Dynamic Nav was the middle trim. Signature was top of the range, and there was one below I forgot. The warranty is about 320 quid a year, but you have to keep it in place - if it expires then you can't add it back on again. If you join the RZOC, which casts 15 quid, you get 30 quid off. Did you take a bluetooth dongle with you and use CanZE to find out what the battery Soh?

I have just purchased my first EV last week. It's a 2016 Nissan Leaf Tekna 30KW with 37k on the clock and it is immaculate. Driving it like Miss Daisy gets 103 miles, normal driving 93! Car was advertised for 6.5k, but managed to snap it up for 5.5k. Battery manager already updated and the last elderly owner (5 years) has had parking sensors fitted front and rear. The seller has been told she can't drive due to an eye problem and just wanted it gone. Between 2021-22 it did zero miles between MOTs! I could not be happier with my first EV.......so far.

I had a Zoe 22kWh and loved it. I can already see from just the partial view you show that they still look very good. I took mine from 23000 miles to about 55000 and could not detect any degradation, so my guess is that you will average 85 miles and might see as much as 100. I think the most I ever saw unless I had reset it was 102 miles. Mine was the 'Q' motor so would charge at 43kW A/C. You suggested that yours wouldn't rapid charge so I guess it's the 'R' motor which can do 22kW and is supposed to be more efficient. I look forward to the next installment.

In Feb 2016 I bought a 2012 Citröen C-Zero for £6k and drove it home to Bournemouth from Cambridge. First time using the Ecotricity charge network as this was all that was available on the motorway. Long story short I made it home. I had the car for nearly 5 years and traded it in for £5k and it only needed new tyres in that time. It’s range was 60 miles in the summer and 45 miles in the winter so long as you didn’t put the heater on. That didn’t change when I traded it in. It was a great 2nd car for my wife who used it every day 8miles each way to her office. It also made very little difference to our electricity bill. It made sense for us to run an EV and it still makes sense.

@cpcnw
@cpcnw Год назад
@@KillerBill1953 Electric cars are heavier, which results in extra friction with the road, but the regenerative braking system found on EVs negates the need for friction brakes to be applied as often, therefore reducing particulate matter from brakes compared to ICE cars. There is a huge market in EV battery re-cycling. Samsung, Walmart, and Apple have signed the Responsible Mineral Initiative (RMI), which aims to set standards that would clean up the cobalt supply chain. Tesla are making their cathode cobalt free and changing to cleaner cheaper formulas. BMW made a deal with Swedish battery company, Northvolt, which sources its cobalt only from Australian and Moroccan mines to eliminate child miners from their supply chain. In 2023, LG and General Motors are expected to begin production of their latest battery called "Ultium," which is said to contain 70% less cobalt. Every part of your modern life uses batteries. So your assertion that it is only EV owners who are virtue signalling is mis-guided at best. At worst you have been told to be angry about new technology because you find it difficult to let go of old ways of thinking. And this is without any mention of the untold horrendous damage that oil companies and oil production has caused to millions of peoples lives and the natural environment.

I think I'm leaning more towards the lease, especially on a used car. The leased batteries come with a guarantee of capacity and so can be replaced by the manufacturer if they fall lower than that, and if you think about it the previous owner has taken the majority of the risk on that. If you pay 3 months of battery lease at like £50 a month then realise the range has dropped to below 75%. £150 for a brand spanking new battery replacement is well cheap.

Great and very important video. There has been a lot of entirely justified concern that the EV revolution might price huge swathes of buyers from owning a car. Typically these might be lower paid workers who need a car to do their jobs, care workers, supermarket staff, cleaners etc etc. This market may typically buy a car in that £3,000 to £5000 bracket. This shows we might be getting there slowly but the situation will only improve as EVs age and more come on to the second hand market. Will watch the follow ups with interest.
@bearcubdaycare
@bearcubdaycare Год назад
A source I found claims that the global market share of EVs was a tiny fraction of a percent in 2013, rising to 14% in 2022. Even though EVs were around a decade ago, they're quite few in number, compared to new ones. This will change over the next decade, as the new EV market share rose quickly year over year over that decade, but the 5-10 year old cars will nevertheless be few-ish for several years yet. But also maybe the number of buyers is fewer out of understandable caution, perhaps rising as people hear reports on the viability of older EVs, of various brands, what to expect, what to buy and not buy, how much to be willing to pay for what.

If I ever went into the EV market,the car would need to be bidirectional , so the boss could use it to go shopping and run the house all day and charge at night cheap rate.Having an electric car that may be standing all day not doing nothing seems silly may as well use the battery to run the house. I do think it would pay for its self in this type of use, as we are both retired

That is excellent for £4400. You got a good deal there.... It just proves it can be done, and completely destroys the " electric cars are way too expensive" argument..... Nah fam. This is an affront to independent mobility. Sacrificing so much in terms of range and comfort just to have a bugman pod that barely gets you to and fro. What a sad existence. A 4400 dollar diesel or petrol will have more comfort, better range, more features (even if dated), and will 'charge' in minutes. And as a bonus, you can go as far as you want without worrying about range. Just throw a Jerry can in the trunk.

Its now got 135k miles and probably 4 years left in it before the uk salted roads start to kill it. Do you think your Zoe's battery will still be working in 8 years?
@ElectricVehicleMan
@ElectricVehicleMan Год назад
If it isn't, the massive amount of money saved over 16 years of next to no maintenance will more than pay for a refurb 8 years from now. Your car isn't the same one it was when it was new, like triggers broom, it's had parts replaced and serviced. And remember, this is the first gen EV, you're comparing it against decades of development and perfecting. the fact it's compared at all shows what an EV will be capable of 10-20 years form now with more R&D behind them.
@bikeman123
@bikeman123 Год назад
@@ElectricVehicleMan Not really triggers broom - its only had routine servicing like filters, oil and one change of brake pads. At 16 years likely both my car and your ev will be quickly heading for scrap due to the effect of british road salt. In the unlikely event an EVs battery lasts that long, it certainly wont be worth refurbing the battery at that age. Realiastically, the battery wont last that long and I can see EVs heading for scrap far sooner than ICE vehicles.

Forget the fact that it is a means of transport, you can think of it as a set of additional and mobile batteries for your solar panels. 4 X 5 kWh = 20 kWh batteries would cost in the region of £ 6,000 (US5000 PylonTECH batteries are about £1,500). That is one hell of a bargain. OK there will have been some degradation in their capacity and I look forward to hearing by how much, but even so amazing purchase.
