I lost a emerson cqc 7bts and found it clipped to a dirty pair of cargo shorts in my laundry after getting my new one in the mail. But 2 Emerson's are better than zero. Carry a ZT hinderer designed flipper with Elmax blade.

I've carried the same CRKT knife since 2002. It served two tours to Iraq cutting stuff open, prying stuff open, as a punch, screw driver, and even a hammer at one point (desperate times). I still carry that beat up piece of steel around in my pocket. My wife jokingly calls it my security blanket as I feel naked without it and I refuse to leave home without it on my person. I guess it also serves as a lucky charm of sorts since it has always gotten me out of hairy situations.

Nice! My Carson CRKT M21-14sf is rubbed down to bare metal and is down to a 3.5" blade from 4. I've taken it apart over 100 times but, no pocket time since I've contracted Spydercosis. Waiting impatiently for that Sage 5.

I would love to see a video on the first aid kits. I've lost a lot of clip knives my self. I was in a parking lot one day and when I went to get out of my truck the seatbelt pulled the knife out of my pocket and threw it on the ground. If I would've been off road I never would've heard the knife hit the ground. So now I always check the belt and haven't lost a knife since.

Consider as an alternative carry option: leave the pocket clip on and clip it inside the waistband with the clip over the pants and under the belt. This protects it from accidentally coming off, but frees up pocket space and still keeps the knife readily available and in the same spot every time. I have carried my Delica at 4 o'clock and slightly canted appendix in this fashion on and off for a while. I don't have a 940 to try it with, but as its EDC philosophy is quite similar, I'd imagine it might translate quite well. Just a suggestion to try.

The 940 is a great blade. But you can improve it. Ask benchmade to send you a deep carry clip. That changes the 940 from awesome to epic. Cheers Mark.

I've never held a 940 therefore can't have an opinion for it.You guys are probably gonna tear me apart for saying this, so here we go.My social edc is a kershaw 1620 and I think it's a fine knife, that however isn't the one I think is gonna draw fire.My work carry........Milwaukee fastback 48-22-1990 ...I bought it for 14 bucks because I misplaced my kershaw and just wanted a cheapie.I figured I was just gonna throw it away..I beat the crap outta this thing, and kinda like it for its toughness.

I carry two knives...one for uniform and one for out of uniform. My uniform carry knife is a Kershaw Speedsafe 1830 that I got on a trade. I traded a Brother an old Case pocket knife that had bitten me (badly too...11 stitches!). Its a decent knife for what it is. I can get it to a razor edge, but it the edge just doesn't hold up to a lot of cutting. Not a big deal for me because I enjoy honing a knife. My out of uniform carry is a CRKT with green micarta handle scales. Can't recall the exact model. Its an ok knife, but I feel that the steel is a little soft and can't get the "OMG That's Sharp" edge that I like. It too, requires a little stone n hone time fairly often. My favorite by far is a regular old (carbon steel...not ss) Case folder. Its the only pocket knife for me when I'm hunting or in the woods. Bulky for jeans or uniform pants though, which is why I carry the CRKT and Kershaw on a regular basis. Right tool for the right job is my mantra.

Hey Cody, congrats on finally having the knife you've missed for so long! You could make a new pocket clip that has a small tab on the end pointing up, so it catches on your pocket lip. That way it locks and can't be pulled off by brush, you have to lift the clip to remove it from the pocket. I did this to a pen I was always lost and never lost it again till I stopped carrying.

@billville111 You're entitled to be wrong. I too enjoy Wranglerstar's stories and opinions... typically, however this was just rambling twaddle. Don't name your video "I've Found The Perfect Knife" and then take 6 minutes to even show it and not know about the properties of the metal it's made from. If the video was called "Reunited With My Favorite Knife!" then I'd have no gripes about the lack of relevant content.

Patience brother...the length of the video is shown at the beginning, if you don't have that much time you don't have to watch. Some of us enjoy hearing the experiences and thoughts of others. But then, I'm not a 3 minute information packed video guy either...I like some rambling and back-story. To each his own! :)

My life long knife is in a very Basic Multi-tool. All is on it, "Made in India" on the blade. I've had numerous knives over my 60 years & this ??? one is great. I had to use a diamond scriber just to engrave my name on it / the regular engraver tip just bounced around. It has H.D. plyers with wire cutter, straight edge screw driver/saw/file combo, philips, awl/can opener & of course the knife blade , handle is just the blade's covering (near 3/32" per side). It's at least 10 years old, sharpened 20 x, using a diamond impregnated lap belt & that;s it. I wish I could get 2 duplicated to will to my grandkids. ******* Love all your videos !! *******

IMO ditching the pocket clip based on money is a bridge too far. The Benchamde really are fantastic, but for half the price (or less), a little less weight, and 9/10 of the quality, the Delica is great, and you don't cry as hard when they get damaged or lost, although I still shed maybe a lone tear. And the only thing better than assisted opening is when it's already open out of the pocket... Delica Wave... ugly, but reeeeealy good. I also have another factor leaning against more moving parts: A good portion of my recreation is on saltwater and sand, splashing around in a kayak. I simply don't know how Spyderco steel is so good in salt water and fish guts, I do not baby my blades and even after days of bleeding and gutting and rinsing in seawater there's nothing but a few spots on them, a couple passes with a brass brush and they're mostly gone. I've even had to fillet trout with one, not my prettiest work but it did in a pinch as it was by far the sharpest knife we had on hand when nobody brought a proper fillet. Yes, not USA made, but I do have a few, and if they were better, I'd carry them.

I have a Benchmade Griptilian that I got as a wedding gift 10 years ago. It is a little less expensive than your 940, but I have really enjoyed having it. Lately I have been carrying an older Kershaw that I always liked before I got the Benchmade because my Benchmade clip is loose and I need to send it in for service. The Kershaw feels clumsy in comparison now and I can't wait to get my Benchmade back.

I've found that for knives with a pocket clip; the best way to avoid losing them is to clip the knife backwards to the small pocket in your jeans (knife on the inside of the pocket, clip on the outside). I've yet to lose a single knife clipping it that way.

Well...this was a 'first'...the 'promo-ad' take-off of 'The Jetsons' was vastly better than the posted-video!!!("What's in it's pocketeses" mutters Sméagol to himself..."I Know! A knife!" he says to Bilbo") Yeah...'we' get it.Just to 'clear-up' the question of "What's the best pocket-knife to carry?" The answer is...!The Victorinox 'SwissChamp' IS THE BEST! Period. For something to have on you? Something useful? That not only has two perfect blades for cutting...but more still for sawing, and yet another for 'gouging & grooving', and still another for 'making a hole' in damn near anything...and yet more, and more! All in a package that's one and quarter- inch thick and three and half- inches long!Soooo...who are you? "Lothar of the Hill People?" Or is that what you like to 'present on vid?' (yeah...everyone see's all the wood piled-up you chopped...or at least that's what you want people to think)Or it's likely that I just don't 'get' or want to 'get' all of the 'survivalist' nonsense on all these videos dealing with 'sharps'...that is probably due to my 'bullshit detector' going right to the peg when someone expounds endlessly on 'what knife I want on me in case I WANT TO STAB SOMEONE WITH IT!'That's what all the 'hoo-ah' is, really...that's why you MUST wear a knife w/a 'clip' so everyone will know they're 'dealing with a REAL MAN! when they see it displayed.WTF kind of 'mind-set' is this? "I keep losing my expensive knives out of my pocket" because I refuse to wear a belt and use the clip ON A BELT, which was the original intent of having a 'clip' to start with!NOT on the fabric of clothing, where it's a virtual certainty it's going 'buh-bye now' the first time it brushes against anything remotely solid.

I carried a Ralph Bone Original bench-made boot knife around for close to two decades, on belt & sometimes in boot-top, used it pretty-much every day when out & about; didn't have to sharpen or even hone it much, 'cause I didn't abuse it (if you need a prying-tool - unless it's some kind of actual emergency - get a pry-bar, or - at worst - a cheap-grade, expendable flat-blade screwdriver - DON'T use a knife, fercrapsake!), didn't even try to cut metal or the like...then, one day, I was looking at it and realized I'd never checked on what it actually cost (or was now valued-at) - I'd gotten it as a gift, partly in exchange for a job I'd done...and I looked it up... I'd been carrying well over $800-worth of knife around - just as casual as you please - for a long time! The sheath (custom-made for it) didn't even have a top-flap or a retainer-strap (quite a common thing with bench-made boot knives, I understand)...after that - it worried me: What if it came out of the sheath, and I didn't notice right away (it HAD loosened-up a bit, with age and use/wear...)? What would I do if I DID have a real emergency, and ended-up damaging it? - Ended up selling it off (got full-value for it, too!) - bought a couple of very nice replacements, a genuine Original Swiss-Army Hunter for every-day carry, and a Buck belt-pouch lockback folder for outdoor/woods carry, and put the balance into savings for my tools-funds. Over a decade later, still have (and use) the replacements - but, I don't worry about them, as I can replace either one (possibly BOTH)for under $100, if I ever need to do so. That Ralph Bone was nice, yes - but, so's a Ka-Bar - or a Buck, or even a Swiss Army folder...and I don't worry about damaging or losing an under-$100 knife that has almost-zero "collector value"...

Mine is at benchmade for some work. The omega spring broke on mine. I don't know what to do with myself. You are absolutely right, no other knife compares to the 940. I have owned multiple kershaws, I've been carrying a leek as I wait on my 940, and overall., good knives, but I CONSTANTLY, have issues with the torsion bar for the speedsafe breaking on my kershaw blur, it broke on a Clash, Brawler, and Cryo as well. Kershaw will send you a couple, no charge. But it's extremely annoying after the 3rd or 4th replacement. When I was carrying my Blur everyday, I was replacing the torsion bar every 6 months.

Hi Cody, living in the UK means it would be illegal for me to carry a locking blade over 3 inches(yes i am 67 and think imperial as opposed to metric) on the street. However my life has been spent as a soldier, paramedic and now a renovator of old houses and part time gamekeeper. My EDC for a long time was the Opinal until I discovered the skyline, without clip.Rob Bixby turned me onto the 940 about 5yrs ago, when I am working that is my EDC ( WITHOUT CLIP), I even had the blade engraved with my code name from way back. My buddies all say, OH I would not pay that for a knife, I ask them how much do they spend on their shotguns and vehicles, a lot more than this old Scotsman does. My old bangers never let me down, be it cars or guns, my 940 makes me happy, enough said Cody. God Bless.

I'm surprised that you mentioned a Buck Vantage came apart for you quickly. I have two with 13c26 blades and adore them, and still plan on getting one or two with the S30V. My Buck Vantage Avid (older from when they have the 13C26 rather than the present in 440C) has been my EDC for 4 years and is holding up very well, just this week have I had to tighten the pocket clip for perhaps the second time, and it gets a workout with my being a plumber and 'universal tool guy' like yourself.

I also carry a sweet Benchmade, the Grizzly Creek and its simply amazing. What bothers me is something else. In my country, my salary is a little over 500 euros a month - which is decent amount for a high school teacher, BUT I never hesitate to buy a 200 euro expensive knife. It's almost half of my salary but I'm not complaining. I do well, I also have other occasional sources of income. USA citizens have a lot more per month, an average of 2-3k per months YET they still complaining about how much they will pay for a good knife. May somebody, not a stingy person, explain me how does your mind "work"?

Knives are a very personal thing. Going to work, I always carried a Buck 55, a gentlemen's pocket knife. In the yard I had my Old Timer for almost 50 years, made right in Kingston, NY (now China!!). I lost it and in the process of fitting out our new house I gave my old recliner to one of the landscapers, he was delighted to have it. When he got home and unloaded his truck my "lost" knife fell out of the chair. He drove 50 miles RT to return it,!But by then I had bought two ne knives a Case single blade and a Boker three blades. You have too many hammers, I have too many knives. Among my collection is a knife that ALWAYS travels with me. It has saved my life! In a hotel room, dressing for a wedding rehearsal and the fire alarm goes off. The doors should have automatically unlocked; they didn't and I used my Victoronox flat bladed screw driver and had two hinge pins out when the alarm stopped and the door opened! By the time we were back from dinner, the hotel fixed the door. Now this is not your fancy Swiss knife. One 4 1/8th" main blade, one small one, a Philipp's and flat heat screw driver, bottle cap opener with a can opener and that's it.Knives can be addictive. I am in the process of buying a fixed blade knife. It will either be one of the Alaskan knives or an Israeli combat knife. The blades look good, the sheathes look good and both have a hole in the handle for a lanyard -- jus a piece of paracord in one end with the other free so I can pull the knife out easily. No loops and no pant clip!

If I'm out in the woods, or away from big cities, I always carry a 15" handmade chopper, but my main folding knife is and will always be the Spyderco Endura 4 ffg with a VG-10 blade. I have tried probably 20 different benchmade's and NONE of them are even close to the Endura IMO. the edge on that VG-10 lasts me about a year of use. and its a cheap knife. I highly recommend it if you can get over the dopey shape of spyderco's blades.

The 940 is too thin, too small, and way too expensive for me to EDC. If I purchased this knife it would be a safe Queen. I like to carry cheaper, larger knives. I am rotating a Rat1, Endura, and a medium Espada this week. These would be less much less painful to lose. I own a 710, 3 Grips, and a 530.
