any knots on my ends and less hair came out last two washes.
