I appreciate the way you wash. I have a 2012 FLHTK, since new it has only had that amount of water on it 3 times. Caught in there rain twice and once with the water hose. I have a 6 pack wash. Two buckets with plain water, one for wheels and the other for rest of bike. When it's dusty I use air compressor to blow off dust. Wet a clean towel to wipe and one to dry. Yeah it takes about 2.5 hours but I'm in touch with my bike. Beer and music makes it a lot of fun for me. Polish it and repeat when dirty... A J&S Jack is really steady. it ain't cheap, but I love mine...

I always use a foam cannon it makes cleaning faster and adds lubrication to help prevent scratches , You should still use a bucket with a grit guard with just clean water , rinse off your mitt after going over each panel rub the mitt against the grit guard so it removes debris from your mitt so you don’t scratch your paint , great video

I came up with a cheepo version years ago. I bought a small size pressurized weed control sprayer from Ace Hardware. I put in a mix like you and then pump it up and spray the bike with it the same as you. It's not as nice as your setup but it works. Now I know there is a kit for it. I use Turtle Wax wash and wax. It also softens the water and makes my mitt glide on the paintwork and windshield to limit scratching. On the wheels I use a diluted spray of water and Simple Green. I do the wheels first. So they get washed twice. I've got spun aluminum wheels not chrome so they water spot really easily. When you get older you look for ways to make things easier. That blower is awesome and I didn't know about those either. I wouldn't point it at the wheel bearings though, it might be strong enough to push water into them. Going to get one! One thing is to fight being lazy, difficult for me, and wash the bike often and that makes it come clean with less work. Awesome video, thanks and subbed!

Can't argue with being thorough. What I do is jack bike like you. Remove leather seat accessories etc. Cover stereo and speakers.Wet bike down and rinse well top to bottem. Foam Master 50/50 auto wash and water. Let sit a while. Rinse whole bike thoroughly. Dry with small Meteo heated blower. Spray entire bike with Blue Aviation wadh and wax. Then dry and buff with drying towels. Top to bottem. I only foam once.

I have a couple additional things to add. Make sure you wash your microfibre towels before you use them. Also a tip on bug removal - Bug Remover by Gtechniq. Works very well. Foaming is meant to be pre-treatment to a standard 2 bucket wash. Also, using the same mit to do all parts is risky to your painted parts. Air dry followed by a detail spray is a best practice. Alternating, just riding it is fine too ;-)

I suggest you to put wwd40 on the engine and exposed steel parts if you're riding in the winter too to protect it from water and salt (not in the brakes and foot pegs), and remove the ecxess. Riding in the 80's was wonderful in many ways. No cell phones was a major contributing factor. Adventures required maps, real ones. Distracted drivers were the ones changing channels on their push button radios. Washing my motorcycles was easy. If Dad didn't have any turtle wax car wash laying around in the garage I'd grab Mum's bottle of washing up liquid, a bucket, and a hose pipe, and set to. Or I'd mosey on up to a gas station and run the pressure washer. No instructions, no videos, No regard for the ingredients in those washes that I'm now told will destroy my ride. And then I'd ride my clean bike on to the next adventure. Wonderful!

There's not much you can't find on RU-vid when you're need tips on how to do something. But tI preferred hose wonderfully simple times. When a front wheel bearing needed replacing prematurely (that gas station pressure washer wad brutal) you just removed the wheel, knocked out the old bearing with whatever tools were lying around, knocked in the new, tightened the nuts with your Gutentight torque wrench and off you went. Nowadays I'd get on RU-vid, watch a video, and then watch a dozen more, second guessing that the information in the first ones was incorrect. Aaagh! 😂

So I'll give you another tip. Decontaminate the paint and your windshield and paint. Then hit it with a good sealant. It will make washing your bike way faster.

What do you mean by decontaminate the paint?

Take off your seat, windshield and side panels when you wash.

I do that in the winter. I do a nice detail and also take the tank off. I don’t want to take the extra time during the riding season!

Wash it once when you purchase it then wax it. Bike shop gives it a looking at every 6 months and let Mother Nature look after it. Sell when it’s 2 years old rinse and repeat

those jacks suck and you know it. Get two proper screw jacks. The screw jacks that a motorcycle mechanic uses.
@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures
@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures 22 дня назад
@@flathead1930 not sure what a screw jack is, but I use this jack every time I wash my motorcycles. I love it 🤷‍♂️ I just roll it under the bike and jack it up. Thanks for watching!

@@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures Looked up “screw jacks”, and don’t see how they would improve this. Motorcycle mechanics use pneumatic lifts.
@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures
@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures 22 дня назад
@ericmarshall6602 yeah me too. Those seem to be used best while on a lift so you can stabilize the bike. That’s what I use mine for. They also won’t get the bike very high at all.
