@@ssavaart I had a question about the zebra brush pens: I bought a grey one, don't know the model, but it isn't very waterproof. Do yours not bleed at all? Mine bleeds if I add a decent amount of water/stroking it with a brush.
Theres nothing wrong with either. If you like what you started and want to finish it, do it. But if you dont think the work to make it good will be worth it, then tear it up. Youve got hundreds more paintings to make.
Usually when that happens to me I would stop drawing for a while and then paint a new piece and save that "failure" In my folder Don't tear up your "failed" Drawing. Trust me
OH MY GOD YOU DID FREDDIE. i cannot describe how amazing it is to see my favorite visual artist paint my favorite music artist. absolutely beautiful work, thank you so much for choosing the messenger of the gods for your piece :]]
Honestly the bleeding really works with the piece. But the sheer amount of times I’ve decided “Oh let me use India ink brush pen instead of my liners!”…it doesn’t always end well😂
I actually love water soluble ink. I use a lot of colored ink with my water colors to get a really artfully messy look, or use it to make smoke and mist effects on calligraphy. I don’t even know if I have waterproof ink.
If this happens again spray the piece with hairspray before adding your color, I generally use that technique when I want to watercolor straight over graphite but it should in theory work for not waterproof inks too
i still can’t get over the talent of this man. he’s me inspiration in my studio class! he’s made me think about posting more art related content then book related content on my channel!
If it's india ink it should be waterproof, but I think acrylic inks could also work maybe? Anyway, I just wanted to say that I absolutely *love* the painting and I thought you were super chill about the 'mistake' and rolled with it. Because I would panic and turn it into an existential crisis and not handle it this well 😂🤐
@@catataf Speedball and Dr Ph Martin's both have very waterproof India inks, I guess Higgins is just weird? JetPens has a lot of water and marker solubility guides to help find the ink, marker or pen that works best for what you want to do with it.
it has to do w the binder of the ink! a good guide is "like dissolves like" so water based inks will dissolve in water and alcohol based ink dissolves in alcohol. india ink is a little different bc it's a pigment ink and not a dye ink tho, so i'd always double check whatever brand u have
i watched this live yesterday morning and it made me really happy, i had been hoping you would draw freddie, he is my idol followed up by you, you make such amazing art and this is a pure work of art!
I love your picture of Freddie Mercury, you captured his vibe perfectly. And props to you for not getting frustrated as soon as something goes wrong lol, that's what usually happens when I attempt to draw something 😅
I really can't tell y'all how much I appreciate the subtitles in these videos. I can always rely on them for something wholesome even when I don't have audio!
honetly, I can relate to this, while finishing an old drawing, I use the non waterproof marker before the watercolors and then I added the watercolors, it got ruined, thankfully I fixed it
I think it actually makes it look a lot cooler, the specific picture of him you were making with the black outfit and the everything just made it look kind of really cool with the background bleeding into it.
I actually kinda like how the parts where the ink bled look! It works really well and kinda looks like shading. The painting looks really good regardless :D
"Your mistakes can turn into an art" I remember those words from my art teacher when I saw that- Not only it didn't stop you but, it made an amazing painting
Sometimes I wanna hug you. Maybe it’s because you inspire me or maybe it’s because you just seem like you’d be good at hugs. Idk. Your art is beautiful tho :)
I feel like this was a good learning experience for everyone watching the livestream. Mistakes happen, you learned something, you kept going. Problem solving is such a valuable skill, and the fact that you worked around it is really good. It is a very necessary ability for an artist
you should totally do a piece with all 4 members of queen similar to the one you did with the beatles a while back this freddie one was amazing and it would be great if you did all 4 members
Oh my gosh. This looks just like a particular scene in Bohemian Rhapsody and as soon as I saw you inking the outline I could literally HEAR the music and just wow. Such a gorgeous painting of Freddie - and way to adapt around the India ink!
Okay, but now I want to see a piece using and taking advantage of the properties of both inks! Freddie looks great! Love how the bleeding worked with the piece!
Oh my god, this happened to me during my mock art exam last week. I planned on using ink and watercolours for my piece but I was rushing that morning and grabbed the wrong liners and didn't realise until I started painting. I panicked for a moment but I calmed down and switched to coloured pencils and acrylic, it was unfortunate but I still wound up with a piece I was happy with at the end of the exam lol
OH MY GOD THAT IS AWESOME . i’ve been watching your videos for a long time and this is my FAVORITE! I love freddie mercury and this painting is just brilliant! it look just like him and i would definitely love to see more queen paintings, especially brian.
I've been watching you and a few other artists lately, and it has inspired me to start drawing again. Today I decided to do a sketch of a bust in a local museum. It was terrible! I'm so out of practice and don't have the training to do something like that well. But I put a date on it and noted the things I need to work on, so that I could go back and look at it later and see my progress. So thanks for putting your work out here and inspiring folks like me to get back into it.
