The Picasso Sad Clown was certainly a masterpiece.

The one thing his Sim couldn't get in his apartment was a healthy social bar, and his friends coming to paint solved that problem too

The way his voice breaks when he says “people said yes” makes me cry every time

I came for the peeing yourself repeatedly and hanging out outside for two days straight. I stayed for the existential hope of friendship and the bonds that tie us together in this great cosmic void.

The real decorations were the friends made along the way.

I can't stand blank walls, so in college I started hitting up thrift stores for flat bedsheets to pin on the walls like tapestries. They cover a lot of empty space, they're easier and cheaper than paint or wallpaper, you can change them as often as you want, and they come in all kinds of colors and patterns. Kid's sheets are especially fun, I've had Mario, TARDIS pattern, Hogwarts, and Spider-Man over the years. Two bucks and a few pushpins can completely transform a room.

i’m rewatching this now and when his friends came over i thought “all those people in such a small space with no masks oh my god!!” before remembering that this was filmed before.. yeah.,

W.H. Auden once wrote, "We must love one another or die." He definitely wasn't expecting that poem to reflect the themes of a RU-vid video about churning out sad clown paintings in a tiny NYC apartment for an experiment based on the Sims when he put pen to paper in 1939, but here we are.

I can’t even write a joke I realized that while I was doing my best to adapt to living in a new city I was horrifyingly lonely and it was destroying my mental health so I reached out for help and I’m doing better now. i started crying watching this video when Brian said his friends helped him paint because they genuinely wanted to. made me think of my boyfriend's struggle in realising that people would want to help him because they truly care about him and not for ulterior motives.

Me, starting this video: "haha nice fun video" Me, ending it: "...are friends, over material goods, what make your life worth living? Is a home, larger than any mansion but devoid of life, a home, or a prison? Is that which the wealthy can afford merely distraction from the greater, more human quest to simply love, and be loved, by others?"

It's funny: if you look at his Sim's stats, they always show that the reason he's so miserable is his social stat. And when Brian takes the experiment to real life, the reason it all comes together is that he gets his friends over for communal clown painting.

Somebody painting 100s of bad paintings in the middle of the night till they get so stressed that they have to go to sleep and then Turing their house into a painting factory is THE MOST SIMS THING EVER

Ah, i got flashbacks to my college finals week when i was crying and not showering because i had a 25 page essay due in 6 hours that i only finished 10 pages of... my roommate came to me saying "What the hell? Go take a shower!" And added 3 extra pages to my terrible essay with their own terrible rant on the subject. Grammar and punctuation and run-on sentences be damned, it was what motivated me to finish college without finishing my life.

Brian’s Sims character is like his secret self: a demonic organizational being in a suit.

I hope every person who helped Brian paint sad clowns sees this video and fondly remembers the silly times that brought so much delight.

And to think, only 10 months after this video came out, Brian would have a house in Nebraska, be his own boss, and be making 10-20 thousand dollars a month, all while working only 2 hours a day using only a computer and internet access. And you can do it too!

not even mentioning the incredibly emotional themes of depression and asking for help when you need it, the “even death forgot me” speech is genuinely something out of my nightmares imagine this, you’re in your house going about your day when suddenly you trip and fall, hitting your head hard on the floor and not being able to stand up. you feebly cry for help for a few hours, but you’re bleeding heavily, and soon you find yourself slipping into blackness. you awake to find yourself sitting on the floor, staring at your empty shell of a body. you wait for some supernatural entity to come take you away, to lead you to an afterlife, or even just to fade into nothing, but you’re still there. hours, days, weeks pass by. your body has begun to bloat with decomposition and you are left tethered to your own corpse, unable to stand and move away. you watch as mail is slipped through the door across the room, unable to read it. your phone lays at your body’s hand, silent. it ran out of battery days ago. you stay there, watching yourself rot. for that is all you can do.

This. This is my favorite unraveled. I love the others. But this. This is my favorite. It's literally advocating for socializing being a way to improve life. It's something I've heard a lot. And seeing people hang out. Is something which made me happy. And makes me remember to ask my friends to come and draw stuff. And laugh and have fun.

I genuinely think that painting nights should become a thing. get a load of paint and paper and pizza and friends and just paint some weird stuff

These are the only videos I can watch when I get really depressed. They're the only thing that's so pure and perfect on youtube that my brain can't find anything to hate about them, so it gives me relief whenever I need a break. Thanks wet Brian.
